Does anyone have maps or is going soon to universal hollywood? I emailed the studios and they don't mail the maps out because they are "date specific"! I just want a better map than the one online and I am not too concerned about timing! Arrgghh!

It looks as if Frontier airlines just declared Bankruptcy.

They announced it on the news just now = however the web news and the Frontier web site shows nothing to this effect?

OK... I've found several web pages on this - it seems to have just been announced about 20 minutes ago!

Oh Carp! We're booked on Frontier for the trip out....where does this leave us?

LOL! my daycare inspector came this morning, and heard the one baby screaming at the top of his lungs. he couldn't get him to stop either. i really am ready for this trip! the daycare inspector was even speechless about this kid...something seems to be really wrong...of course the parents give in to his every single whim...and he expects me to also. but i can't! i have 4 others here today to care for, and when dh is here, we have 7-8 more. you can't drop everything to get this one baby every time he hollars. the mom told me this am that he prob just needs to have a bottle....i asked her if they give him a bottle at home? and she said whenever he even starts to fuss a little, they'll give him a drink. he is almost 18 months old, and i've had him drinking from a cup at the table for the last 4-5 months. noone...even my own kids and dh....are allowed to walk around our home with food/drink. the mom thinks i should make an exception for her kid....not happening! my oldest is 10...and he's always had to eat/drink at the table/kitchen. there is no way i'm letting one kid walk around my house with food. and i don't know why she thinks i would? i have 4-8 other kids i take care of! if i let one do it, i'd have to let them all do it! GRRR!!!
anyways, my point to that rant was that i'm soooooo ready for our trip! it is exactly 4 months from today that we leave! and i can't wait!

Maybe these will help you:

Hope he can ride and has a blast. That is a fun roller coaster. :goodvibes

I'll find out when Mom picks him up at 6.

Thinking forward to the 19th and of course Andrew's observation that the Wonder is also open for an August 17 cruise that night....

I tried seeing what the availability was on the Wonder cruise. If I try with 2A and 2K, its not available (even changing ages around). 2A alone or 2A and 1K show availability.....

So they aren't fully booked, but I'm imagining they are getting fairly close as the 4 passengers is throwing their system for a loop :confused3

Hopefully they are all first time cruisers and none will be on-line on the 19th

You have a better chance of 1st time cruisers on the Wonder as many use it for their first time just to see if they like it. Also the Land and Sea Pkg. Let's cross our fingers and toes they are not very savvy.:thumbsup2

Funny you should ask. I presently have the site up as DGD is going with her safety patrol. We were looking up the restaurants. IF she brings hers back intact I will see if we can get it to you or scan it.I think we just recently threw ours out :confused3

Cleveland-area Malley's has the best hot fudge. So good, we named our dog after it.

I didn't know that is is what Malley was named after! My sister's dog who died about 6 or 7 years ago was named Malley after Malley's Chocolates :) They lived in Akron when they first got him.

You are very lucky to have Alicia...and SHE is very lucky to have YOU!

I know Brendan IS a hopeless romantic..it is funny you look at him and he is this BIG guy..tall and muscless and all plus a smart ***! But he is alway saying and doing things that always surprise me! Maybe you two can trade hints and stories!:lmao:

You are a good guy Tom!(yes I used your name!) Though maybe not always innocent!:lmao:

Have fun dancing with the little one!

Chrissie

Todays' class went better than ANY prior ballet and or tap class with Kalea. I went in warning Kalea that I was not putting up with anymore of her "games" - like needing to go potty when her instructor asks the group to do someting she doesn't want to do - or running out for water at those moments - and there would be none of the behavior from past sessions where on arrival she would cling to my leg and bemoan going into the class. I warned her - today if that's how it's going to be we were going to CANCEL her remaining ballet/tap classes and we'd go home where she would spend all day in time out! < sly silent grinnin' with a wink > And Kalea listened with a degree of seriousness. As of late I've become more of the "firm hand" compared to mom. I was getting tired of the "carry me" thing when she wanted to be carried the 10-15 yards (or feet) from car to door. That kind of stuff HAD to stop. Plus a few other similar moments when I felt her conduct was clearly unjustified and borderline manipulative. Have I been a mean Daddy for being tough on her these past few days?

Awwww, cute story Chrissie.

Crash the hopeless romantic. How cute!

DH & I have been together half my life as of sometime earlier this year...even if you count the 6-8 months of "breaks" we had in college. I was 14 when we met & 17 when we started dating.

...[ed]....

And here I am thinking ... oh yeah .... I can boast of my spouse and I being "together" 24 years since that fateful 1st date - but like you I'm not adjusting the total years stated for the times we broke up (followed by the "get togethers" again). And I thought we were the ONLY ones who did that kind of thing.... sigh. Alas, we've all heard the adage .. if LOVE something you have to let it go ... and if the thing you Love comes back then it's truly "meant to be". This would definately apply in our cases going BOTH ways. She let me go - and later I let her go (or vice versa) ... and we both returned to one another.

LOL! my daycare inspector came this morning, ....[ed].....

discipline.jpg

wow!! I should get myself one of those!! wonder what my daycare inspector would say about that??!!!

...[ed]...!

Geee....

... I simply DON'T UNDERSTAND what the problem would be with a daycare inspector in this situation? It's not as if you electric shocked the metal of the cage??? :rolleyes1

I heard that this morning. Guess I should stop complaining about my $25 extra baggage fee with Delta and just get used to some higher fares. Alan keeps saying we just ned to start driving again---I told him that if that's what he wants to do, then fine. I'll fly and they can drive, if it is any longer than 4 hours. Any news on your ATA refund?

Since having MAILED my request for refund to VISA I have not followed it up. I only mailed it on ... wuz it Monday or Tuesday? I figure I'll allow til the first of next week til I follow up with a phone call. As I understand it - an EMAIL was sent from the Visa rep I spoke to last week (friday?) noting I was disputing the ATA charges .... and that VISA had approved the waiver to NOT make me wait 60 days to file a dispute - as their initial reaction was I must wait until 60 days AFTER I initiate a dispute before I file for recover/remedy with VISA.

That was the long answer - the short answer follows: ......

"no"

I loved them all. Kauai was really beautiful but Maui was great for whale watching. The Volcanoes National Park was incredible too.

I really couldn't choose which I liked first and I hope to go back some time.

After all the years I been with Alicia and visiting Hawaii (usually annual visits at the least)... I have NEVER been to Kauai! And when we were scheduled to fly to Hawaii this December (til ATA rolled over) we were talking about booking interisland to an island we hadnever been to - Kauai being one of those under consideration. ..... Sigh. Now we're back to shopping for air fare to just get there - or go somewhere else for the holidays.

Tom, I would bet 99% of the other families were surprised at how ill prepared they were for the arrival of their first child.

And, great story. Thanks for sharing it.

Lisa,

.. thank you. I get a bit hesitant sometimes just before I tap the post button. And sometimes I erase what I've written. Either way - I read and re-read some of the "personal" things I write - and it's good to see sometimes. I end up thinking about things I almost never think about otherwise.

At any rate, I wuz going to say that I bet 99% of those families who admit to being less prepared then they'd like would STILL show as being MORE PREPARED than we were to be new parents. We could not even settle on a name for Julianna for a week after she was born! The hospital was going nuts with or delay in naming her.

So have I ever mentioned that I named Julianna? I choose Julianna as a name becuae it was the name of a disturnbingly attractive young lady I sat next to on a flight back from Chicago for business - who sat next to me and would not shut up. Initially, on that flight I ignored the young lady as i was thinking ... hmmm... pretty girl but I'm tired - not feel talkative and - of course - I was very happily married. But she was sort of unusually attractive. Well... she kept opening dialog with me - and I would reply but NOT give her continuing questions -yet I would drop the conversation on diplomaticly neutral terms - and she just kept talking! In the end we chatted the ENTIRE flight and I showed her my spouses picture while mentioning I've been with her so and so number of years (I always do that while traveling) - and I never once asked her name. It turns out she was on a relo flight to LA to take a job in advertising sales. Just my luck - I had a gregarious looker sitting next to me who was possibly "practicing". At any rate, the last thing she offerred as we stood to deplane was her name ... Julianna. And I thought - now that's a pretty name.

So I named my daughter after an attractive young lady I met on a flight from Chicago. Alicia usually rolls her eyes when I recant this story wih appropriate drama.

I guess for us starting up as new parents was almost handled with the same level of preparation and attention to detail as the moment when I proposed marriage to Alicia. Yup... no ring... no flowers... no romance... and I didn't ask her Dad for her hand in advance. Oh yeah... and I had NO common sense at the time. Remember ... when I called her Dad to ask for her hand - after her Dad did his "talk" regarding his expectations for me providing a certain "future" for her and so on - he closed with an admonishing question.... he said: "now are you SURE you can handle her?".

I thought today was Thursday, but just realized it's Friday !!

Yup.... you may have briefly mixed up today with yesterday - but I went "space cadet" as Alicia would quip when right after gymnastics I forgot about the Doctors Examination/Physical we scheduled for right after ballet/tap. I even called to ask our health insurance this morning to review certain aspects of the coming exam - and still right after Kaleas' dance class I forgot about the Doctors appointment.

Oh Carp! We're booked on Frontier for the trip out....where does this leave us?

My recent experience with the ATA thing differs from your situation in that FRONTIER is continuing operations while they've declared chapter 11 (reorganization). In the case of ATA - they abruptly stopped operating leaving 10s or 100s of thousands of people with worthless tickets or thousands stranded half way through their travels. SO.... for now you have NOT been damaged. Until told otherwise - your schduled flight will get you home in September or out here in August. However, I would remain vigilant for schedule changes or NEW information on Frontier operating.

Unusally chapter 11 is a good thing for a troubled or weak business. It FREEZES most of the business relationships in place thus preventing a businesses' creditors from stepping in and siezing assets (like jets, inventory or money on balance). And it allows a weak business some leverage to renegotiate terms with its' creditors. Often this is all a good business needs to recover or survive. Think of it as giving a marathon runner a chance to stop for a nap or rest in the shade before continuing thier run.

JR... Thanks for the chuckles..... I think I got a cramp in my sides from the laugh you just gave me! I think I may be guilty of coming close to doing things like the "Don't" images warn against doing. And my daughter just admonished me ta "keep quiet" as I was laughing too loudly!

Oh Carp! We're booked on Frontier for the trip out....where does this leave us?

I knew someone in our group booked them, I just couldn't remember who. It looks like they are still conducting business as usual, so hopefully this won't have any effect on your flight, Debi.

I only wish that could have been the case for Skybus as well. They did just as ATA, and left so many people stranded.

Oh no, I was considering flying them home after TOAL. Hadn't booked anything yet.

Seems as if they may continue operations....for now...ugh...could you imagine being on TOAL...only to arrive at MCO on the 1st and find out they went belly up? I guess I'm going to have to examine the financial situation of an airline AND their baggage restrictiosns before booking.

A very unpleasant surprise, especially since we would be fairly powerless, even if we did hear about it.

TGIF!!

I finally got my schedule for my clinical rotations that start next month. It all looks pretty good, and the most important thing is that I got off for the block I needed for the TOAL!!!

I also got the block before that off, so I have most of the summer off with the kids, and we don't have to worry too much about childcare. My farthest rotation is about 40 minutes away, but it's only for 5 weeks, so it's doable.

And I only have 16 more days of classes left. Ever. (Well OK, not really for ever, but you get the idea)

Well Yea!! I say smooth sailing from here for you!

Oh Carp! We're booked on Frontier for the trip out....where does this leave us?

At Coral's house waiting for another flight. I bake a mean batch of chocolate chip cookies and Bill does a great job of driving to restaurants. :rotfl2:
I bet everything will be just fine!

Dang.....I've been doing things wrong :rotfl:

Truth be told... THAT was exactly what I wuz thinkin'..... <wink>

And yeah - I've said so much before - but again I say... JR.... this has given me the best laugh of the week so far! Thanx!
:goodvibes

Great news Mike :thumbsup2

Hey Roger !

Hoz it goin'?! Tomorrow is colonial day at the Reagan Library. We've not gone before - but will wander by around noon or so. It runs from 10AM til 4PM. And tomorrow is the sign up day for AYSO region 4.... serving Agoura/Westlake and parts of TO. So we're doing that in the AM and reagan in the late morning or at noon time. With any luck they'll be giving out good freebies as well as providing an excuse to raise the awareness level of our kids for their countries' heritage.

OK... because todays' gymnastics class was cancelled - we've just decided to make a run for Disneyland today/tonight. I gotta scramble now to pack stuff - get Julianna from school - and driving into the valley to meet up with Alicia. She ran an early early morning so is off setting that with heading to DL a couple hours before the normal end of the work day. <wink>

And please - I'm not boasting about doing DL - since on my birthday visit to DL last week it was painfully busy and we did no major rides on account of the crush of visitors. So tonite is an attempt to make up for last weekend. Plus I'm in the mood to get some authentic Chinese food from in town.

OK... gotta go now. Good cheer to all - sorry to miss chat tonite!

If anyone wants maps of Disneyland - I'll pick up a bunch with schedule for TODAY - so you can preplan a little. Just PM me (or Thomas_gin1@hotmail.com) an address and I'll mail it out saturday!

You are not a "mean daddy"! If you let her get away with too much for too long..or do everything for her (even though young...they need to have some independence) it doesn't always work out when they get older...I have a mom who carries her Kindergartener up to the door from her car ever morning...while carrying an infant!:confused3

Similar to what my dad said when Brendan asked for his blessing...just be good to her....and you think you are ready for her?
