 does anyone want some kids?? it has been such a bad day!! thank goodness dh is on his way home, cuz i think i'm gonna lock myself in my room and scream/cry!!
the baby i watch has done nothing but scream all this week. he's not sick...it's just his lovely nature. i've dealt with it for over a year now, but it's getting worse! and today i'm grumpy anyways!
and today is my dd's bday. she has dance at 3:00, so i asked my friend to pick her up at school, and friend calls me to tell me that dd is not out of school yet. she asks the teacher where she is, and teacher informs her that dd has been in school crying hysterically all day today about going to dance. she has never had an issue with going...she's danced since she was only 2....but for the last few weeks, if i can't go with her and sit there, she doesnt want to go. she doesn't usually dance at 3...but they have a comp this weekend, and she is going in for extra practice. i know she may be a bit stressed over the comp, but she really needs to get over this! my friend brought her home, and she acted like a baby....clinging to the furniture and not going out the door! we had many discussions before, and she's done comps before, so i'm not sure what the deal is...it just irritates me!
then, while i'm trying to get her all ready to go out the door for dance, i hear yelling amongst the boys that i watch. turns out that they are all out playing basketball, and my oldest ds decides to have a meltdown too....and whipped the ball at one of his friends. what in the world? i'm about ready to have a major meltdown!!!! his attitude comes from not wanting to go to baseball practice....something that HE wanted to sign up for. im so irritated...sorry for venting.

Remember . . .tomorrow is another day . . . thank you for reminding us with older children what we're missing :) Yours will grow, too, and you'll remember . . .

Keep venting . . . you deserve a break!!! (and LONG 15 day cruise in August)

It looks as if Frontier airlines just declared Bankruptcy.

They announced it on the news just now = however the web news and the Frontier web site shows nothing to this effect?

OK... I've found several web pages on this - it seems to have just been announced about 20 minutes ago!

CNN Money.com said:
DENVER, April 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Frontier Airlines Holdings, Inc. (Nasdaq: FRNT) today announced that, following an unexpected attempt by its principal credit card processor to substantially increase a "holdback" of customer receipts, which threatened to severely impact Frontier's liquidity, Frontier and its subsidiaries have filed voluntary petitions for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.

Frontier intends to continue normal business operations today and throughout its reorganization process. Specifically, it expects to continue to:

"Frontier is committed to delivering exceptional customer service and we intend to continue delivering on that promise with normal operations throughout our reorganization process," said Sean Menke, Frontier President and CEO. "To be clear, we filed for very different reasons than those of other recent carriers, and our customers and employees can be confident that we intend to keep on flying and providing outstanding service and products.

"Given the recent progress we have made towards strengthening our balance sheet and obtaining additional financing, it is truly unfortunate that we have had to take this action," Menke said. "We felt that Frontier would be able to withstand the challenges confronting the U.S. airline industry, which include unprecedented and significant increases in the cost of jet fuel and the impact of the credit crisis in the financial markets, without seeking bankruptcy protection. Frontier has continued to perform relatively well in this difficult environment, and contrary to the trend, we have not seen a decrease in consumer demand, as demonstrated by our record traffic and revenue in March. Unfortunately, our principal credit card processor, very recently and unexpectedly informed us that, beginning on April 11, it intended to start withholding significant proceeds received from the sale of Frontier tickets. This change in established practices would have represented a material change to our cash forecasts and business plan. Unchecked, it would have put severe restraints on Frontier's liquidity and would have made it impossible for us to continue normal operations. The automatic stay provision of the bankruptcy code prohibits the credit card processor from increasing its holdback, and we are prepared to litigate this issue if necessary.

"By filing for Chapter 11, we will now have the time and legal protection necessary to obtain additional financing and enhance our liquidity. Fortunately, we believe that we currently have adequate cash on hand to meet our operating needs while we take steps to further strengthen our company."

Frontier's Chapter 11 cases were filed today in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Frontier is filing motions with the Court seeking interim relief that will ensure the Company's continued ability to conduct normal operations, including the ability to:

Thanks Paula,
Its been more than 15 years since we went. Which island did you like the most? I've heard Kauai is really beautiful:cloud9:

I loved them all. Kauai was really beautiful but Maui was great for whale watching. The Volcanoes National Park was incredible too.

I really couldn't choose which I liked first and I hope to go back some time.

Ooooh, you're right:sad2:
That also limited our options when we wanted to transfer the ressie to the repo:headache:
Hadn't thought of that:confused3
Maybe I can talk some family into a trial cruise before one of the inaugural ones:rolleyes:

I think I've come in part way through on this... we booked a "dummy" ressie on our Sept 06 cruise and then transfered to a TA. When the repo cruise opened, she moved our ressie over to it. Can you not do this now?

Yeah...

... it's incredible the changes we've had since the kids arrived.

Anyways ... IMO we were not as well prepared as new parents as some others might have been. IE, I bet 99% of the other families reading this have been better prepared to be new parents than Alicia and I were. At any rate, Julianna was born that morning... 3.5 weeks early. And only 3 weeks earlier we were in Hong Kong shopping.

[/CENTER]

Tom, I would bet 99% of the other families were surprised at how ill prepared they were for the arrival of their first child.

And, great story. Thanks for sharing it.

Somebody pass the rum......I promise to share with Shannon

Just got off a conference call where it was announced that we will be making a 23-25% force reduction. Within my organization that means about 350 people. No one will know until 'late April' what their employment status is. Some people will even have to take downgrades if they want to stay employed.

I've known for several weeks that we were restructuring. But this is the first time they put some numbers and timelines to it.

They say it's based on performance and skills. But I know from personal experience that is not always the case. I was one of the top performers when we went through this last year, but got targeted anyway. Luckily they found me another position otherwise I would have been laid off. I actually found out that some people's annual reviews were not even looked at in making the decisions last year.

I've been here 12 years. This is about the 6th time I've been through this.

Monica, my thoughts are with you. Good luck.

That's a good one!:rotfl: I went and got Schlotzsky's for dinner and now I feel better. (Food always does - Hear that Oprah- I am an EMOTIONAL EATER!!) :rotfl2:

Oh I miss Schlotskys. They were here for a brief time. DH loved them.

Crash beat me to the bad news about Frontier Airlines. Scary stuff. Hope no one here booked on them.:sad2:

I remember when my kids were going thru their "evil twin" period. Not fun. :scared1: You never knew from day to day what would set them off. When DD was skating competitively, she never had any meltdowns, just attitude issues. At 33 she still has her moments.
My DGD has been having meltdowns since she was born :lmao: It is just the way some deal with stress. Now my DS tells me he wishes he listened to us when we tried to get him into sports, rather than plaster himself in the car and refuse to come out.He regrets that now. He never took stress well. As a kid,he would actually run a fever the night before school started he got so stressed.

The little one (9) is going to Seaworld today with his school and announced he wants to go on Kracken :scared1: We were amazed as he is so timid. Problem is he probably won't be big enough to fit in the harness. DD told him it goes upside down and he stated he is fine with that!!!! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!!

Coral sorry to hear that you had such a terrible day. Let me be the first to welcome you to the Pre-ST/ST years. There are going to many more like this in your future. :grouphug:

I know you are right. I just choose to ignore it. :)

Mines in bed... i almost grabbed a pillow and ..........................

:headache: Nah ain't worth it....

:lmao:
See....

I told you things would settle down and get better ....

... of course, now it's time to ...

GET EVEN!

Just kidding.... :rolleyes1

That is hysterical! He can outrun me so I guess Bill is safe.

a quick pic of dd in her mermaid costume...it has really pretty "fins" on the bottoms of her pant legs...just not a great pic:

i can't believe i was so angry with her earlier today....she really is a good girl...and i feel like such a bad mommy!

have a good nite everyone!

Ahhh! I heard God makes them cute so we will not kill our young.
Not sure what prevents us from doing it later.;)

pixiedust: to all who are going through tough times. It must be the time of year, things around here aren't the greatest either. Fortunately nothing major.

As far as children go, it never ends. It does get better. My oldest DD is 27 and has a seizure disorder that started when she went away to college. Now she is working and has a 5 year old son and it seems the stress causes her to have seizures. She had one at work this week. She is on medication, but can't get into the nuerologist until July.:headache: I figured once she was out of the house I wouldn't worry about her as much, but you are always a mother no matter how old they are.

When I was sick a few weeks ago my mom (who lives with us) was like "do you need some tea? do you want me to make you some toast?" And I still find myself checking on my DD25 who moved back home to go to Grad School. She lived on her own for 5 years, but I still knock on her door in the morning to make sure she is up to go to work or school. (when she was younger I had to go into her room at least twice each morning to make sure she was awake.)

So I guess I am saying the mothering gene never goes away. Although I have to say it is much easier now than when they were STs.

 Shannon. We all have those "bad mommy" days!

Lauryn looks so cute in her costume! Hope she has fun this weekend. DH is taking Nicholas camping this weekend, which means it'll be me and the other 3 kids all weekend! :scared1: Not sure how much fun I'll be having!

I really loved Volcano National Park. I told Alan one day we need to stay close to there so we can be there at night. I hiked there in my flip flops.:)

(and Sk8mom, too)

We did a LOT of camping when we were kids. I'm the oldest of EIGHT (20 years between me and my youngest sister). We didn't start doing any travelling until my mom and dad split and my dad remarried . . can't say I can imagine my mom camping anyway. One of our first trips was to Disney World (when it just had the Magic Kingdom). I think I was about 12 yo. My dad only had $500 for the WEEK!!! Guess I was hooked for a lifetime.

I was fortunately b/c my first job (and next two jobs) required travel about 50% of my time. I LOVED IT!! (and I was single . . .no responsibilities!) I also discovered RESORTS. When I was growing up the only hotel we EVER stayed in was when my godfather got married in Cleveland. We stayed at a very scary hotel (even for the mid-70's). I thought all hotels were like that . . .at least that's why Dad said we camped. . .. LOL

I do know what you mean about traveling to visit family. For the first 12 years of our marriage at least one trip a year had to be back to the West Coast so my DH could visit his family. The last year we made 5 trips b/c his mom was getting ready to go on to heaven. Our boys have grown up traveling on planes (they have no idea how spoiled they are . . .LOL). We've seen a lot of the Northwest even up through Canada. Pretty fun for a some simple southerners :)

To help my kids NOT be the way up we thought the TOAL would be a good start for them. We've done a few other DCL, but there was something about going through the Panama Canal. Before the boys finish high school, I want to get them to Europe and to New Zealand (DH has family there). Since DS14 is starting high school next year, I figure I have 4 years to plan these trips (in addition to regular DCL relaxation trips . . .LOL). I always felt you could better appreciate studying European history when you've seen Big Ben, Notre Dame, Coliseum in Rome.

Okay, I am rambling now b/c I should be in bed, but missed sharing with ya'll . . .

Lots of wonderful memories. I had forgotten when my Dad was living that we went camping. That's something we have never done as a family. Theresa, I agree, it really sinks in when they have seen what they are learning about.:)

OK... I've found several web pages on this - it seems to have just been announced about 20 minutes ago!

Living in Denver, I've heard that Frontier has been struggling for a while. This is why I refused to book our airfare for the TOAL on them. I decided to stick with SW and am glad we did even though Frontier says it's "business as usual".

I heard that this morning. Guess I should stop complaining about my $25 extra baggage fee with Delta and just get used to some higher fares. Alan keeps saying we just ned to start driving again---I told him that if that's what he wants to do, then fine. I'll fly and they can drive, if it is any longer than 4 hours. Any news on your ATA refund?

Hope he can ride and has a blast. That is a fun roller coaster. :goodvibes

Terri, I don't think it ever does go away. Wish your DD could get into the neurologist earlier--hopefully something will come open sooner.:)
