I'm freeeeeeeee!   Outta work til Sept 3rd. Leaving tomorrow morning and still have packing to do!

Hope everyone has a safe journey and see you onboard!
Have a safe trip Tina and family - can't wait to meet you all. Leaving Friday evening...yah seems it's dragging.. :)

Your friends,

With all of this talk about people dying -- I'm really NOT trying to make light of anyone dying -- I was telling dh about LaTanya's father dying and that she had to cancel her ressie.

He turned to me and said *Why*

me *Her father died and the funeral is on Sunday.*

dh *So. Is being there going to bring him back?*

me *No....*

dh *The only way I'm cancelling is if I'm dead.*

me*If your father or mother died you would still leave - before the funeral?*

dh *Yep. Neither one of them like funerals anyway. The only person that would be angry at me is my brother. So, who cares.*

I'm pretty sure he would still go if I DIED! :scared:

Firstly my condolences to those who have lost family recently.

Robert, Mum and I actually discussed this the other night, we decided if one of us should pass away unexpectedly near the trip starting, the others are to continue on and go and have the time of their lives.

I know if I passed away today, I'd still want them to go ahead and enjoy it.

Though we may have a fairly unusual outlook on death - both my parents have donated their entire bodies to science - they refuse to pay for a funeral.

Question:

With medicines for travel can you still have it in the package do you have to take the whole box. Such as pepto bizmo chewables. I don't want to take the whole box. Trying to have space in my suitcase. I have rearranged my suitcase already 3-4 times cause I am trying to save space for stuff that we get lol. Cause I can just do laundry in the middle of the night lol.

We're not taking the boxes (they're all obviously marked!). I'm not even taking the ginormous container for my vitamins. And we're also putting Ibuprofin and simply sleep and tylenol in the same container... Come to think of it, not all of my prescriptions are marked with my prescription either. Why do they label the box instead of the inside container!?!

Uhm don't you mean 181? Either way, looks like there will be another pirate: run tonight!

I understand the light side of it. Sometimes laughter is the best thing. I can't help but think how it really would put a damper on things. I lost my MIL while we were on the Magic in AUG 06. They could have gotten a hold of us on the ship but left a message on our cell phones instead. When we woke up in port we turned our phones on and got the news. It was not a pretty sight walking off the ship with tears running down our faces. Not the normal sad tears to leave, more I was hysterical. We NEVER turn our phones on anymore till will clear the port. I debated on booking this cruise because we will be on the same ship at the same time, this year will be the 2nd anniversary and it's still hard. Sorry to ramble, felt like sharing my story.

I lost a good friend once while on one of my earlier cruises. But that was before they had Internet onboard (or at least before I used it), and I didn't bother with a cel phone, so I didn't find out until I got home and checked my answering machine. Not the best homecoming. Still, the delay was such that the bad news wasn't associated with getting off the ship - so that was good.

Now of course my phones will be forwarded to a voice mail that I can access via Internet on the ship.

Lucky people in CA. I didn't do costumes because there was no way I would be able to find room in suitcases. I don't know how other people are able to do it.

Cheap store bought costumes - don't take up much space at all.

My uncle passed away before my very first WDW trip where I was going to meet all of DH's family for the first time... We visited my aunt and family the weekend before and went on the trip as planned. She encouraged us to do so, but at least we did get to be with them that weekend.

Just checking in while I'm at work... I am working late tonight though so don't feel guilty in the slightest. :rotfl:

Have a bunch of chores to do this evening and will be working tomorrow morning too but at least we can say "we are going tomorrow"!

Safe travels to everyone and I'm so looking forward to meeting you all! :grouphug:

See you on Sunday!

My DH is so Awesome. We are seeing my best friend and staying at her house from Friday to Sunday and I haven't seen her in along time and when we go to the ship he got a limo to take us there and they get to be there for the ride and then the limo will take them home. So, that I can spend more time with her. Plus her car can't fit everyone plus our luggage to the ship. I am so excited about this and I can't wait to see her, it's been so long. I just wish that they all could come too on cruise. You would all love her. But I LOVE my DH because he is the sweetest man I have ever met.
I just want to tell everyone how special he means to me that he helps me every way to see my best friend.

Last time I got to see her was only two hours because at the time she live in New York and we were meeting for awhile to go hang out and see her. Then we got stuck in the "black out" when that happened. i was never able to see her and we were headed home to Oregon and he rented a car just so that I could see her for 2 hours and then he amazes me this too. I just want him to know how important he is to me. He knows how much she is to me because her and I have been through so much through out our lives that he tries so hard to let me see her.
Thank you Russell and I love you so very much and thank you for doing so much for me..

Thank you for everyone listening...

Aw that was sweet.:goodvibes

Yikes. Today was one of those days that just test patience.

I took the courtesy van from the hotel to Chicago O'Hare. That was the only normal part of the day.

While waiting at the airport, there was a child from hell screaming and having the tantrum of all tantrums. Parents were not doing a whole lot about it. Passengers were looking at one another and closing their eyes and you could just hear their silent prayers -- "Please, dear God, don't let them be on my plane!"

Well, we boarded our plane on time (and no, the child was not on our plane!) but were delayed because there was a "situation" with one of the lavatories. It will be remedied as soon as possible and we can then leave.

The "situation?" When the cleaning crews did the plane, they missed a bathroom and we had to wait until them came back and cleaned and stocked it.

So we took off about a half hour late. For Chicago, that's like being on time anyway.

Generally, you can make that kind of delay up in the air. However, LA slowed us down in flight because they were bogged down. We landed a half hour late and then spent a little time on the tarmac because even though our gate was ready for us, a jet was in the middle of the lot, blocking our entry.

Okay. Not bad. I can live with that.

Then I went downstairs to the baggage claim. Arrived there at 12:15 p.m.

At 1:05 p.m., the last of the bags was dispensed and there was one passenger still waiting at the baggage area. Did you guess yet? Right. Me!

So I went to the baggage claim office to find out what had happened. There I was, thinking that I would have no clothes for the next three weeks.

As it turns out, my bag was in the claims office because it had arrived on an earlier flight! I waited and watched all that luggage go around the carousel for 45 minutes and I could have had my baggage as soon as I had arrived. Aaauugggghhhh! :scared1:

Securing my bag, I went outside for the "Super Shuttle" which I had pre-paid for a ride from the airport to Disney's Grand Californian.

There was a van coming and when the attendant outside asked me if I already had a seat paid for, I said "yes" and he put me on the van.

Well, yes does not always mean yes. :confused3

When I arrived at the Grand Californian, the driver tried to make me pay $16 for the fare. I told him that I had pre-paid and he told me that the person at the airport was supposed to verify my payment and issue me a voucher. So, while other people in the van were sitting there barely acting patient, the driver has to call his office to verify my payment status, write up a ticket voucher, and have me sign it for my fare. <sigh> :sad2:

Okay. Not too bad. At least it's 2:00 p.m. and I'm finally here! (By the way, that's 4:00 p.m. Chicago time. As you can imagine, I'm already getting tired!)

I'm finally "here" but cannot get in because my room is not ready. The clerk at the desk looked for a different room to place me in but none of them were available for the length of stay that I had booked so I had to wait.

Rooms are "guaranteed" to be ready between 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.

For this buckaroo, that meant the outside possible time. A couple of minutes before, they finally give me my room number so that I can go upstairs.

They -DID- find the box that I shipped last week and brought that to my room along with two bottles of wine that were dropped off by a neighboring parish for Mass on board.

So now it's almost 5:30 p.m. (7:30 p.m. Chicago time) and I've pretty much had it for the day. I'm in my room chilling.

Room faces Downtown Disney. Hagen-Daaz is right outside my balcony. Away from me, Satan! :rotfl2:

That's about it for my story today. I'm hoping to wake up tomorrow feeling better and more refreshed. Now, it's time for a little television, a quick read in a book, and an early shut eye.

Thanks for sharing your story. Now are you going to check your calls through internet? I bought a costume for pirate night for Aug. 06 cruise. It wasn't cheap and can't justify getting another costume, since I have one already. Just don't have the room. The funny thing is I bet you...............more people will be dressed up for this cruise then the one in 06. Here is pic. of costume I have.

Mike, thank God for people like you and for your patience throughout what sounds like a most trying journey. Hopefully, the rest of your vacation can only get better. Thank you for posting this story. It's always good to see others have a sense of humor when it comes to adversity.

Hope to meet you on the ship.
