I am sure to have a couple of mysteries with me... James Patterson, Stuart Woods, hopefully there will be a new Janet Evanovich. I am trying to read Caribbean by James Michener, but not sure if I will bring it or have it finished by then. Not much time for reading at home (too busy with the DIS board:lmao:). I hope there are some others who want to trade mysteries. Just not into Science Fiction/Fantasy, although that is what DDs and DH read. I think I am the only person in the world who has not read any of the Harry Potter books.

You are not the only one who hasn't. The only thing is, I broke down and started the first book a few weeks ago. :scared1: Just kidding, I loved the movies so much, I figured why read the books? lol

DH really loves the science fiction writers, and I am more into non fiction books for some reason. If I do read fiction books it would be mysteries.

Palo (dinnerx2, brunchx2, teax1) = $75

Uhh isn't that kinda low.... i mean you would be including a tip too each time.

i know for dinner alone at Palo it's almost $100 for DH and i even if we each get one extra drink....

The new Janet Evanovich is due out June 17th. I doubt that I'll be able to "save" it for the trip, and even if I could wait ... I'd probably get it read on the cross-country flight out to CA. BUT, I'd be willing to bring it along and let someone else read it. You'll find me on a deck w/a book at some point every day ... one of my ideas of Heaven. I was worried about having to pack myself enough books for 2+ weeks of vacation. This book swap would be awesome for me :worship:

Snog?

(Forget it, she's on a roll)

YEAH! Snog.

snow + smog = snog
:)

Palo is $15 per person, right? So $30 brunch, $30 dinner, $15 tea (just me).
I count the drinks in our Misc ($30-ish a day) category & I have a whole category for wine!

Ok..we figured it out! here we go...

Looks good!

We ordered our FEs from the same seller on ebay. The kids each wanted their own "pocket" so we got one for the girls and one for the boys. Now how do we attach them so that no one walks off with them? :confused3

Hang in there. I used to do in home daycare and sometimes it gets pretty tough.
sometimes would be one thing...but with this one kid....it's EVERY DAY!! ugh! i've just never been so frustrated over a little one....and he's only 1 1/2!! his parents see nothing wrong with his tantrums, and they just let it go...of course they only deal with him for an hour a day...no wonder they pick him up from me at 5 and start baths and bedtime at 6.

Yours looks adorable! I like the different colors in each pocket! I am hoping no one will want them..unless they happen to have a family made up of a Richard, Desiree and Tori :rotfl:

At the end of this month, I'm celebrating my 25th anniversary of ordination to the priesthood. Today, my school children surprised me with a special anniversary "lunch with the pastor" Disney style.
Here I am, walking my Mousekeeters around the building to the gym, where we all ate lunch.

I have got late dining so just make sure you leave some for me or this could happen to you!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That's what the exchange was like on the Med repo last year -- one person had the designated cabin and put a tote bag on her cabin during the day . . . if you were finished with a book you left it there (permanently) and if you needed one you could go by and find one you wanted.

Jo (ga9497), if you wanted to be the point person, we would just print your cabin number on our mini navigator as the location of the Pirate Library.

Julie - I don't mind being the point of contact
Whatever is left in the bag at the end of the cruise I will leave in the Cove Cafe for future cruisers to enjoy

With the interest already expressed, we may need more than one cabin to hang a bag on. Maybe one for books and one for magazines? If my cabin ends up anywhere near Jo's, I'd be glad to lend out my fish as a bag-hanger. Our fish extender will be on the other cabin (wherever that may be)

Morningpirate: Hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be MIA with all the Derby festivities. If yesterday is any indication, it is going to be a long one. I didn't leave work until after 11 pm last night. It was parade day. There are about 40 folks coming to our house Saturday to watch the races--everyone have their Derby pick? Mine is going to be the luck of the draw----(I have no idea who is racing--but a horse will win!).

So we get through this long weekend of partying and then my store remodeling begins on Monday. They are taking my gas dispensers out Tuesday. I told my contractor I sure hope I still like them once everything is finished. Going to take 2 weeks to get the new dispensers installed and all the repiping finished. For the remodel we are looking at 4 weeks--sure hope they keep on schedule---I leave for Hilton Head on June 15th.
:)

Have fun this weekend!!!

Sounds like you'll really need that trip to Hilton Head! You guys deserve it!

Good news! Sarah did indeed make the team again. :cheer2: :cheer2: In fact, she was the first one called when they announced the team. So she was really really happy. The tryouts lasted about 2.5 hours longer than we expected so it was a long night and she was pretty nervous. She is really excited about the new coach and her new team. It was fun bringing the girls home as they were so relieved and excited!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone!

That's great. I'm glad her coach was open minded enough to watch her DVD and get a good idea of what she can do.

Had one and yes it is nice, but wouldn't get into an argument about it. I had to place a towel over it as the rope was rough on bare skin. Remember many threads about this and the reserving of lounge chairs at the pool for invisible guests. :lmao:

I am off to make my FINAL PAYMENT :dance3:

This brings up a good point...what is the proper etiquette for using a corpse to reserve a hammock? I'm picture a conversation something like this..."Sure kids, you can use the hammock. just be sure to put the dead lady back on it when you're done."

So, I too encourage others to do what's "right" for them and phooey on anyone that doesn't understand the "why now".

~Kandi

Great advice.

BTW...if i'm not in chat tonight it's only because our DSL is acting up again...

Seems like every Fri our connection goes down...If it does it again tonight I am soooooo complaining to Verizon....

OK, chalk this up to a really long week. I know what DS, DD, DW, DH, ST, etc mean. I was trying to figure out who the DSL was and why he would be acting up.

Thank uou Andrew ! I just printed it off to look over later. The Villa WOW !

I didn't think it had any addtional information that everyone didn't know anyway.:confused3

Yes private villa nice, Debbie at DCL has been super fantastic in booking stuff for me, and whilst we had a little fun on some of the other responses she has been great.

Speaking of reading, I've recently picked up The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness by Stephen Covey. Reading it for work - and since they bought it - it's hard copy. Anyway, I'm four chapters in, and I can tell already this is going to be an important and transformation read. Not just for work - but especially, and most importantly, as a parent.

I'm planning on bringing it along on the cruise. Would love to get together with any other interested folks to discuss.

Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/8th-Habit-Eff...UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1209739104&sr=8-13

Oh and Crash - when I read for fun it tends to be Sci-Fi / Fantasy, we we'll have something to share (provided it's not on my phone!) :rotfl:
.

That looks like an interesting book. Did you read the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People first, or does this one stand on its own?

Look what I just received.....

subject Eastbound Repositioning Cruise

5/1/08

Dear Thomas,

Thank you for your e-mail. I sincerely regret having to write you yet again.

We do not yet know the exact dining itinerary schedule for our Eastbound Panama Canal cruise in August. At this time we are waiting for some people to cancel the cruise because at the moment, we are housing all of the GTY passengers in Parrot Cay so that restaurant would be unavailable.

We are aware that there have been issues with our web site. We have recently made significant changes to the site to eliminate the 'swimming fishes' that so many people on the DISboards complain about. These changes should be evident to you on May 19.

I hope this information has been helpful and you will stop writing us.

If you have any further questions, our reservation agents will be happy to assist you by moving your party into one of the lifeboats for the duration of your cruise.

If you require further assistance, please don't send us an email since we are ignoring all emails from anyone named Thomas.

We look forward to welcoming you aboard!

Mickey

And people complain I have too much time on my hands..... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well... I suspected so much from this crowd of wenches an' swabbies!
<wink>

So here's the idea I came up with for bringing books on the cruise:

I'm going to go to yard sales this summer and stock up on cheap paperbacks, haul them along, then leave them on the ship! So anything I am done reading can go into the exchange and does not have to be returned! I tend to like spy/detective novels. My boys like sci-fi/fantasy.

Same here. I pick up used books or some of the mass market books that I don't feel a need to keep and leave them in the library. That frees up space in my luggage for the inevitable souveniers.

My DH went to break the news to the Principal (think hag) yesterday. She certainly did not disclose to him that the rule was you are not enrolled until you show up. But, I still feel very confident that she was just trying to be a pain. She gave him a big song and dance about how important school was etc. Like we do not know that. :sad2:
DD has never missed a day of school- period and her lowest grade on her report card ever is a 96. This does not sound like a kid that will have a problem missing the 1st week of school.
Bottom line is it is the rule but the principals sure do not want to admit it.

That's a shame that she's not willing to admit that you can learn just as much outside of the classroom, especially on a cruise through the Panama Canal and especially during the first week of school! Our principal told me the first week of school was mostly about learning how to walk down the hall! :rotfl:
