8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

When we got off in Cartegena the cameras were rolling and flashes were going off so I made a note to check out the local papers when we got home. I just had the chance to do that and have found some articles from our visit there. :) Does anyone recognize these people?

Only problem is that they don't work when you try to switch pictures :confused3

Thanks, Crash -- so far he is doing really, really well for an 80 year old . . .

I found out just before the cruise (while I was in California) that it looked like he might have to have this surgery, and checking in for news while on the cruise was really nerve racking, but luckily he was able to have the surgery after I returned and is doing very well so far.

A little "faith, trust, and pixie dust" never, ever hurts, so thanks for that!
keeping you all in our thoughts! Glad to hear he is doing well!
Thanks, Coral. We are still in San Antonio but are planning to return home tomorrow. (Six people in one hotel room for 5 days is more than enough!) My dad has been by our place, and surprisingly, we are in pretty good shape. We have some fence damage and minor roof damage, but that's about it. I was certain we'd have windows broken out or water in the house so I am very pleased. Galveston was just devastated! We have also been without power since Ike hit, which is why we haven't been in a hurry to get home. Apparently, power is slowly coming back on in the neighborhoods around us so hopefully it won't be long for us. My dad did get power back on today so we can stay with him for a couple days if we need to.

Oh, and our schools are closed "until further notice". I really hope they open up soon, but I'm pretty sure they'll be closed all week. Add in the 2 days they closed last week and we've got 7 days to make up. I hope they try to make them up before the standardized testing begins rather than push our last day of school out. We have plans to leave the day after school lets out for a trip to WDW with my family. We've booked a week in a 2 bedroom villa at the new Kidani Village building at the Animal Kingdom Lodge followed by 5 nights in a Beach Cottage at Vero Beach. I will not be happy if I have to change our vacation plans!

Kim
Hoping that you can get back home and on to your normal lives soon.

Isn't that Joiseymom from this thread?????
DD14 confirmed that is Joiseymom's DD in the black hat!

I was so glad for Pirate night to be over so he could shave! ACK!!!

Ugh. My DH was thrilled that the formal nights were almost 2 weeks apart. He didn't want to shave at all, but had to in uniform. We compromise on a goatee, since I can't stand the whole scruffy beard thing. (I married a military guy for a reason!) Well, about 3-4 days into the cruise, my DH was showing up for dinner in a goatee and Esteri's DH was still trying to work the Mr. Scruffy thing. Eventually he gave in to peer pressure!

Is that M with a drink in her hand?? Why am I not surprised? At least we've solved the puzzle of why the rum is always gone!

Who meeeee???

I'm innocent!

Did anyone else see Esteri's husband get mobbed by reporters???
It was too funny. Someone with basically a camcorder asked him a question. He answered them in Spanish and within about 3 seconds there was a MOB of TV cameras and microphones around him! Poor George didn't seem to know what to do!

I got the story from Esteri in Aruba on the night dive. I understand he recovered nicely :scared1: and very quickly pixiedust: disappeared.

Funny story

2010 thread,

The dates on the Baltic's do not tie up with the usual May and August REPO dates that DCL traditionally does, and I personally cannot see them coming all that way for a shorter season in the Baltic, they make their most money in the destination area, not on the REPO's so reducing the time doesn't make sense.

I have herd about a series of one way cruises, etc, so my conjecture is there is a phantom cruise or 2, in between the Repos and the Baltic's, IE the Phantom cruise I am talking about is late July or early August.

Ahhhhhhh. Thanks. Huh. We may have some difficult decisions to make on the 7th then.

Yeup. We had matching facial hair at the M & Esteri Interchangable Family table. Does that mean the dads were interchangable too?

Think Disney will be having that new specialty cruise any time soon? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The guy who asked him if he spoke Spanish wasn't carrying a camera. George thought he was just some guy/tour guide looking for his party. When he answer "a little" (thinking to be helpful) - that's when he was mobbed. His response was "I'm sorry" (in Spanish) and RAN! No good deed goes unpunished. :rotfl2:

By the time I'd rounded him up at the bus he was white as a sheet, and couldn't get on the bus fast enough.

You should hear him now. Issac had Spanish today (1st grade) and was showing off the three new words he learned at dinner. So, now they're having a tutorial. :goodvibes

No where near the Gulf Coast . . . and yet . . .

Hey folks, kindly keep all of us in Northwest Indiana in your prayers.

You would not think that a hurricane would do in the Chicagoland area, but that is exactly what happened this past weekend.

The remnants of Hurricane Ike went through our country and as it dumped rain in Northwest Indiana all day Saturday and Sunday, rivers, creeks, ponds, and lakes all flooded.

The town I live in had to evacuate thousands of people from their homes. Some homes are almost completely under water. Businesses along the main street are submerged. The busiest highway for truck traffic in the nation (I 80/94) has been closed for two days and there is really no re-open date in sight.

http://www.thetimesonline.com

Keep all the affected people in your prayers, please.

At least we did not get the knock-out punch. Originally, the forecast called for 30 mile and hour sustained winds for Sunday night. If they would have come, the trees would not have been able to stand since they are in completely saturated ground and that would have caused massive power outages as well.

Schools are closed, nursing homes and clinics have had to be evacuated. It is a real mess.

Remember us!

Thanks.

This weekend I have been keeping all the people in the areas effected areas of this storm in my thoughts and prayers.

Tonight on the news was a segment on Munster, Indiana and I kept thinking, " I know there is someone from the DIS that is from there", but I just could not remember who.

The stories being reported were very scary indeed and I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers :grouphug:

Steve didn't see it happen & when we got on our tour bus, I told him about it. Well, my DH, knowing what George does and being my paranoid DH, tried to jump off our bus..."George doesn't want to be on TV in Colombia..."

I told him he has a goatee, it's all good...

Cleveland got hit as well. Right now, my brother and BIL are moving food from my in-law's freezer to my dad's house. They are about 2 miles apart, but my dad has power, my in-laws are out of town and don't.

If the biggest issue they face is my MIL's roast beef spoiling, then we are lucky.

Isn't that Joiseymom from this thread?????

yes that is her! Wow she's famous now. I knew her when...... LOL

Hey, spent the day at the hospital today... just thought I'd share our good news. We have a new baby in the family! My sister had her baby... finally a girl and she's doing great- after a short scare of breathing issues! (long story short- my sister has had a lot of miscarriages and one premature birth- he died after just over an hour from birth :sad1: With this pregnancy she developed polhydramnios... which I had with all 3 of my kids but this was the first for her- and they had to take Chloe out 3 weeks early... and one of her sons she had a week early ended up in NICU for a week with breathing issues- so we were worried but she's doing great! Her only other daughter is almost 12yrs old- all boys after that... so very excited when the sonograms showed finally another girl. And this is the last grandbaby for my parents... all us girls are "fixed" now (me and my sisters)! She had a tubal ligation with the c-section. So do you think the "baby" of the family might end up a WEE bit spoiled? not like all our other children aren't spoiled too though LOL)

Please welcome Chloe Jean to the world.... don't hate her because she's beautiful! hehe

Just had to share...
She's so teensy compared to my sister's other babies (her husband is 6'5 and all her kids were over 9lbs and over 21.5 inches long) -Chloe was only 7lbs 12oz and 18.5 inches! (exactly the same as Ruby was born, btw. LOL) She's a doll baby... lots of hair (very UNLIKE Ruby LOL) and nursing like a champ already. :)

Lost my multi-quotes again!

Prayers to to families with illnesses.

Congrats to little Chloe (she is gorgeous!).

And prayers to all affected by the storms.

Nice name:rotfl2: :rotfl2: hope the crud goes,

If you want to join the Phantom Cruise there are 999 people on it and space for one more.

Cruise motto, ''DEAD DOGS DON'T WAG THEIR TAILS''

PS

Talking crud, ( as I often do!) was 16.3 on my return to the UK ( USA Translation ''HUGE'') , down to 15.9 today, ( USA Translation ''Less HUGE'' 8 pounds off )and still exercising.

Why do I always get the keyboard that can't spell?

Congrats on the weight loss - i'll find out tonight whether I'm heading in the right direction, but as I miraculously only put on 2lb, I guess the weight loss won't be as spectacular as yours

That makes sense, they kept asking everyone who was getting off if they spoke Spanish. They wanted to talk to someone on the ship!

Glad it looks like you are in pretty good shape. They are reopening our Houston office tomorrow so soulds like progress is being made. M meice goes to Rice and they advised all the students to stay. They moved all the kids to her dorm and they had generators. She said no problems.
