HELP!

OK, so I've known since we booked this cruise that DS9 will turn 10 onboard (Aug. 30).

Sooo, what do I do for the kid's birthday???

Any other suggestions?

Our DD turns 10 on 8/19. We are bringing some decorations for the room, a bday tiara and the card to get signed at Guest services. I will bring a small gift or 2 to open and we were just going to give her shipboard money to buy some stuff onboard and cash for trinkets in the ports. She loved shopping in the ports during our 2005 trip. Luckily she has 15 family members cruising with us, so it will feel like a celebration...although the thought of 250 pirates singing is amazing too...LOL

Refund of port fees

I noticed this morning that I was refunded $30 by DCL last week to my Disney Visa. I contacted my TA this morning and she said just gotten an e-mail about it and that the port fees went down. It's not a lot , but it was a nice surprise. :goodvibes

Enough for a specialty drink or 2 or 3....

I checked with DCL this morning and not everyone will be seeing the refund of port fees, just ones who were charged more to begin with for taxes. It seems if you were paid in full by early May, it is likely you paid the lower amount and won't see a refund.

Well I guess it will be a nice surprise for those who do get it.

M,

DO NOT COUNT on DCL to have it written down. We had it noted in our system too, DD's 21st birthday, Our anniversary and my birthday. .

We have had it noted on our ressies too...so any thoughts on what else to do to be sure celebrations get noted and not forgotten?

I hope things turn around on your trip!! Thanks for keeping us posted.

Happy Birthday Stephanie!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone ... Just wanted to thank you all for your kind wishes. Mom is doing as well as can be expected. She is in a lot of pain, but they can't do anything until she is off the coumadin. She is also suffering from Pancratitis, which I believe is caused by the inflammation from the Gall Bladder. I felt so useless last night, as it is hard to see her in such pain and knowing that you can't do anything to help. I live an hour and a half from the hospital. I don't know if I can make it there tonight, but will definitely be on the phone to talk to her. My brother Chris is a little confused being at my place, but he is so happy-go-lucky, that as long as he has his movies, he is fine. He doesn't like hospitals at all, so he was quite happy to leave and come to my place.

I haven't really been following the boards that much. I hear there is a list of cabins for the Fish Extender Gifts. Where and when will this list be available? Are we to print it first? How many FE Gifts are we up to now? I have enough gifts for 150, so I should be fine. I can give extras to the crew. I also remember reading about an onboard DIS newsletter for our group? Again, where and when will this be available and are we expected to print it before we leave?

I just found out that my friends dental hygenist is also on this cruise. Don't know if she is on the DIS or not. Anyone out there from K-W area????? If not, I will definitely educate her on this great group of Disney nuts!

Wow, I think this is the longest post I've had on the DIS, or at least on this thread.

Good to hear she is doing well..I will keep her in my prayers...It is wonderful that you are there for your brother....you are lucky to have each other...

Why is it that I TOTALLY understand this? :rotfl:

Lesson learned? Speak up and don't accept mediocre from Disney - her words not mine! :rotfl:

Stay tuned for more drama - oh and never piss off a Leo - right Cheryl???????:rotfl2:

Bye!

Laura I really hope things get better!!!

Just warn DCL there will be lots of Leo's ready to take over the ship. Just at our table there will be Arlene, you and me!!! Heaven can only help the staff or perhaps Father Mike.;) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Glad Mom is doing better!!:flower3: Not sure why we have a Gall Bladder as three out of four from my family had ours removed!!!:headache:

When Mike does the final FE list by Decks would be the list you want to print. We are under 150 but never counted all of them!!;)

HELP!

OK, so I've known since we booked this cruise that DS9 will turn 10 onboard (Aug. 30). But now I am stressing over what to DO about it!! It is noted in our reservation, so there should be a suitable fuss at dinner for him, - 250 or so pirates singing happy birthday should be fun! But what about the rest of the day? Does DCL have birthday buttons like in the parks?

I'm not lugging presents with us. We don't do much in the way of "stuff" gift anyway - family and friends send them too much "stuff"! Since it is towards the end of the cruise, I may buy something he has his eye on.

Sooo, what do I do for the kid's birthday??? He's a heavy sleeper. Maybe I could decorate the room in the middle of the night?? Balloons pack small & would be fun in the room. Anyone up for a balloon blowing party in the wee hours of Aug. 30??? Deck 2 forward elevator area is close to our room.

How many balloons do you think it would take to fill a Cat 9???

Any other suggestions?

On Birthdays, its best to remind DCL, maybe your head server, as soon as you can, DCL have mucked up mine a few times, for example in 2005 we had a Wedding anniversary and a birthday, I told DCL the dates and when I wanted cakes and the celebration packages. It was very clear.

On embarkation we received it all, two lots of cakes two lots of clebrations even though the dates were far later in the cruise.

I spoke to guest services who said they cleaerly advised mousekeeping, of the ocrrect dates and they got it wrong, The surprise was gone but we had it repeated on the correct days.

I spoke ot the head server and they organised the resturant.

IMHO The DCL clelbration package is far too expensive, best to buy stuff before cruise or on ship in the shops, we will do this for Stephen and my Wedding anniversary

Happy Birthday Stephanie!!!!!!!!!!!

pirate: HAPPY BIRTHDAY
I am diabetic too, but I didn't intend to fill out the form. I just watch my carbs so I won't need a special diet. Do I still need to fill out the form?

Is anyone still going on the DCL Acapulco City Tour with Cliff Divers? :confused3 DH doesn't like to do anything that isn't DCL organized. He says this is probably the only time we will be in these places and he wants to make sure we see what we want to see. It is just the two of us so the cost isn't too bad. I was hoping there will be some other DISers coming along.

Monica, good luck and pixie dust. pixiedust: Hang in there, something will come your way soon.
At this moment I am still booked but its 50/50 the only reason I am sticking with it, is the early port time, and seeing the divers at a private show, if we were in later I would do it all myself, and may still cancel and walk to fort and market myself.

Sorry you've run into this poor service. I'm sure we'll all be grateful to you in a few weeks for whipping them into shape for us.

Did they have a lot of staff turnover recently that would cause this?

Also - did they share any details on the nature of their engine trouble?

Have fun today in port...

No explanation at all. Even at first at the CC reception, when somene asked what the reason was for the stop, we got? What trouble? I guess when it happened again, at 1 pm, they had to come up with something. That's why Cpt Tom wasn't "smiling" in the pictures. I just hope they fix it - its either that or he's worried about the hurricane. BTW, they postphoned the Golden Mickeys from last night to tonight. I guess the amount of power it would take to operate the show would have drained the engines even more so instead we got Michael Harrision - a day early but he was good. Another BTW, he's going to be n America's Got Talent. Yeah! He's updated a little f his routine. Its funny - more adult humor too. I even had to laugh - and this was at the family show. :teeth:

I guess everything happens for a reason

I woke up this morning feeling sick. Usually I try to push it off and go to work but we are so busy this summer that I decided to take a day and get healthy. At 10:30 th door bell rang. it was the post man with DH's passport. I am so glad I was home we would have had to go to the post office to pick it up during the very small window of hours they are open during the day.

One more thing done about 100 to go.

I just walked in on the last line of Snow Buddies - it was this:

Have faith that you are exactly where you are meant to be.

So I must have faith that I am exactly where I'm supposed to be at.

They have just announce open tendering so we are going to go off - its hot, humid and hot.

BTW, this was not my fault but DisneySweetie said it can be because all I had to do was look. :rotfl2:

So DH and I go to have breakfast, Parrot Cay closed so we head off to Pluto's playhouse. As we are eating, I look to my left and see a double parasailing couple going "down to get their feet wet." EXCEPT......they don't get their feet wet, they go completely under as well as the parachute. So I think - ok they will pull them out. No Go! Seems the engine died on the boat. So next I'm watching them trying to pull the couple out of the water, which is not the smoothiest mind you - the Magic is rolling just a bit in the water here. So next I see another small boat come. Everyone on the boat had to transfer after they ungraciously managed to pull the couple in the water onto the 2nd boat. They were in the water for about 10 minutes before the boat came. I'm just glad I wasn't on that excursion. I'm hoping its local toursits from hotels and not from a DCL excursion. Else, they may be wanting their $$ back. Oh and the original boat was being pulled via a rope! :scared1: NOW - are you sure you all want to go parasailing here in Cabo?

Oh yeah - according to guest services - zip lining in Cabo has been completely cancelled. WHy? not sure but she made it seem like the company was gone. Has this been discussed before and I'm just a day late and a dollar short again?

Oh yeah, Visions of the Sea managed to pull right next to us. I've never seen a ship pull this close to us in the ocean. I can practically see into the cabins windows. Even our stateroom host was surprised. They blocked our lovely view of Lover's beach for about 1/2 hour. Now they moved up a little bit. Hmm.......has DCL fallen out of favor??????? :rotfl2:

Stateroom host wanted to know how they ranked the better spot - so see, its not just me - its the 13th curse, ok - I'm feeling a bit better so off I go to see what I can do to cheer myself up. Maybe a trinket or two or three, its hot, humid and beautiful sunny - so I'm getting my hat on - someone point me to the nearest Sam's Club! :rotfl:

As for me looking - that I had nothing to do with! (Even if I did look down in time to see it all go down! :lmao: ) Poor couple, they got more then they bargained for.

Later all :wave2:

Concierge said that the rotation will be LAP, APL, PLA. Of course, everything is subject to change :lmao:

:rotfl:
So are they only doing two dining times? I can't even remember now what they were....6:00 and 8:00 or 6:30 and 8:30? Guess I should contact concierge and think about a rotation then!

I'm sure someone else has answered by now...but FWIW...DCL has a package where they'll do balloons, a banner and a table decoration.
They don't have buttons, but you can get him one at any party store to wear during the day, and he'll get some recognition from the crew.
From what I remember, you guys have been to the bridge, right? So I guess that wouldn't help make his day more special...but you can ask someone to do it, if you thought he'd enjoy it again.

DCL does have birthday buttons. I know you can get them from your servers. Make sure you let your stateroom host/hostess know and they may do something special on their own. Mine made a birthday cake out of towels and put streamers and balloons in the room. Any of the birthday celebration stuff you get from DCL would be set up on August 17, not on his birthday.

I thought they quit having the buttons a while back?:confused3
Sorry M....pay no attention to me.....

All I can say is I'm glad the PC is your 14th cruise.....:lmao:

They are still doing the 3 times for each seating but the rotation is the regular one where the restaurants will repeat every 3 nights. I received a call from concierge when confirming the dining time for suite guests and that is what I was told.

The only had the double up rotation on the Mexican Riviera cruises

early seating - 5:30, 5:45 and 6pm
late seating - 8, 8:15 and 8:30pm

But you know that with Disney everything is STC (subject to change) ;)

I know that I made the supervisor indignant on my behalf. Lets hope she gets somet things moved around

Lesson learned? Speak up and don't accept mediocre from Disney - her words not mine! :rotfl:

Good for you! I hope your cruise improves in so many ways!

OK Guys - lesson learned here - don't let any distractions happen while your packing.

So last night was our anniversary. I go to bed, BTW, Cpt Tom waspresent physically for the pictures, but you could have told his mind was elsewhere. On to my other problem.

I finally realized about midnight last night that I had never received my canopy adventure for the five of us. Andrew was the only one to receive tickets. Well, like a good person, I get up early to ask and :headache: of course, we've been dropped from the system. AND......when I mention to Franseco the problem, he's like, sorry can't help you. I need your confirmation code. I can't do anything in the system. And the only availability is ONE at 1:45. I'm a little more miffed at the attitude of the personal. Its not like there were 100's of people behind me. He just told me that I did not complete the information which UNFORTUNATELY is what happens to a lot of people. I told him that I've done this before but he SNIFFED , yes SNIFFED and said, I'm sorry like he didn't believe me. Ok, so this may have happened. Pooh on me for not realizing sooner but he didn't have to be so uppity about it. Now I'm on the warpath. Seems to be a lot of no's on this cruise. More newbie faces than on any other cruise I've been on. Can't wait till August to see some familiar faces - and nice one too.

Our servers must be a new pairing as they are notoriously slow. Although it seems the table behind must be related to somene because they seem to have the best service - even though its a table of 10. Guess I don't rate.

Sorry for ranting, I'm more upset at myself for not noticing till last night but I must take this as a sign that maybe we weren't meant to go zip lining.

Drats! I'm really upset but what can I do about it?

OK - rant over

Sorry about your zipline!!

Captain Tom ALWAYS looks like that when he's doing pictures. I'm not at all fond of him.

Thanks so much for clarifying for me. I'm a little slow on the uptake lately.
Now to figure out what rotation we want and contact them. SOON.
I think I had our TA tell them APL...but am not sure.

:scared1: OH MY!!!! Maybe I won't push to book the horseback riding excursion for DD in Cabo. It doesn't seem like good karma in that port.
