Yep - I did mean Pasty and I love them also. They seem to be unheard of around Chicago. The last one I had was about 2 years ago near Galena (but I think we were probably over the boarder into Wisconsin.)

For those with dirty minds - we are talking about a food! :rotfl2: (Nothing to do with ladies who are going to catch a chill wearing too few clothes!) They are a sort of meat pie. The story I have heard is that they come from cornwall England and were baked as to-go food for the miners to take to work.

Pamela

I had no idea what you all were talking about, but figured I should leave the pasty comments alone. :lmao:

I hear for the new ships they will be introducing an electronic KTTW card with an ultra-flat LCD display. You won't know your next dining location until five minutes before dinner time, at which point it will start flashing the letter on the card.

Not only will the restaurant be assigned randomly, but your table will as well - adding to the suspense and excitement of the trip and increasing the opportunities to meet new people.

I understand they are also considering random cabin assignment on longer cruises - where you'll go on excursions and when you get back your KKTW card will flash your new cabin number (cabin staff will already have moved your luggage to your new room). This will be done for all GTY passengers who didn't know where they would end up in the first place.

I'm thinking about wantering aimlessly until I find 4 open seats in one of the dining rooms...

The real nasty one is they are going to be charging $50/Oxygen mask in the event of an emergency. In the case of a sudden cabin depressurization, credit card readers will drop from the ceiling. Pay for yourself and put on your mask before paying for the masks of any children sitting near you.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Let's go Flyers, Let's go

Roger....I'm glad things are improving for you. Here's wishing you a speed recovery.

On another note, even though I was put on anti-gout medication last month, I had my worst flare-up ever tonight. It came on fast and I was literally in tears from the pain....Two anti-inflammatories, one hydrocodone and an icepack later, it's now tolerable enough for me to concentrate on doing some ketchup here. I know gout is nothing compared to everyone else who has serious issues...It's more of a huge nuisance than anything. It is frustrating as my DW and I had been getting up and working out this past week.

Christopher I am so sorry to hear this. Do you think they can up your meds or give you something different? I am saying prayers for you and sending all good things your way!

DCL says:-

If reservations are linked you wil lbe able to book shore trips for ALL of your party at once.

haven't finnished ketchup so apologies if this has already been asked, but in our case we are CC members & are linked to my parents reservation who are not CC members. will I have more than trouble than everyone else 90 days out, or will it know to only allow the 4 of us to book then & my parents at 75 days?

Celestine

Thank you all for the well wishes. Everything went well. Much better than I expected. I am currently coming down off the Valium/Vicodin and waiting for the Lidocaine to wear off. The microwaving did not really hurt it was the 20-30 injections to numb the area. I have to take it easy for the next couple of weeks (no biking) :sad1: but I am up walking around right now. I have another couple of hours before I get to take my next meds if I need them. I will post before and after pictures after everything is healed.

Hey Roger glad to hear that everything went well. I've been kind of MIA for awhile, but I try to play ketchup everyday.
Speedy recover. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to let you know we will be flying to D.C.. for our DD wedding.. and will not be around...

Arlene it is up to you do the Central Florida weather:) :)

We will not be back until Wednesday...

Anyone around the D.C. area.. I will be at National Cathedral on Saturday at 10.00 AM :cool1: :cool1:

Congrats again. Have a great time and take lots of pictures.

Woo-Hoo! I got DIS mail today! Last week, my email was read on the podcast and my T-s*** arrived today :yay:

I had DS take a photo so I could post it (no one here "gets it" why I am excited!) Not the best photo of me ever, but since I was coaching him through how to use the camera at the same time, it isn't too bad!

Never got to see one of those. Love the pearls

We just had White Castle's for dinner. I can remember when I was a kid our nearest one was about 20 miles away and every so often my Mom would insist we just had to have them and we'd drive over there! :thumbsup2

Unfotunatlely, we do not have ANY kind of Pasty shop around here. We did find a place we occasionally mail order from in Winter Park, FL. It is just really pricey once you add in the shipping. :sad1:

Pamela

We call those "Belly Boomers". No explanation needed :lmao: We have Krystals here and they are a substitute for them.

What Pastry shop? Winter Park is where we go for DHs MRIs which is this Thurs.

Currently it is 53 and fair.
Hopefully we will get up to 73 and 52 tonight
Pollen count HIGH. Trust me I know.

Now to get back to catching up. 4 more pages.

Glad to see you around again. Don't worry, Cheryl has been using your DIS Id to log in and post, so its almost like you were here......:lmao: :lmao:

My rule of thumb with the DCL system, if you have to ask if it will be a problem, it will...

Hi Everyone..

In D.C....a little chilly but suppose to warm up by the weekend in the high 70's

but the real reason I am on is because my DD made Major Yesterday... :cool1: :cool1:

Congrats, Liz! Have a wonderful trip and I hope the weather is perfect for the wedding.

I see that others have already explained the fish extenders to you . . . we will have a sign up for them next month after the 90 day window . . . then everyone will get a list with all the participating cabins on them . . . we might even assign people different days so that the gifts are spread out throughout the cruise since it is so much fun to come back to the cabin every day and look for goodies!

Great idea - but what about those of us in the communal lifeboat i.e. still gty- do you think they have fish too????

Celestine

Assuming you actually meant PASTY, not pastry, I love those things!!!

Now I have to go to try to find some, I am hungry...

Yep, the hand held meat turnovers. They are big in the UP of MI. Our local place makes a pretty good one.

My dad use to call them that. I'd alway say- You can't eat those things! They are huge up in the UP. A couple of years ago we stayed in St Ignace and I had a Yooper pasty. It was very good. Can't remember the place, but they did mail orders.

What Pastry shop? Winter Park is where we go for DHs MRIs which is this Thurs.

I just went and looked up the name and found that they have stopped their mail order business that was out of Winter Park. However, I also learned they have a store in Orlando (no mail order) where they sell frozen cornish pasties and scottish meat pies. The name is "The Brittish Shoppe" at 809 N Mills.

At least there is still one mail order place left - also in Florida - it is in Cape Coral and is called Cameron's.
