8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Hi everyone! When I got back from the trip (and the 5 night following and a few days at WDW), my father had to have triple bypass surgery, so needless to say, things have been crazy and this is my first chance to log in here. He seems to be doing well so far, and was moved out of CICU today and into a regular room.
Hey Julie:yay:

Prayers that everything goes smoothly with your Dad:hug:

I was disappointed we didn't get on the same boat for the Jolly Pirate:guilty:

It was fun seeing you and your DDs on the ship again though:cool1:

Hi all, just arrived home a few hours ago after 11 fab nights at SSR.

Wow does that flight home suck majorly though! It was around 30 hours from getting up "yesterday morning" to arriving home todayand its still a long way to go until bedtime. Still at least the sun is out and we have come home to spring. Trees are in blossom and the daffs are in flower.

It was such a thrill to meet so many of you, we just had a simply wonderful time and thank you all again for such kindness and generosity.

I'll try to ketchup later but the lounge is a mess with partially unpacked luggage and we are back to work tomorrow so it may take a bit to get through the messages LOL

Hi Paula:yay:
It was great meeting you and your family too:thumbsup2

Too bad about those mosquitos on deck 4:headache:

Our den is getting better as we put things away, but we are still not completely done and we've been home much longer:rolleyes1

Don't know if any of you had friends/family tracking you using our SPOT. We've saved the track for the entire cruise. Many thanks to our Canal day Deck 10 SPOT baby sitters. We wound up zip tying it to a cross rail holding up nets at the sports deck - so we got a great track through the canal. George wants to overlay it onto Google Earth, when that happens we'll let you know. Also, I think there's a way we can turn it into JPG files. If we figure that out - I'll add them to the photo share site. Seeing as how we took about 15 (still) pictures during the entire cruise - it's the only contrubution we can make. Good thing we're surrounded by shutter bugs! :rotfl2:

Oh! I forgot to share this story.... 1am on our fist sea day after Aruba my phone rings. It's my parents, and I'm not partucularly interested in talking to them at 1am. I don't get to the phone in time, so they go off into the either. I double check SPOT to make sure that the HELP or 911 button didn't accidently get pushed. Phone rings again. Now, if they're calling twice in a row something's wrong...

"Hello?"

"Hi, it's mom. (OK, dad's in the hospital) Hey, SPOT hasn't had a track in about 10 hours. Did you know there are hurricanes in the area? What are you going to do?"

Now I ask you, what on earth am I supposed to do with this information at one in the morning? Stomp. Stomp. Stomp. Bang. Bang. Bang. Captain Tom? Sorry to disturb you. My mom just called. She wants you to know there are hurrincanes in the area. And she's worried. Just in case you didn't already know.... Pthththt.

"Mom. The captain isn't going to take a ship full of kids through a hurricane. We'll go around. And SPOT doesn't always work well on the veranda - it can't see enough of the sky. So we have to take it to the open deck to get a really good track."

"Oh. Okay. Good night."

Sigh.

This so cracked me up:laughing:
Both my Mom and my MiL were worried about us sailing into the hurricane too:rolleyes:
I tried to explain that the captain has the ability to see hurricanes coming and sail the ship around them:rolleyes1

This is the canal day track from my Sony Imagemate GPS, along with the Google track:

Pure luck, happened to have camera in right direction, focus on manual set to infinity and finger on the trigger, otherwise not a shot of getting them

Thanks Tom, these are great. Especially since this was the only wildlife I saw the entire trip. But then again, I didn't spend much time watching the water. They need to put a bar next to the rails. Hmm...maybe not a good idea though.

Wow, what great pics! We saw rays jumping one day, but did not get any pics. Same for the dolphins and turtle.

I have finally gotten my pics onto the computer. Maybe when I am done with laundry and schoolwork I can uplaod some tonight. We took a jeep tour in Aruba, so we got a lot of land shots, and I got a shot of the JP sailing in the distance as we drove along the road.

It's been a long week. I've had a lot of work since I did not have time to set up the room before school started. And they are asking us to do extra assessments this year, too. But I have a nice group of teens, so even though it is a lot of work, I don't mind it as much. Except when I am always the last one to leave my hallway!

Hi Julie,

Hope your father has a speedy recovery. It was great to meet you & your girls.

It was great to meet you as well, Lisa -- I was just looking at some of my photos and my oldest daughter took a picture of me coming off the banana bus in Aruba with you right behind me -- if we didn't both look so grumpy (and I don't think either of us was, either!) I would send it to you . . .:rotfl:

It was fun seeing you again, too . . . the annoying thing about the JP was that I had been up for hours and could have easily been out and on the first bus if I had realized it was important . . . but I did have a good time and am not going to worry about it at this point.

That's a great story Esteri!:lmao:

My Dad tracked your SPOT during the trip. I got an e-mail that weent a little like this:

"It's 10:38 PM and your friend's dot is still showing that you guys are still in Aruba. I'm not sure what time you were supposed to leave. Your Mom and I were worried that yoiu're stuck there because of the hurricanes. Please e-mail us back right away to let us know you're OK and what's going on!"

Guess I should have gone with you to bang on Capt. Tom's door to find out what his hurricane contingency plan was.

That is funny - my parents were tracking on sailwx.info - at on 8-30 we were off the coast of India. Atleast we were out of the way of the hurricanes.... :rotfl:

Then my MIL was calling ( I was not answering) are you guys coming home early.... yeah - let me jump ship and head right home. Then she called on the 31st to say my FIL had gone to Erie, PA to pick us up hope we are there. ummm... we were flying in on the 1st and into CLEVELAND. Quick call to FIL and he was at home and no plans on going to Erie :confused3

crazy.

I had a message on my cell phone the last night (when I could finally get my messages) from my sister. She was in tears she was so worried about us. She'd seen pictures of the hurricanes and just couldn't understand why cruise ships sailed in the Caribbean during hurricane season. I called her from MCO to let her know we were fine. :sad2: I guess I could of joined you both in the banging on the door.

Ok, so not the same ones I saw, but I'll steal the pics anyway. The ones I saw were actually in the bay. I saw them while on the tender back to the ship.

I think these are the same ones we saw while on our Tallship excursion. There was quite a few of them "floppin" around!

LOL! That makes me glad that we did NOT let family know how to contact us onboard. :rotfl2: MIL did leave a message...well she said "hello" before hanging up on the answering machine at home on 8/27. Hmmm...told everyone we wouldn't be home until 9/2 pm. Guess they just wanted to be sure we were really gone?
