8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

I think I just missed you last week! I'm going to try & get on tonight, but I've already opened a bottle of Riesling so I should be in rare form! Have fun watching your movies! :flower3:

Already? I love it!

Linda and I are thinking that it's going to be a bottle of hot holiday wine kind of night.

Just have to vent - and this seems like the perfect place. We're trying to go down to DL for a quick xmas trip Dec 12 - 15. Trying to book with airmiles - not having fun! Times just aren't working. I need my mouse fix.......

OK...

Dog just got a bath...

Last nite at the soccer practice Julianna was walking our 100+ pound Samoyed around the park - with the dog occasionally pulling her as he chased the ducks ... when she sort of lost control ( duh... ) of him and our Sammy decided those darn ducks were EASY to catch if only he'd jump into the lake after them! Julianna kept mumbling "I'm soooo sorry Daddy..." and I sort of was silent as I walked our filthy dripping wet dog back to my Lexus thinking "... it's gonna SMELL of a wet dirty dog for days now... and from filthy POND water populated by a bunch of ducks!"... Well... I didn't have any serious words for Julianna as I told her if she HAD to let go of the leash to do so... and maybe I should have known better than to let her run off with our Samoyed where I was not near enough to help in a pinch.

So - being the evening - we kept the dog outside and now he just had his bath. He actually didn't look so bad BEFORE the bath - but the water went murky grey and was kind of yucky looking. At any rate - he had a double shampooing and a nice soak - followed by a little bit of conditioner and rinse. Now he's positively huggable - if not for the excessive shedding he goes through after every bath... or more so when he's dried AFTER a good bath. Maybe it would be a good thing to send him to a kennel now thatwe're about to be away for a week? Well... my sister is coming over to house sit and look after the dog - so with any luck this will be OK for just this short little week.

Is it possible - or practical to try booking out of Seattle? If you're near Vancouver - ???? - hen maybe you could drive down to Seattle and overnight there - maybe even tour around a day before you jet down to LA?

Well my excuse is that I started cooking early because I'm making a big pan of homemade mac & cheese which takes forever since I grate all the cheese by hand & I sometimes like to sip a glass of wine & listen to opera while I'm cooking!

We love flying out of Seattle. Seattle isn't the issue. Issue is getting from Victoria to Seattle. Costs us more to flying from Victoria to Seattle ($200 per person) than from Seattle to LA ($169 per person).

Timing is the main issue due to the kids and school. Trying to minimize the time they are off. If we take the ferry (1.5 hours - $100 each way) then it's an .50 hour drive to the border (god knows how long there - anywhere from 15min to 4 hours) and then a 2.5 hour drive to Seattle.

Trying to use airmiles and they are routing us VIC - CALGARY,AB then CALGARY - LAX.

We could even have a mini-DIS meet if you did that! Disfreaks, you, I and families!

Small, small step in the job hunt. I'll be testing tomorrow for 2 different positions with one of our public transportation agencies. Me and a bunch of other people! I don't know how many people they invited to test, but it's not like a personal invitation to interview. They'll give basic office skills tests and I have to provide a typing certificate.

But my chances are greater because it's 2 different tests for 2 different positions. And hopefully I can name drop since my brother currently works for this agency. AND he came in 2nd in a giant worldwide competition of train mechanics from all across the country. So his name is out there in this company.

Pass the bottle Diane..... I got my loser phone call finally from the city. :(:sad2:

Good luck, Monica, and keep your chin up, K --

Hi guys,
We miss everyone. Chris sorry you are still walking around with the crud. Took me a long time to get rid of it. Saw Dr Thurs for checkup and got my flu shot. Ouch it hurt. I hope K and Monica, you get hooked up with a job soon. K, sorry you don't live closer to Wilmington as they are always looking for people and insurance applies asap.I know how depressing it is to not be able to get anything with decent pay. Went thru that years ago and DM had to subsidize us for about a year when DH was back in school. The kids were so tired of my inventive cheapo meals. To this day they will not look at tuna casserole.

Things have been hectic to say the least. I completed a home project yesterday and am darn proud of it. DH needed a banister on the side of the wall that didn't have one for stability coming down as his knee is shot. I bought the banister, had them cut it to the right lengths for me, sanded the edges, ran a cord line down so it would be at the right angle and height and finished the job in under 3 hours all by myself.:goodvibes

It's been rainy and overcast here and this might put a damper on leaving today.Hate to drive in the rain. Sorry I haven't been on chat. Will try when I have so free time.........

Now I know why I still feel like I am onboard the ship! They haven't refunded me what I had left for OBC yet!:rotfl2:

I had not put a credit card on my account at the beginning since I had an OBC from DCL and DU, but when I went to guest services the last night and found I still had some OBC left, I put a credit card down so it would be refunded to that so I wouldn't have to go to GS in the morning. They said it would take one or two statements. Well, I still haven't gotten it.

Called DCL this morning and they have to look into it. Good thing I still have my printout from onboard. I still had over $300 left!
