So, do you like your short hair???
:grouphug: for DH

I love it short -- I was just getting way too hot with all that hair! And it wasn't that long -- a few inches past my shoulders. I usually let it grow to the middle of my back before I wack it off...every other year or so.

Cool.
The book I read describes it as pretty anti-climactic. They were using the finished parts of the canal to transport the people, supplies, dredges, etc. while they were still building the rest of the canal. A ship came in from the Atlantic side to the lake (wasn't the first ship to make that 1/2 transit), hung out in the lake for a few days, then went through to the Pacific side (wasn't the first ship to make that 1/2 transit). The ship got through to the other side and they were sorta like :confused3 "Well, I guess that was the first one..."

It's probably something that other people find more interesting then they did (?)

So I'm curious... I've seen a lot of people talk about bringing coolers onboard, but the travel docs say "No personal coolers except for medical supplies"?

They look the other way if it's a "Soft Side" cooler. No Ice!! Has to fit thru the scanner.

Thank y'all! I'm hoping today is a better day for him! Bip, I'm sorry that you deal with back problems, also.

The epidural shots don't work for missing discs. He is actually totally missing several discs in his neck and back.:sad1:
He had those done (about 9 yrs ago) for the couple of torn/bulging discs he had (they caused him not to be able to walk without leaning against a wall and pulling himself) and the shots made a tremendous difference! :yay:
Aw thanks hon.
That's what I have now- bulging discs. My back doesn't hurt all the time but if I overextend myself physically (or like even bend over lot like to weed in the landscaping or trim the hedges flat around the top/sides) then I get the back pain for anywhere from days to weeks. I don't remember the guys name that hit me but I realy dislike that man. LOL I never had back pain at all before that. sigh....

That was the Tiki Mickey set from 2004 I believe.
Oh thanks! I didn't think the Lula name was right..

The docs say that. The sign on the wall at security says that. The security personel will ask you if there is ice in the softsided cooler before they put it through the scanner and comment that someone must be planning to have a good time as it goes through revealing your loot. :thumbsup2
are we sure it's the same at this port though? are we sure because WB repo had no troubles?

If it will fit Claire she would love it -- I have the matching dress. ;)

I can't believe all of you keep your Disney dresses in a *cruise box*!
I wear mine ALL the time!!! I own a ton of Disney dresses/skirts and whenever I need a *lift* I wera a Disney dress! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: That goes along with people asking us (people from TX) about our horses & Oil wells! :lmao: :rotfl2:
LOL
Well you must have missed the part where I said I had to SQUEEZE into my dress and Ruby's was really too short at that point but she wore it anyway (I don't like dresses that are short- so it wasn't like revealing or anything, just shorter than I like the girls wearing normally). That's why those 2 dresses, that didn't really fit us, were put away..... I guess in hopes I'd lose the weight again and then it would fit great but alas, that did not happen. LOL

I will find it and I bet it will fit Claire. Remind me to give it to you on the ship or I might forget!
But then...... if we ever work out the trip to hawaiian falls (ahem........ LOL) then I could just bring it there. whatcha think? hehe

And LOL about Texas- but the thing is we had horses up until the last couple of years when we moved back in town and my BIL (kids uncle) works on an oil well..... there's some truth to it for us non-city folk. LOL

Okay....here she is......we weren't sure at first if we were getting a boy or a girl.....but one look at those huge headlights and we KNEW it was a girl!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

DSC_0060.jpg

I love it!....

I have found when we are in the USA, kids there are very interested in England and London, and ask a lot of questions. I presume due to the very strong links between our two countries, and our history, and of course the common language between us.

Stephen has always had good friends on each cruise, He was asked once if he know the Queen and did we had afternoon tea? His reply was seen the Queen on TV, and we have McDonald's.

We have been told we talk funny, but we say we invented it!
I hope you're a chatty bunch. I love the way the British accent sounds:thumbsup2

I was hoping to bring a case of water in a rolling cooler. That should be ok, right:confused3

Stace, love the car:thumbsup2

That will be all ... crew dismissed

Oh I got our FE magnets yesterday.
I got 2 kinds.... one didn't turn out like I thought (has white areas on both sides) and is so tiny you need to get out your reading glasses to read the text on it. LOL
the other one looks okay.... but you can kinda notice the "square" around the mickey head in the middle like the background on that is slightly pinkish or something. Livable though.
They are smaller than I thought they would be- but hey, that just means they'll fit good in the FE's and no one can say they have no room for it on their stateroom door! LOL :rotfl:
but gosh they are heavy. I'll have to split them up between suitcases!

Hey no one ever answered me about how they pack their stuff... if they like pack a suitcase per kid or mix/match clothing in each suitcase in case one is lost then it won't be the ENTIRE wardrobe for one person just gone. And if they are putting all FE gifts, door magnets, FE, etc. in one suitcase and just taking the risk all that will be gone if that suitcase gets lost? What are the real odds that would happen anyway? (lost luggage)

We usually pack one suitcase per person but because we are going for a longer time we are just taking 4 larger suitcases and splitting everything however it fits. We will also have 2 carry ons - one is laptop and one is for the FE gifts.

Does that mean it is walkable? Looking to get to a target or Walmart for various provisions, e.g shower gel, suncream etc. which it seems pointless to drag from the UK when it may not even arrive in LA!

Celestine

If not, there is a Walmart in PV across from the dock, although a cab there may be advisable

Steph, a co worker and I have disc problems. mine is controlled with exercise but hers was so very bad. Her Dr had her go thru a series of 3 epidural shots and she is so much better. Maybe he should look into it. Of course she was immobile for those days. But she swears by them and I heard of another co workers husband that did the same.

Arlene, I have had 3 series of the epidural blocks (01,02,02) 2nd series worked much better than the 1st set and the 3rd has been working since 2002. I wouldn't hesitate to get them again if that siatic (?) started bothering me again.

So you can't take ice then? What about a medical cooler? Can we take the blue packs?

I would try to contact a supervisor at DCL about that. My understanding is that the no ice is so that the coolers do not leak when going through the xray machine and damage it since they need to be placed on their side to fit through. If you have a doctor's note for a medical purpose that should be different IMO but I do not know personally.

The kid and I had a great evening. 7dd & I went to a b-day party at Putt-Putt. She LOVED riding the Go-Karts. They had a track with smaller ones for young kids and then the large track (you have to be 11 to drive your own).

When she rode with me she kept saying *Faster mom, faster.* So... I went...fast.... When we got off my friend came up to me and said *Since when did you become the faster driver on the track?* :rotfl: Turns out all of the karts were being driven and I was passing people like crazy.... :lmao:

The other 4 kids (oldest dd was here at the house all day -- she cut all of my hair off! :yay: I now have short hair!) went to my IL's house for dinner so that 28ds & Samantha (17, dd) could tell them all about their trip.

DH is feeling really bad..... He doesn't know if it is the pain in his neck and back (he has degenative (sp?) disc disease) or the lack of sleep from the extreme pain the last few days that is the problem. :sad2: So he came home from work early and went to bed. I doubt if he has slept much....
I think he needs to find a Dr and see about doing the disc replacement surgery -- I can't remember the total number but, he is missing several discs. His migraines might go away...also....

I feel really bad for any of you that have chronic pain.

Sorry your DH is in so much pain. My husband was in an accident and had several discs removed. Every day is a struggle. He hasn't experienced any migraines thankfully.
Sounds like you had a great family day.

Hey Shelley, I will never pack one person per suitcase again. On our very first Disney cruise the boys were much smaller and I could pack all their stuff except formal wear in individual rolling backpacks that each one was responsible for. We made it all the way from California to Florida with no problems. At the port we had them leave their backpacks with the porter, tagged and ready to go, so they wouldn't have to drag them around the ship for the afternoon. You guessed it, one of the backpacks never made it to our cabin. The short story is DCL was very accomodating and gave us some t-shirts, laundry soap and a few items from the Treasure Ketch. Rachel was the CD and came to our room to talk with DS who was 9 at the time. He was really upset because his Beanie Baby tiger was in the backpack along with the journal his grandmother had given him to write down all his experiences. She had some stuffed animals sent to our cabin later that day and took DS down to pick out another journal.

The backpack was eventually returned when someone in a suite was putting out their bags on the last night of the cruise and realized this red rolling backpack did not belong to them! My first reaction was "Geez, those suites must be HUGE to not notice a red rolling backpack for a whole week that isn't yours".

Michelle

Thank you! He relaxes more on the cruise -- I don't think he sleeps anywhere! LOL! Besides pain he is also a very light sleeper -- he didn't care for the Roy suite because it was too *creaky*. I didn't hear a single creak.......

Stephen is very chatty when he gets going, on all his cruises he has found a freind or two and stuck with them and the Parents have commented how well they get on.

I am gonig to try ot get a case of water pre cruise to take on, but not too bothered, may fill up at wallmart PV.

Wave as you pass through the East Bay.

Yell as you drive by SF!

Docs attempted to arrive today, but I was not home to recieve them so they left me a note. I will have to see if I can get them redirected to work or they may get sent back. :(

Tried to ketchup a little this morning before we leave. Got to page 137! That's pretty good....right? :) You're only up to 142 right now! I'll wave when we drive by. Off now to start the festivities! Have a great weekend.

Just saying hello to everyone - hope that your day goes well. Please take care and talk to you soon. Still in search for a formal for my DD6, since the other dress got cancelled yesterday. Disappointing. Also, went to Macy's, Nordstrom, Dillards, JcPenny's ect... and no formal dresses for little girls. Found one possible on ebay and pray we get it.

Take care off to company picnic for my husbands work.

Yah.

Take care,:cool1:

Yes you are aft and on the port side. On all decks x0xx is forward and port, x5xx is forward and starboard. They are then numbered all the way down the side of the ship until they run out of numbers and then it changes to x1xx on the port side and x6xx on the starboard side. The only difference to this is Deck 6 which also has rooms x6xx which are forward in a hallway in the middle of the ship.

As I said before, I believe that all the rooms aft of the aft elevators have their muster station in AP, but cannot confirm it.

I know that was true for all of us on Deck 8...can't speak for the others. We'll be in there again.
It also seemed that the drill was much shorter than in the past.:confused3
