My 7 & 9 year olds ride in a booster in the SUV, but not the car.
I'm an inconsistantly mean mom.

Mine too! Our kids will be fast friends comparing notes about their mean moms!

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I don't think any of their friends still ride in a booster seat. You look in the back of my van and there are 4 carseats/booster seats! I will give the older two a break on this trip and let them ride with just the seatbelt. But, that's only because I don't want to drag 4 carseats/booster seats half-way across the country and back! :rotfl2:

I did not tip that much extra on Palo either but I did get the stink eye. I thought it included the tip and left about $10-$15.00 more but I defintely got the feeling I was being cheap.

It is ''your discretion' and therefore you should never feel cheap / or given the eye, and extra $10>$15 seems fine to me, I basically as a min 'double' the fee, sometimes more for very very good service, but its totally up to you.

Just an FYI - we asked our wedding consultant for the price of the Tropical Rain Forest for length of cruise..the price is $120.00 per person.

More category 12 rooms opened up - I just looked as I was curious
for 2 with insurance and tax it is $5197.58

But since they are Cat 12..does that mean people are getting upgraded or that just happens to be what's canceling?

I was thinking about that myself, I think, a lot of people have booked 'what they can get' at the lower levels and would like to move up CAT's if they can, for this cruise outside views, or verandahs are very popular re Panama.

So they might be shuffling people up, but, on a paid not free basis.

Maybe get my Cat 3.........!

OK guy, I can take it. Have I unitentionally been a cheapskate on our last 2 cruises?

Here is what I've gone by (from http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/dcl/en_US/help/overview?name=OnboardServicesFAQLandingPage#9)

Every quidebook I've read says the Palo fee is the servers tip. We always tipped our Palo server at a bit more than the going rate for the main dining room (add together server, head, assistant). So when Palo was $5-$10 per person, we considered that $10-$20 to be the 'first dollars in' for the tip since DCL lists Palo as 'gratuity included'. We always tip, but nowhere near almost $100.

BTW, we had the same waiter we'd had for brunch for our dinner and he seemed pretty happy to see us again!

We're all friends, so here's hoping we can have civil discourse. If not, please ignore my question.

I don't know if I have ever tipped at Palo. Maybe I have, but I don't know.

I AM a cheapskate by nature, not accidentally, so when Disney says "gratuity included", I assume that means I do not have to leave a gratuity.

I've never bothered to do the math on DCL before, but the tips in the main dining room are about $7.25 a meal.

Good point. What I did last time was wash my clothes at home but let DCL press them for me. It was half the price and they did a GREAT job! I may go some simple stuff but will definitely use DCL services a lot.

I also bring Tide-To-Go or equivalent to do T-Shirts in the sink, so in fact, I tend to run less than $10/day. Also, I use the laundry service - most of what I bring does not require dry cleaning - and that's much less expensive.

Just checked the DCL site - there is a Cat12 available. Cost? Over $7k for my family of 3!:scared1:

I think it is just a way for Disney to control whatever categories they have left.

It is a good sign, in that it suggests they aren't worried about being oversold. May 19th is going to be interesting - to see how many spots open up, in what categories, and how long they last.

I just noticed a category 5 open on the Westbound for $8514 (for 2).

Would love to have a Cat 3 but not in the budget for this trip...maybe some other time. We are looking at going to Alaska next year so we have to keep that in mind too!

OK, here's my onboard charges estimate:

Palo (dinnerx2, brunchx2, teax1) = $75
Couples Massage = $250
Lush Package Tastings = $50
Shutters = $50
Corking Fee ($15x12 nights) = $180
2 bottles of wine (bought onboard) = $70
Misc. (drinks, arcades, etc) $30/day = $450
DCL/CC Souvenirs ($50 per person) = $200
Tips = $700

Are you bringing a case with you? If so, we'll be havin' two cases at our table... Oh, we're gonna be havin' a jolly time. :rotfl2:

That looks like an interesting book. Did you read the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People first, or does this one stand on its own?

Stands on it's own. I read the first one many moons ago, but it didn't strike me like this one does. The first, I think made some good points, this one - is, well, wise - might be the best word.

I really hated the Hammock Hogs last time I was at Castaway Cay - I really wish Disney would do something about it.

Um. Don't recommend the laundry for military uniforms. Our last cruise, on formal night, I found a Marine Private in the laundry room re-ironing his uniform. He said that laundry just didn't know how to put in a military crease. Like 99% of the ship is going to know? Poor kid, you could still see the terror inspired by is Drill Sargent in his eyes. On the other hand, DH refused to send his shirt in for ironing too. :rotfl:

Here are a few funny faces from Issac...

Just played with it. The Cat 12 at this pricing is $900 more than my Tier 1 pricing for my Cat 11.
