8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #14

We made it to California. 2 flights - one quick layover in Atlanta and it "only" took 10 hours from the time that we left New Jersey until we entered my brother's house in Newport. Now time to plan what to do in California over the next few days.

The best news was since our layover was less than 1 hour in Atlanta, our luggage must have been some of the last put on the plan. This caused our four cases to be some of the first that arrived at LAX. My sister in law didn't understand why we had 4 bags weighing almost 200 pounds (total.) She doesn't know the adventures that await us over the next 3 weeks.

For those who haven't left yet, I'd like to wish all of you a Bon Voyage and here's wishing you the best cruise ever on your TOAL!!!

Well, I just checked in to the airport hotel -- La Quinta Inn, Elk Grove Village, IL.

Will catch the 6:00 a.m. shuttle tomorrow morning and take off at 9:00 a.m. for sunny California. Check in to Grand Californian tomorrow afternoon and anticipate the cruise!

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Andy so sorry we will be traveling without you. Send love to the family and take lots of screen shots for us.

As some of you are leaving home and heading to LA, I thought that I'd take this last opportunity to wish you all a fantastic time aboard the Magic on your wonderful cruise.

If events hadn't changed we would have been flying from London Heathrow to LA tomorrow and looking forward to meeting everyone on Sunday (or knowing the disers, before!).

To the people we have met previously - Steph and family, Cheryl and John, Peter, Johanna and family, Jack and family, and others we met last August in WDW we will hopefully see some of you when you disembark on Sunday 1st of September - we plan on getting to the port around 8:00am.
To others (especially Andrew, who only lives about 160 miles away), if possible, say "Hello" to me and my family at the port as well.

My son Alex, phoned Jack's daughter and Steph's daughter this evening to wish them a great sailing but there was no answer from either - he's hoping to see them at Port Canaveral.

Have a great time and a safe voyage and remember to look after the Magic as some of us have to go on after you for the 5 Night sailing.

... I might be getting another camcorder for the cruise. I got a call from my BIL on maui - he's sailing with us - and he was aking all these Qs on this camcorder from Costco... so I kept telling him about my simplistic and inexpensive approach... with the clearnace camera - 3rd party batteries and ebay discs... then we hung up....

... the next day (yesterday) I was at Costco and saw the camcorders I thought he was talking about .... and started thinking.... GEEE.... these are a little bit more but they're High Def... and it seems the cost of storage is LOWER and the cost is less than i thought he mentioned. In truth... on reviewing this last nite with him - the models in Maui are like $1000 while I found a comparable model is only $599 after in store rebate of $200! So I am possibly on the cusp of enbaying my DVC-108 with the 40 discs, 2 batteries and charger!

The wireless access at the DLH (Magic tower) is working like a charm . . .

Laura picked us up in Huntington Beach this morning, and even had lunch with us at In-And-Out Burger before dropping us off here! If I get a chance, I will load my pictures and post one of Laura and my girls in front of her fabulous wheels . . .

We got to CA at 12:15 and were able to ride California Screamin twice and Toy Story Mania twice before heading back here around 3 to get our room . . . I don't find the crowds to be that bad.

We have the Fantasmic Dessert seating tonight, so after we swim for a bit we will head to that park . . .

I am even jealous of the In-And-out Burger. I have never had one.

Hello Everyone,,, a few hrs until we leave for California.. Congrats to those who have arrived safely...

We have 14 bags amoung 5 of us so i dont feel bad at all.. some are only 27 lbs though..

We are so excited about our first trip to DISNEY LAND.. doubt we will sleep at all today..

What is the one thing you packed (or expect to pack) that you are pretty sure you probably won't use even though you HAD to pack it?

Well............I just finished packing today......we got it all done! I would have to say the thing I HAD to pack that we will probably not use is the binoculars! DH insists we bring them but I bet we never get them out at all

Well........kids are showered and ready for bed, I am all done with everything! We are getting up at 4:00am to be at airport by 5am. See everyone tomorrow afternoon!

Well I hate to bring it up because I know you've got enough pressure on you already. But, we agreed to get married as soon as you won your first case. Meanwhile, TEN YEARS LATER, my niece, the daughter of my sister is getting married. My biological clock is [taps her foot] TICKING LIKE THIS and the way this case is going, I ain't never getting married.

I'm not surprised with the reaction to "boredom"....

I have similar moments....

HOWEVER, as for the HD digicam... I only need to figure out if I can do everything I wanna do .... like how to pull them off the Sd card/computer to burn to a DVD. I know it can be done - I just don't know quite how? So once I get everything sorted I'll probably make the switch!

Hey Guys!

Just got back from running errands. Made arrangements to take the furr kids to pet hotel on Saturday and consequently went and bought tons of bribes for them so they won't be made at me. Those dogs are definitely worse than the human kids. Speaking of which, the girls (human) get in on Friday, I have to start packing (I'm about mentally done then I can attack the physical) and I'm here sitting on my behind waiting. Can't tell you for what but I'm tired!

Must be getting old.

I got a call from the company I interviewed with. They are in the final selection process and asked that I provide them 3 references. I've sent those off so we'll see what happens.
