8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Hey Julie - your father will be in my prayers. I've been there. My mom has been through 2 separate bypass surgeries (4 the first time, then 3 9 yrs later), along with a bunch of stints and angioplastys in between. And she has made it through beautifully.

Hang in there and hugs to you and the girls.

Thanks for the hugs and good thoughts, Monica:lovestruc

Your children attend a Waldorf school, don't they? Years ago I read a ton of books on the method. My youngest attend a Montessori Preschool for 3yrs. I don't know of any Waldorf schools in our area -- I think the closet would be Austin and thats 3 -4 hrs away....
I like both of those methods. But, then I am a great proponent of *handwork* skills, etc....

Yes, we attend a Waldorf school. Last weekend we needed to mend the little tears in the dragon skin we inheirited. So we plunked down all those 6th graders (boys and girls - though mostly girls, the boys were more interested in figuring out the dragon bones) with needle and thread and told them to sew it up. They were teaching some of the parents how to do it too! Boy was I glad for five, going on six years of handwork! They didn't find the chore too onerous.

Yes, I'll post pictures. We finished up the red dye work today and it turned out beautifully! A fire red on the gauze overlay, and a deep blood red (almost purple) on the organza (for the wings) - yes they were dyed in the same dyebath. I was worried that we'd have a "pink" dragon because we used the cotton/rayon processing technique on silk - but it didn't fade all that much at all. I'm terribly pleased with the result. Slik may become my new favorite fabric to work with. It's very, very sturdy.

And I got all the dye concentrates mixed up for tomorrow. Tomorrow I'll arm all those 6th graders with squirt bottles and they'll have at the dragon skin. All 100 square yards of it! Watch out! :scared1:

.

Hi everyone! When I got back from the trip (and the 5 night following and a few days at WDW), my father had to have triple bypass surgery, so needless to say, things have been crazy and this is my first chance to log in here. He seems to be doing well so far, and was moved out of CICU today and into a regular room.

First of all, thanks to everyone for the friendly interactions, wonderful fish extender and other gifts, etc., on this cruise . . . what a special one it was.

We really enjoyed meeting you and the girls at DL and on the cruise.

Glad to hear that your Dad is doing well. We'll include him in our prayers for a full and speedy recovery.

That sounds so cool. I can't wait to see the pictures!

Hi all, just arrived home a few hours ago after 11 fab nights at SSR.

Wow does that flight home suck majorly though! It was around 30 hours from getting up "yesterday morning" to arriving home todayand its still a long way to go until bedtime. Still at least the sun is out and we have come home to spring. Trees are in blossom and the daffs are in flower.

It was such a thrill to meet so many of you, we just had a simply wonderful time and thank you all again for such kindness and generosity.

I'll try to ketchup later but the lounge is a mess with partially unpacked luggage and we are back to work tomorrow so it may take a bit to get through the messages LOL

Glad you made it home safely! We really enjoyed meeting you as well.

And I'm jealous that you're going into spring! I love fall, but that means winter is right behind.

Thanks.

Hi Julie I have been thinking about you and your dad. Glad to hear he is doing well so far :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

That one was for you Coral. I can still see your face as we told thoes jokes

I have to admit I was a bit red faced, but thought they were funny. :lmao:

Well I think Mirands guilted him into getting the pictures off the cameras. I had her ask him "Daddy, I sure would like to see our pictures." The way I ask makes him think "Oh great, here's something else she wants me to do". ;)
Miranda's way works ssooooo much better than mine.

OK he just finished one camra. 3 more to go. Will be trying to get them on smugmug this weekend. Yes, Cheryl- carpet angels are there. :thumbsup2

Well Ike was a non-issue in Dallas anyway. Just a light sprinkle all day. No big winds or anything.
Hope Kim comes home to a non-issue too in Houston.

Finally got the phone call I had been waiting for. Now I know why it took so long to get it. They chose someone else and they accepted, so no job for me.

I honestly didn't expect the first job I interviewed for to be the one but it's still a let down that I didn't get it.

Back to the hunt.

:( sending good vibes your way. :goodvibes

Good news- I no longer have a fracture in my foot. The part that was fractured is still much narrower then the rest of the bone. So I have to wear the walking boot for 2 more weeks. I have to go back again on October 21st to make sure everything is still good. The doctor seemed surprised and impressed that it was healing on its own.

 yeah glad to hear things are well and all the partying did not hurt.

Okay so I have booked the Disneyland Hotel for the nights of 12th ,13th and 14th , So Saturday the 14th we will make the Date for the DIS meet , now we always go to Disneyland in March to celebrate our Birthdays , and I think Stace does too , so we hope that all that can will join us for the Pirates Reunion and also could be Future Cruisers meet as by then I am sure we will all probably be booked on other cruises after Oct 7th , Speaking of which

It does look like DCL is going to the Baltic so our plan is that we will do the last Baltic cruise and then do the Repo back to Port Canaveral , I am hoping that on the Repo that stops will include Ireland , England and France .. If they do we are so doing back 2 back ....I hope that many of you will be on one of these 2 cruises as I enjoyed many of your guy's company and look forward to seeing you all again ......

So , What say You !!!!

TAKE WHAT YOU CAN !!!!!

GIVE NOTHING BACK - I think my arm can be twisted. Especially since I now have a partner in crime to party with - Kimmy!

I remember standing in the doorway outside RBD ..not realizing it was a hairpiece.she scared the carp out of me when she whipped it off! :rotfl2:
That was hilarious. In fact I have never laughed as much as I did those nights in RBD.

In all seriousness (if that's possible), I was apprehensive about going on such a long trip "by myself" (because I intended to find a roommate 18 months ago) but this group of Pirates truly made this a TOAL that I will never forget. Thanks for everything!! :cloud9:
Kim
I am so glad we met - I had such a great time especially at night with you and Melody.

The vid of DIS Pirates doing the 'Ole Rope Swing' from Jolly Pirates is now up on the SmugMug site:

OMG - I so wish I did this with you guys. I kinda wished I did but this put the icing on the cake.

Howdy Crew!
Are we still flapping our traps here??? Like I should be surprised?? :rotfl2:

We got back to a very balmy and pleasant Central Valley evening (mid-80's, low humitidy), and as we're sitting outside the airport waiting for my brother to pull around from the waiting lot the boyz (in long pants and t-shirts!) are complaining.... "Mom, I'm Freeeeezing!!!" :lmao:

George's contract with the Sacramento Opera was in the mail - so it's official, he'll be singing in La Bohem (chrous) in the spring. One of the benefits he gets is buy 3 tickets, get the 4th free.... They're doing Pirates of Penzance this fall. We're going to the Nov 23 (weekend before Tgiving) Sunday Matinee (2pm) with the boyz. It's a GREAT show for kids. Who's up for a NoCal Pirate Reunion??? (He was pretty bummed that he won't be singing in that one.)

When I got off the plane in shorts at SFO I thought I would freeze to death when I walked outside. But I was shocked to find it quite warm and warm in the city for the rest of week. How exciting about the Opera!

Well I have been back now for 2 weekends and still not unpacked. I finished the laundry this week, but now it is just in a pile and I swear my clothes still smell like sun block. My cat, Buddy has been a love bug. I hope to get the hard drive I got just before departing put in my desktop and download my pictures this week.

I want to thank everyone who organized anything. I had a blast from the tastings, my tablemates, FE exchange, Princess Night, Pirate Night, PJ Breakfast, Secret Mickey, and the nights in RBD, etc. as I am sure I am forgetting something.

Getting back to reality bites, but at least I stopped swaying in 4 days and have finally stopped waking up at night and not knowing where I was.

Look forward to keeping up with this thread and the new one. Prayers for all who need them.

Thanks so much,Jo -- I still remember your encouraging words to me on the cruise when I told you I had been trying to keep up with his health while on the cruise. You are the best! I was so glad to spend some time with you, however brief, on the cruise.

Thanks so much, Liz. I hope you and Camilo and your inlaws had as much fun as you seemed to every time I saw you on the cruise!

INCREDIBLE Tom!!! Which day was this?

Good Sunday morning Everyone!:surfweb:

Can someone give me the exact dates of the BALTIC cruise that includes the TA back to PC. Thanks!

Also how do I go about showing the pirate Baltic Sea picture in my signature?

I too am still not fully unpacked. Suitcases are open and I am trying to still sort out everything. Laundry is done. I am procrastinating because I realized when I returned home on Sept 5th(spent 5 days at WDW) summer was over! I am trying to plan a trip in December so I can go to the MVMCP, I haven't missed it in the past several years and I love the decorations and I get most of my Christmas shopping done down there. Also, have a family trip planned for January(I always celebrate my birthday:bday: with Mickey) with my dad and two sisters.

There is a "Princess" marathon in March that my sisters Reenienyprincess: and lainie1222princess: are thinking of doing so of course I will go down for that tooand cheer them on.

Prayers and pixiedust: go out to everyone in Texas and the gulf coast who were affected by hurricaine "IKE".

Have a good day everyone and talk to you later.

Karen
