What happened to "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" . Stacey you take care of yourself. You don't have that long to get better.

Welcome to our group of pirate: s. At least you don't have to go back and read the first 78,000 post that are buried somewhere on a desert island.

oh no, I grounghogged. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You most likely know I try to help out on the Main cruise boards, and answer some questions there, but in the last couple of nights, I feel like I am being 'shot' down everywhere I go.

Not paranoid, but when you try your best to help some posters are not happy,

One asked for a 'menu's link, I posted one that I knew off, and then another post comes in, ''is it current'' the OP wanted current ones.-Well I think it is?

REAS, try to help on that, and suggested when it comes out for 2009, check the package ensure it hasn't changed, another post back, 'its never changed, spoken to DCL'. Actually it has, rain-forest pass for couples massage for example, booking with DCL direct and Debbie, now on-line.

And the big one, there is a disser who lets say isnt into European cruising, and feels strongly the American family market do not cruise in the Med.

In all the years here, thats the first addition to my 'ignore list'.

Anyway, try to be positive, off to lick my wounds, I feel its time to give up posting on the main forum.

Sorry for rant!

AH yes, the Dis at its snippiest snarkiest worst.
Sorry for the annoying people, Andrew.

Guess who I saw today???

See Cheryl, he has pants :lmao:

Today was the 5 year anniversary of the card. They gave us really neat gifts.
A duffle with insulated bottom, blanket, lithograph, some pins and a gift card. Sad to say when I saw the van outside I knew there would be no Mickey Bars. :sad1:
They gave out the rice krispie ones with the chocolate on the ears.

I hate taking pictures.
but they insisted.

How fun!

Very good point M. And if we get bored we can pop it out and play with it. :cool1:

Tom beat me to my reply.

I was begging them to do a bikini wax when I had an epidural when DD was born but, no go! For as much as we pay they should be fanning us with palm branches.

I asked for a tummy tuck during my emergency c-section.
They didn't realize that I was serious.

Howdy Crew!

Just a quick posting. I've caught Crash's super bug and have been down for the count for the last week. I'm to the point where I'm simply trying to cough up a lung now. :headache:

On the other hand - I lost 7 pounds. Don't recommend the super bug as a weight loss program though. :sad2:

I actually managed to work a bunch today. But, I've hit my wall and will toddle off for a nap soon. This really sucks.
.

Sorry you feel like carp Esteri.

Hmmm, 7 lbs., you say???
Hello everyone. Just thought I would pop my head in here and say I will also be there along with everyone else here.

:welcome:

On my other cruise meets threads, I've been "banned" (by my friends) from going to the Main Boards. ;)
Seems like every time I do, someone wants to argue and I nearly get in trouble, because I can't resist a good argument.

It is sad, though, when you're only trying to help.

Yeah, well you are an aweful, irresponsible person who drinks in front of her kids!

Thanks for the welcomes. Now I wonder how long it will take me to go back and read all the previous posts......

Don't bother...we might scare you away!
Just read the first post on this thread and jump right in.

first one to get gout wins !!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh - I remember another one -
I am going to board my dogs for the first time for this cruise - it's going to cost between $1200 & $1600. (2 dogs)

$1600?????
That's about what I'm paying to bring one of my kids on TOAL!

Yes! :scared1: We had "thunder snow" Tuesday night. I heard something and I knew that wasn't a plane. Weird to hear thunder when it is snowing like crazy. I don't have to go out in it tomorrow, but dd's choir Family Fun Day is Sat.

thunder snow...isn't that a Bruce Springsteen song?

I like the form factor (physical attributes) and reputation of the Olympus over the Vivitar. COnsider ... the rubberized exterior make the Vivitar seem more resistant to shock - however that same yellow rubber makes it grippy in the pocket as well as bulky... so I believe it is less suited to slipping into a pocket - as the Oly could be carried. Plus the rubberized Vivitar uas NO ADVANTAGE over the Oly in terms of basic shock or water resistance. In fact, the Oly can boast of something the Vivitar cannot - and that's a design resistance to extreme COLD and resistance to being CRUSHED with it's tough cast magnesium body. AND... if you can find the Oly on clearance at Target with the rebate - THAT would be far cheaper. Now I am looking to match up the rebate online - then I'm going to send Alicia out to look for this at our local Targets. If I find the rebate coupon online I'll post a link below HERE.

However, as always ... the final photos you get will be the result of the PHOTOGRAPHERS' skill and artistic eye.

Wow you are a hard group to keep up with. Especially since my home computer died back in November. Glad I was reading and now know that the cruise is going to cost me $15 more. Makes me glad it is just me as I can dig up $15 even if I have to go panhandling.

Anyone else out here traveling solo? Has anyone ever done a cruise alone? I am wondering how strange it will be having dinner at Palo alone. Also if my server will think I am an alcoholic when I order a wine package.

Being from back east (NE PA) and going to school around Philly - youz guys was frequently used as well as "Where you at?"

Sorry to hear the bug is working its way through this group. I was sick for 3 weeks. Finally started getting better last week. It is brutal. You think you are getting better then it comes back at you. I only got an inhaler - Dr. said not much we can do - everyone has it.

BTW - looking into getting a laptop to replace dead home computer. Anyone out there have any recommendations? I am leaning towards a Dell XPS.

2 sailings back I sailed stag with one of my kids - plus I hung out with another fellow I met through Cruise Critics' meet thread plus a Mom traveling solo with her daughter (our kids hung out together a bit). My spouse could not break away and we felt the older daughter should stay in school... so I just took the younger one with me... and that sailing was a group sailing which my Dad was hosting (and paying for). I usually would NOT sail without my spouse except for my Dad being quite insistant on ME going with him ... otherwise he would not do it.

So... as for dining at Palos' .... I imagine you should never have to dine alone... not with this crowd gathered here. I myself have a group of just under 30 going - so my tables are full... but there are many here who might find an empty seat at thier Palo table with ya. In fact, I was wondering if we had organized Palo's arrangements yet. On my last Disney sailing we did a few rounds of Palos' brunches as a group.

As for the DELL XPS... the configurations for that line vary from $999 through $3700 for standard configuations. Which one were you leaning towards?

Hadn't heard 'jeet jet' in a long time -- not since leaving Pittsburgh. Someone already mentioned 'yinz' upthread. Had to eat at "Eat-N-Park" (yes, eat-AND-park) in Harrisburg a few weeks back and got a 'yinz' from the waitress and cringed on behalf of my Nigerian-born colleague.

Since leaving Pittsburgh, I had to learn the real names for all of these too (I used to have a site on Pittsburghese when I lived in the South). I'll leave it to the rest of you to figure out what some of these might be in te "real world"

I realize that others have already said this, but please don't feel obligated to do so! Just jump in whenever you feel like it for the chat and all the relevant info is on the pirate zone . . .:thumbsup2

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Congrats!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Gang,
Julie - wow 4,000 posts - Congrats!!!:cheer2:

OH - and Julie - great pics of your girls!! They are so beautiful and talented - how proud you must be.

I'm sure there's more - maybe it'll come back to me!!

Hi Chris! Thanks for both your comments . . .

Thanks, Cheryl . . .

For those who have experience w/boarding pets - what should I look for when I check out these places???
Also, I'm thinking about having the dogs have a few day sessions at the place so that they dont' go into abandonment shock or something being left for 2+ weeks. Good idea?? I can't think of any other way to prepare them.

TIA

Honestly, Chris, have you thought of a housesitter who will also take care of the dogs, or of having the dogs at someone's house for this long a period? I don't mind a good kennel for a few days, but this is a long time . . . .it's not even whether or not it is a good place, or the cost, I just find that the dogs don't get proper rest when kenneled between the noise and the smells of the other dogs . . .

That being said, if you have to go the kennel route, try for one that has indoor/outdoor runs for each pet or pets, see if they can put your two together in a larger enclosure, go there and see how it looks, smells, how the animals seem, etc. I know this is difficult for you, so good luck with figuring out something good for your doggies . . .

Oooh Boy!

Now I got a list of PA slang to spring on my spouse and her siblings. Remember.... she's the girl from rural PA ... rural as in her town had ONE signal light (today it has TWO now)... and when I 1st visited her family ... her Mom actually referred to me as a city slicker.

At least we spoke English in Cleveland.
...although I do say tin foil & sweeper & pop.

And 'you guys' is the northern version of y'all.

Hello everyone. Just thought I would pop my head in here and say I will also be there along with everyone else here.
Welcome!!!

And use it on comics to reverse and distort the image!

Or, if you see a nose you like in a magazine, you can copy it and put it on!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I seriously was going to post that but I did not think anyone would get it.:rotfl2: That is hysterical!!

I've got y'all beat. When SWMBO was going into surgery with our first (c-section), the doctor came and asked me if she wanted her tubes tied! Good thing I'm the kind of guy who knew the right answer, because I expect some husbands may have not answered that question correctly. I thought it was very odd she would ask me that. But then again, we were in a public hospital in Alabama (where my wife worked at the time).
