Here's our pre-meet at Blue Bayou.

Anyone seen any posts from Maine Jennifer re: how her mom is doing?

:sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1:

I'm so sorry I missed it (although not sorry to have missed the high prices and happy that Tina and Kaitlin were able to take our place)!!! It would have been so nice to have been able to start getting to know you that much sooner.

However, one of the funniest things in that very unfunny day was Dan's face when I told him he was going to have to call a total stranger and explain why we wouldn't be making it to lunch :lmao: Of course, he thinks I should post the photo of the paramedics carting me away

This port may have stole the show...

In my opinion... this port was this highlight port thus far.

I think that those who stayed on board out of whatever fears they may have had missed out on some lovely architecture and scenery.

And unlike some other ports, the excursions were fabulously run.

And the Cartagena govt has folkloric band / dancers there to greet us at the port and were giving out fruit trinkets to us cruisers... they really went all out...

Bravo!
We all really enjoyed this port too. We had nothing pre-planned, but got a wonderful van and tour guide for our group of 16 and had a great day seeing this very interesting port.

thank you for this

After a quick stop at Earl of Sanwich at DTD we dropped Heather off at MCO and she is home safe and sound in CT. Our drive home was uneventful and now all I need to do is convince myself it is really over. It was a wonderful trip -- made more so by all of you wonderful people. Special thanks to all who added their congratulations to Heather on finishing her PhD.

We are keeping a close eye on the Weather Channel with hopes that our fellow cruisers have a wonderful AND UNEVENTFUL 5 day.

Time to call it a night.

Barbara
Earl's is my family & groups new favorite place in DTD...LOL

I just finished downloading the pics from the trip, the final tally was 8395 pics - so there should be a good one or two in there somewhere. pirate:

Here's a couple of teaser pics to keep ya going,

Great pictures!

Hi Everyone!

Brendan and I can't thank you enough for enhancing our vacation! We had so much fun with all of you that we met and hope we can keep our friendships...

We enjoyed our group excursions, our bumping in to one another and our rockin' d bar evenings!

Thank you thank you thank you..this will be a trip that won't be forgotten....

Hopefully everyone got home or to their next destination safely!

We got home last night and Brendan's car wouldn't start! Battery gone...had to get a new one (at least it was under warranty!)

He woke up and said "I'll meet you at topsiders!"

And on a sad note..came home to find out that Petey our younger cat had died:sad1: last Friday he wasn't feeling well and they took him to vet on Saturday..cancer was all throughout his body....it was a shock because he NEVER showed any symptoms...we are all heartbroken including my Peanut cat,,he misses his buddy....

Chrissie
Hugs Chrissie! So sorry to hear about Petey

Busy day today. It was supposed to be Trevoy's first day of school, but for some reason, the school he's supposed to be going to doesn't have his records. The school he went to for most of last year doesn't have them. And a 3rd school, which is technically the one we're supposed to go to according to our address, says they don't have them either. Although I've gotten the automated phone messages from this 3rd school. Fortunately he has the same teacher this year as he had last year, and she knows he's supposed to be in her class. He'll be starting tomorrow, whether or not they find his records.

Still haven't gotten any of my mail. There may be something in there about the school situation, but since I had a vacation hold on, I haven't gotten anything yet. Our mail delivery is usually late in the afternoon. But I can't remember if I scheduled today as my return day or tomorrow.

No news on the job yet. No phone calls or emails from them.

Came home to some sad family news. Found out my uncle passed away. Tough timing (well it's always tough) but this past weekend was our family reunion. None of his part of the family were there. We always referred to him as our "Fearless Leader" since he was the eldest of my dad's siblings. He lost his wife of 60+ years about 6 months ago and deteriorated rapidly after that. Broken heart I believe. Wish I could go to the services but I have no one to take care of Trevoy.
Sorry to hear about your uncle, Monica
Prayers to you & your family!

Hey folks, I hope you can bear with me through another post like this, but looks like I'm in for some rough times ahead. Trevoy is really depressed over being home. This is beyond the normal post vacation blues. He's really down. Added to that is the stress over going back to school, which is his main trigger for his depression. And he's afraid of my brother again. Trevoy was talking to his grandma about the trip and admitted that he got into it with me. My brother overheard and pretty much went off on Trevoy. Unfortunately I wasn't around and don't know exactly what happened.

We've got an appointment next week with the therapist, but I'm going to try to get him in tomorrow after school. I'm seeing the same symptoms as in the past and I fear that another hospital stay may be coming on.
More prayers to you guys!

:scared1: Just saw that someone uploaded the speedo parade...My apologies to those blinded by me :flower3:

Thanks to those who returned entries for the FE Pirate "Poker" Run. We had around 45 entries returned. I posted the results on our door, but since it was the end of the cruise, thought most wouldn't have seen, so I'll list them here. We actually had a "Five of a Kind" submitted by our wonderful tablemates Deanna (buckifan) and Rob. We made them "Honorary" Pirate Kings as they weren't really FE participants, but we wanted to share with them some of the fun. We awarded them a nice DCL Pirate Photo Frame. Of the FE participants, the awards were:

PIRATE KING: Tiger24 with a Full House (3 Queens, 2 Kings). Awarded: An antique deck of Souvenir Panama Canal Playing Cards. Printed in 1926, these were very nice. They had images of the construction of the canal and images of early transits. The suit of Spades featured early 1920's images of U.S. battleships transitting the canal. You could tell the story of Pearl Harbor with these cards, as the Arizona, Maryland, West Virginia, Tennessee and others all passed through the Canal and were imaged in this set. I showed these to Captain Puckett (apologies if I have his name wrong) who was doing the Canal presentations all week. He had seen many of the images through the national archives, but wasn't aware that they were at one time printed on souvenir playing cards. So he mentioned he'd be checking out e-bay when he got home.:) He was a super interesting guy. I saw him up on top deck after the mexican deck party as my DD9 and Rob's DD8 wanted to stay for the Cheetah Girl premiere. I asked him if he was from Ohio because he really seemed to talk up Ohio's part in constructing the canal. He seemed surprised, but said "Yes, I'm from east of Columbus." He sat down and chatted for the next 1-1/2 hours while we waited out the Cheetah girl movie.

COMMODORE: Fincantieri with a Flush. Awarded a deck of cards with the group's "DIS & Captain Jack Arrrr Back" logo on the back of the cards.

CAPTAIN: 4FosterKids with a Straight. Also received a deck of cards with the group's logo.

CHARTMAN: Tina (I believe ID is CastawayTina?). She submitted the worst hand with a Jack being the high card. We awarded her a Captain Jack Sparrow Pirate Flag.

Thanks again to all who played along. We had a fun time planning it and it sounded like many of you enjoyed it.

We LOVED the poker run! Thanks so much for putting it all together! It was very creative and fun! We love our deck of cards!!

Oh David ,,,,,,,,,,,,,I wish I could have talked to Helen a little longer!!!  It was great to see Alex and how adult he is now. The girls will be really be chasing him now.;) I wish we could have stayed for a longer visit.

I didn't even get to see David!!! I had to *rush* over to our bus and then we SAT on the bus for about a half hour!!! UUGGHH!!! I did get to hug Helen, Alex & Bethan!!!!
And we so enjoyed the treats!!! :goodvibes

Had the strangest dream last night... Dreamed we already took the TOAL...

But it wasn't a dream. It was a place, and you, and you, and you, ... and you were there. [Everyone laughs] But you couldn't have been, could you?

No, Aunt Em. This is a real, truly live place. And I remember ... But most of it was beautiful. But just the same, all I kept saying to everybody was,

'I DO NOT want to go home.' And they sent me home [any way]

Doesn't anybody believe me?

Back to school... DS11 is vomiting...

Hey M, how many more Mondays 'til vacation...

Lisa, you were just like I thought you would be!!! I am just sorry it was so late int eh cruise when I finally met you!!!

Trevoy slept with his lanyard on and is still wearing it now.

I wore mine the entire time I was in WDW. :goodvibes
We ran into lots of people from the cruise!

My good news/bad news...
Came back and found out I DO still have a job, Boeing didn't start the process to say I abandoned my job. Though it still looks like a very distinct chance we will be going on strike as of 12:01AM Thursday. The union is recommending that we vote no on the contract Boeing is offering and also vote to authorize a strike. We vote tomorrow and will know by tomorrow night if we are striking. I need to look over paperwork to find out what the company is offering.

Discovered that while we were on the TOAL, someone was using my debit card number fraudulently to the tune of about 2500.00. Since DH and I both have our cards, they had to have made a card with my number on it. All the activity took place up here in Washington. Don't know when, where or how they got the number. I should have the money back in my account in 10 business days at the most. It could take up to 60 days to research everything.

So sorry about the card!!! I enjoyed meeting you and your dh -- I wish there had been more time to get to *know* everyone while on board!!!

Extra special thanks to:
All those that particpated in the FE exchange- what fun that was and what awesome items we received! Thank you all so much! (and special thanks to Julie for task forcing the cabin updates for the FE exchange!)

All those that handled the shirts, lanyards, nametags, wristbands, patch exchange, etc. You guys are awesome!

I agree with all of this!!! :goodvibes

We could have another mini meet next year!!!

I'm game!!! :thumbsup2 I'll be in the Chicago area around Father's Day 2009..... WDW the last week of Sept 2009.......

OK probably deliberate but neat that we caught it....

365780488_i5XhQ-S.jpg
That is incredibly cool! :)

At 9:00 a.m., the captain got onto the p.a. system and made it official: Castaway Cay is scrubbed and, because there is no other port nearby that can accommodate us in this weather, we will be spending the day at sea as we begin to make our way back to Port Canaveral, estimated time of arrival 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning.

When he spoke to the island manager at Castaway Cay, the manager reported that they were still experienced sustained winds of 50 mph and the seas were very rough. So, let's keep the people who live on Castaway Cay in our prayers.

Brent, our cruise director, stated that they were busy making up a new Navigator to include the things that they have added for this day at sea. We should have those in our staterooms in 45 minutes or so.

We are still travelling around 12 knots in rough seas and severe winds. The captain also assured the passengers not to worry about the rough seas or the tipping and turning that the ship is doing. He said that the ship is quite capable of navigating in these kinds of seas. He is either trying to keep people assured or is responding to some people who have already panicked. I do not know for sure.

Well, I guess that is all for now. Disney Dreams is tonight's show. They will also have a matinee of it. I will be at both.

I have also received my departure information. I have luggage tags for the airline and my luggage needs to be outside my stateroom between 9:00 and 11:00 p.m. tonight. I have also received my boarding pass for my flight as well. This airport check-in perk is really nice. Once I put my luggage outside my room tonight, I do not have to worry about it as I will not see it until I am back at Chicago O'Hare tomorrow evening! That makes things really convenient!

It has been a wonderful three weeks on the cruise and I am ready to go home and get back into my work again.

Thanks, Disney!
I'm so sorry you couldn't make it to CC. I'm sure that's disappointing ... but continued prayers for safe passage and that you all get home safe and sound!

My forehead is peeling! I look like I have leporesy! :scared1: Good thing I have bangs!
:lmao: Bangs come in handy sometimes huh! :)

Catching up on emails. Got this one and I know it is totally non Disney but had to share. Oh there is even a zip line.:lmao:

http://www.oasisoftheseas.com/
Wow that is cool- who'd a thought they'd have grass and trees on a cruise ship! wow....... and ziplining across atop 9 decks! wow......

Ouch is right! There's got to be a better way! ;)

BTW just want to thank you again Arlene for making Cheryl & I "official" Raywatch girls! The t-shirt was so thoughtful! I loved it!

Also want to thank whomever put my quote about hassle free booking...zero dollars, etc. on a magnet! I was seriously touched by that!

And to everyone for ALL the FE gifts! They were all so fun to get & we really enjoyed checking every time we went back to the room to see if we had anything new. I was afraid our door was going to look a little bare since I only made a few magnets, but wow I had nothing to worry about because my door was FULL of magnets by the end of the cruise. I've got to say that not much of the candy made the trip home either. You think we'd have been to stuffed to jam candy down our throats too, but oh no we managed just fine!

Thanks again to all for making this truly a Trip of a Lifetime!!! :grouphug:
LOL!
I saw that magnet on one door and thought it must be your room. (didn't consult our deck map to make sure- just assumed it must be your room) then I started seeing them on other doors throughout the cruise that didn't have them on there before! Kept thinking it must be part of the FE exchange and I'd get one eventually- but I never did... and I thought the whole time it was YOU giving them out on doors. LOL

OK... I've not BEGUN to unpack (however, Alicia has...) ... and I don't quite recall WHERE I put that Navigator deckplan. Could you remind me of your cabin number? I am certain I shot your cabin door and I've got it somewhere among the 2400+ images here. Actually, I have most of the door shots in a seperate folder... but they're all unprocessed.. but in sequence by deck.

And as for the cold thing... I thik the flight home INTENSIFIED my cough and throat discomfort. Or maybe it brought on a secondary infection. Either way... I'm re-recovering from it all. TOwards the end of our voyage I was getting better... then upon flying home got worse... then with some good rest I'm getting better again... but better QUICK enough for my taste. I was holding off seeing a doc - but now I'm rethinking it. It has been sooo long I've had this darn thing that I don't want it to progress into a walking pneumonia. I've heard of things like this triggering more serious illness with the weakened immune system and all. Of course, what do I know? I'm no doctor?

Anyways .... I have work and chores to tend to .... TTFN! I await your cabin number.... or you'll have to wait until I sort and process the cabin door shots fully. I have a lot of backlogged photo processing and DVD making to tend to. First on that to do list is the DVD for the BROWNIES end of year.
No rush... just when you get to it. But our rooms were 6130 and 6131. Thanks!

I'll jump on the band wagon for that... We were expecting to have Mike take a cab and pick us up after.

New uses for a FE - Since Mike has been unpacking, he hung ours in the hallway by the bedrooms and I've been randomly leaving stuff in it when Lexi's good. Makes me think of you all every time I do it.
What a great idea! hehe

I saw that quote and was determined to make magnets. Had to have DS help me. He did the color and all. Still computer challenged. Glad you enjoyed them. (I think I ruined the blades on the paper cutter at work cutting them all) ;)

The crud was better this am but now I feel like a nap is in order. When will it just go away??????

I was going to ask if anyone was up for chat tonight, but looks like we've already lost the original Pirate Zone.

That was such a FUN game!!!!! :thumbsup2 When we got the last card and note I was so excited that I *knew* immediately who the *sign* was!!! I told dh *That's Joel!*
We had a horrible hand BUT, I had to turn ours in so that you would know how much fun we had!!!
Thank you!!!!
It's so neat reading posts after meeting so many of you in person. I can "hear" your voices.

Went to the grocery store yesterday, and stocked up on soups and "quick meals". I just can't bear the thought of having to cook just yet.

You are my kind of woman!!! :thumbsup2 We had a quick meal of burritos tonight!
When we got home last night dh ordered Pizza.

Okay who is this family?
This darling girl was PRECIOUS at the Club's talent show and I had no idea it was a daughter of a DIS'er???????

You have probably been told by now... But, that is Lexi -- she was Claire's *back up dancer* for the talent show! :rotfl2:
Saraangels dd.

Well, it's official...
as of 12:01AM we are on strike
I'm really sad and scared.

I was going to ask if anyone was up for chat tonight, but looks like we've already lost the original Pirate Zone.

:sad1: :sad1: Already? I knew it wasn't permanent, but I thought it would be around for a couple of months... Is there anywhere else we can go chat? I can't be on all night, but I would love a chance to say "hi" to everyone.

Pamela

I'm so sorry I missed it

We missed U too...

He was so cute when he called...."This is Pamela's husband...."

Me too... Carpy chat in the dis is up from 9-10 though....

Remember when I wrote this last night?
Well I just got the email from the band director about their first game tomorrow night..... and they are loading up at 3:30 (the minute school gets out) and will be returning from this away game approximately at 11:30pm.

now I ask you- when is this child supposed to do homework? )

All I can say is.......Welcome to high school band!! LOL
My son was a drummer all 4 years of high school and loved every minute of it! He had an amazing time in marching band, drum line, concert & jazz band. The kids figure it all out as time goes on. No matter what sport/club/activity they do...there are times when they have to leave early for games/performances and learn to balance their academics with these activities. My best advice in order to keep informed on what is going on, is to get involved in the booster club, or at least attend meetings. They really rely on the kids to pass on information on rehearsals, performances, fundraising and such.......but we all know how many kids are with this kind of info (or at least my sons were!)
Good luck!

I don't suppose anyone looked to see what sort of pillows they have on the Magic? When I got home, I noticed immediately that I liked the pillows there better than what I have at home! I didn't think to take the case off one and look :lmao: Does anyone know?

Pamela

Oh yeah . . . I already wrote it down for myself! :)

www.pacificcoast.com

Duck Feather and Duck Down pillows

This is so funny to read today, as DH and I were just discussing it at lunch today! (We had much anticipated mexican food at our favorite little restaurant.......since DCL & WDW are seriously lacking in the mexican food dept!)

Hi everybody, we have survived the first two days of school and now I can unpack and start on the laundry!

We had a very unusual cruise, nothing went according to our "plan".
I want to say thanks to all the fish extender participants, we really had fun checking it each day to see what we got. Hope everyone enjoyed the Advil and the Princess Chapstick, DH is the Plant Manager at the Wyeth plant here in Richmond.

Have a great rest of the week everyone and I hope all that sayed on for the 5day is enjoying their trip in spite of the weather.

Sue

Sorry the TOAL wasn't exactly what you wished it would be and that you guys suffered from multiples illnesses! Thats a major bummer!

We enjoyed the Advil FE, and it stayed in our beach bag the entire trip. DD loved the chaptstick!

Hi guys. Popping over from the WB thread. Glad you had a great time. Sucks being home and off the ship doesn't it?:sad2:

Quick questionn.

Did you get the Cinderella Slipper Dessert or did they try to pass of a slice of slimey fish as this dessert?

We did and hoped it would have looked as fabulous as the picture below!! No comparison!

We've had the real white chocolate slipper (filled wth strawbery mousse), our server said that it had been discontinued some while back, and the new version was now he standard :sad1:

dsc01362640x480gx8.jpg

Andy (who now has the sore throat/cough thing too)

Wish I had time to catch-up on the posts here -- maybe this weekend as I begin organizing pictures.

It was great meeting so many of you on the TOAL, but I know we didn't meet everyone. We had a great time but are glad to be home after three weeks of vacation.

Hope everyone on the 5 day is safe! This was our first cruise where one of us got seasick. I can't imagine what it'd be like on the outskirts of Hanna.

One question-- did anyone buy a T-Shirt at Los Veranos Zipline? We did and the first time we washed it, the lettering mostly came off. We plan to take a picture and send it to them, but I'm not counting on having any luck with a replacement.
Try emailing Aby at LV....she was always very helpful and fast with replies!
info@canopytours-vallarta.com
bummer about the shirt!

Well, it's official...
as of 12:01AM we are on strike
I'm really sad and scared.
so sorry to hear! Good thoughts & prayers that it is resolved quickly and correctly for you!

:sad1: :sad1: Already? I knew it wasn't permanent, but I thought it would be around for a couple of months... Is there anywhere else we can go chat? I can't be on all night, but I would love a chance to say "hi" to everyone.

Pamela

DIS chat is open right now

well I decided to step away from unpacking for a few hours and spent the last few checking emails and trying to catch up on the dis...while having major "ahhhhhhhh" moments viewing some of our pictures!

I had no idea so many people got the crud while on board. 13 of our 16 were hit with various respiratory and sore throat issues. My nieces son had to visit the clinic with a nasty croup attack. Then had to go back for a few breathing treatments. Everybody started out with a sore throat, then coughs & sinus/congestion issues! I popped Coldeeze like candy off and on when I even thought I felt anything and became a bit overzealous with the wipes in our room as well as constant hand sanitizer...but was one of the few who didn't get it. It hit our group around day 4 and just slowly took a few people at a time each day.

Here is a picture of just some of our luggage.....for about 1/2 of our group!

A big thank you to all the FE's participants! What fun we had with both receiving daily treats as well as sneaking the hallways gifting them too! Here is a picture about 3/4 the way thru the cruise:
P8270046.jpg

This does not show some of the candy we already ate, bookmarks we were currently using, tattoo's we had already used up and many others that had already made it to a specific special location in our cabin or one of our kids bags! So many very fun and creative idea's! Thank you again!!

Here are a few pictures from Aruba! It seems my DS24 Jordan, decided to propose to DGF Jill on the first night of the cruise...under the full moon and starry skys. This was a very exciting start of our cruise! He had asked her parents before we left....so her whole family knew but we all had no idea!!They asked us to take pictures of them in Aruba during the sunset, to use for their engagement photo........123 photo's later. Here are just a few, so far:

OMG, so glad to hear this.
DS started marching band practice the first day of school. 3-5 on Tues and Thurs, 6-9 on Wed, game on Friday night and competitions on Saturday. He was so overwhelmed he wanted to quit:sad2:

It was hard enough when he had band camp in August (7-12 and 6-9 Mon-Fri-8 hours a day:headache: ), but to put in the hours now after having 2 weeks of TOAL was really hard on him.

Thanks so much to whoever posted the Jolly Pirate swing pics of him on the web site (I think it was Tom:confused3:hug: ). It made him smile and he really needed that right now:thumbsup2

We're all kinda overwhelmed with school and work right now:rolleyes:

Question for those that turned in your passports. Did they get stamped from all the ports? I never bothered to turn ours in, but now DS is mad that I didn't try.

Question for those that turned in your passports. Did they get stamped from all the ports? I never bothered to turn ours in, but now DS is mad that I didn't try.

I was talking to folks in line as we waited to leave the ship that said they did NOT get all the stamps - actually only 1 or 2 ports.

How is Trevoy doing? Did he start school and did they find his records?

Question for those that turned in your passports. Did they get stamped from all the ports? I never bothered to turn ours in, but now DS is mad that I didn't try.

We handed ours in on the first night. We got a call two sea days before Castaway Cay telling us we had gotten no stamps as the agents did not want to deal with stamps and that the agent working at Castaway Cay does not stamp. So we should pick up our passports at our convenience. We went once it was too late and they were locked in the safe. We got them back the second time we tried at Guest services.

They told us ahead of time that they might not get stamped. We tried but got no stamps. I do not like my naked passport. My other one would have expired in November, but I renewed it before this trip. As it expired less then three months before our trip was over.

So you can tell your DS that he would not have gotten stamps anyways.
