OK Guys - lesson learned here - don't let any distractions happen while your packing.

So last night was our anniversary. I go to bed, BTW, Cpt Tom waspresent physically for the pictures, but you could have told his mind was elsewhere. On to my other problem.

I finally realized about midnight last night that I had never received my canopy adventure for the five of us. Andrew was the only one to receive tickets. Well, like a good person, I get up early to ask and :headache: of course, we've been dropped from the system. AND......when I mention to Franseco the problem, he's like, sorry can't help you. I need your confirmation code. I can't do anything in the system. And the only availability is ONE at 1:45. I'm a little more miffed at the attitude of the personal. Its not like there were 100's of people behind me. He just told me that I did not complete the information which UNFORTUNATELY is what happens to a lot of people. I told him that I've done this before but he SNIFFED , yes SNIFFED and said, I'm sorry like he didn't believe me. Ok, so this may have happened. Pooh on me for not realizing sooner but he didn't have to be so uppity about it. Now I'm on the warpath. Seems to be a lot of no's on this cruise. More newbie faces than on any other cruise I've been on. Can't wait till August to see some familiar faces - and nice one too.

Our servers must be a new pairing as they are notoriously slow. Although it seems the table behind must be related to somene because they seem to have the best service - even though its a table of 10. Guess I don't rate.

Sorry for ranting, I'm more upset at myself for not noticing till last night but I must take this as a sign that maybe we weren't meant to go zip lining.

Drats! I'm really upset but what can I do about it?

OK - rant over

That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard DCL say. They have had three dining times in the dining rooms for a while with the LAPLAPL etc rotations. Who knows why they changed things this time. DCL didn't consider their answer to that too well. :lmao:

They had the regular rotation on the May repo and someone reported that they were told it would be the same for the EB repo. We aren't going to know until it happens on the ship. :goodvibes

I agree, we started off with PLLAP..... and Christian is our CD, haven't had any opportunity to talk with him but oh well, we'll give him heck later.

I am diabetic too, but I didn't intend to fill out the form. I just watch my carbs so I won't need a special diet. Do I still need to fill out the form?

Is anyone still going on the DCL Acapulco City Tour with Cliff Divers? :confused3 DH doesn't like to do anything that isn't DCL organized. He says this is probably the only time we will be in these places and he wants to make sure we see what we want to see. It is just the two of us so the cost isn't too bad. I was hoping there will be some other DISers coming along.

Monica, good luck and pixie dust. pixiedust: Hang in there, something will come your way soon.

We're still doing the cliff divers/city tour too!

Is there any other way but subject to change.:lmao: :lmao:

Don't forget the ever popular "we hope you found this information to be helpful" when in fact, they never really gave you any info in the first place.

Refund of port fees

I noticed this morning that I was refunded $30 by DCL last week to my Disney Visa. I contacted my TA this morning and she said just gotten an e-mail about it and that the port fees went down. It's not a lot , but it was a nice surprise. :goodvibes

:thumbsup2

My DD will be turning 4 on Sept. 1, debarkation day. Kind of a crummy day for a birthday since we'll be rushing around in the morning. We are giong to spend the day at MK so that will be fun for her.

I am planning on celebrating her birthday at dinner one night also. I'm not sure if we'll do it the last night since that seems to be somewhat hectic anyway. I have celebrated two of my other kids' birthdays on board in the past, and they did receive a birthday pin at dinner so hopefully they'll still have those.

I am also planning on getting a birthday card (with either the princesses or Mickey and Minnie) and dropping it at Guest Services to have all the characters sign it.

Kim

DD's bday is 9/4 and we are celebrating it in DL & on the ship too. DS turned 5 the day before our first cruise and he celebrated it in MK and onboard. She has always asked to do the same thing. :) I have a happy birthday banner to put up in the room one day. We picked up one of the foam crowns that are like the visors at WM and I have decorated it for her to wear at dinner or during the day on her "cruise bday". I am packing party hats and horns for dinner too. LOVE the idea of the birthday card being signed by the characters!!!! Adding that to my list. :) Thank you, Kim!

I'm a member of the Teachers Union here in OK,do you think I could get a discount on DL Tickets?

From Mousesavers:

Teacher Discounts
Members of the California Teachers Association sometimes qualify for a great price on Disneyland tickets. To check on what's available right now, either visit the benefits web site or call TSA/First Financial Credit Union at (800) 537-8491. Thanks to Diane E for the info!
MouseSavers.com reader Barbara W reports, "First Financial Credit Union may extend this discount to members of other Teachers Associations through their toll-free phone line. (The rep I spoke to had no problem with my parents' membership in a Canadian Association.) These tickets must be shipped to a residential address in the US only."

Not sure what kind of discount you can get. I haven't heard of any great teacher deals before.

I checked with DCL this morning and not everyone will be seeing the refund of port fees, just ones who were charged more to begin with for taxes. It seems if you were paid in full by early May, it is likely you paid the lower amount and won't see a refund.

Is there any other way but subject to change.:lmao: :lmao:

Of course there is!!!! Hassle free!!!! IOW, everything is subject to change BUT you won't have a say in it so you won't have to worry about the decision and therefore it will be hassle free for you. ;)

HELP!

OK, so I've known since we booked this cruise that DS9 will turn 10 onboard (Aug. 30). But now I am stressing over what to DO about it!! It is noted in our reservation, so there should be a suitable fuss at dinner for him, - 250 or so pirates singing happy birthday should be fun! But what about the rest of the day? Does DCL have birthday buttons like in the parks?

I'm not lugging presents with us. We don't do much in the way of "stuff" gift anyway - family and friends send them too much "stuff"! Since it is towards the end of the cruise, I may buy something he has his eye on.

Sooo, what do I do for the kid's birthday??? He's a heavy sleeper. Maybe I could decorate the room in the middle of the night?? Balloons pack small & would be fun in the room. Anyone up for a balloon blowing party in the wee hours of Aug. 30??? Deck 2 forward elevator area is close to our room.

How many balloons do you think it would take to fill a Cat 9???

Any other suggestions?

Maybe have his favorite breakfast delivered via room service waiting for him when he wakes up :confused3 ......OR have room service (Mom or Dad  ) run up to Topsiders to get his favorites for when he wakes up.

Seriously, I bet if you called room service beforehand and asked them to do something special for the breakfast tray, they would.

M,

DO NOT COUNT on DCL to have it written down. We had it noted in our system too, DD's 21st birthday, Our anniversary and my birthday. We get onboard the first night - which was her birthday, and even though she was wearing a sash saying point me to the bar and 21 and ready for fun AND a crown, they had to ask if we were celebrating anything special on the cruise. :headache: seems when I tried to tell him what we were celebrating, we got "Just tell me the night before." OK, I don't get this, and worse, both of us are not strong chocolate lovers so what d we get? Not a what do you like? We get Chocolate mousse. :headache: :headache: :headache:

I don't know, I seem to be spending a lot of time griping which I don't like myself doing but this cruise has definitely turned out NOT to be what I expected. Guess I've been pretty lucky and must realize that 1 out of 13 cruises is not a bad ratio. I just don't understand, maybe I'll put it off to the newbies. Better yet, - I'll just give the minimum tip. LOL - so far the only one that hasn't disappointed me too much has been our stateroom host - Jojo. Ooops, hope I didn't just jinx myself. :headache:

OK, we are delayed getting into Cabo by an hour, lets see if we are delayed leaving. All aboard time is 6:30 and Megans & Yesenia's sea and kayaking adventure was canceled for the 10 am one and moved to 12 pm. She's not sure she wants to go now. DH, April and I are just going to take it easy - this port is too Americanized for us. Sides, been there and done that too many times. Maybe, this is a sign that we are meant to just play things by ear????????

OK - we seem to be setting anchor, we seem to be stopped, can see the Pacific Side of the hotels on the tip of Baja, day looks pretty, but as soon as I can pull my but out of my behind, I'll be a better Pollyanna. I promise. I'm just having a little pity party of one right now.

 Hey, maybe I can cheer myself up with candy! ;)

Oh yeah, Julie - I have my reports typed up but haven't pasted them yet. Will do soon.

Later all - the munchkins are in full form.

Well.....

214 sq. ft. is the advertised size of the Cat 9, but this includes the bathrooms and closet, so 2/3 is roughly cabin space.

This gives 214 * 2/3 = about 143 square feet of living space?

The ceilings in the rooms are 7 feet hight, so the cubic space is about

143 x 7 = 1001 cubic feet.

If you get 9 inch balloons, you will fill a volume approximately 2/3 of a cubic foot.

Solving for "x", the number of balloons needed is

1001 = 2/3 * X

X = 1501

So you need 1500 balloons. Figure 30 or so smart add pirates would be willing to get up early to do this that means 50 balloons each.

OK, I was thinking more along the lines of a good layer on the floor. I wouldn't want to suffocate the poor kid on his birthday!

Of course, if you just had everyone come from the bar to do this, figure an additional 250 balloons for breakage. And then what do you do with the drunk and now lightheaded pirates on the floor outside your room? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Leave 'em where the lay, my friend. Leave 'em where they lay.

Yes, we are still doing the tour, but are doing the one with shopping. If there are openings, we may switch to the one without, but we are still going. We really want to see the cliff divers and we won't be going back to Acapulco.

Terri- We are sticking with the Cliff Divers w/out the extra shopping. I figure it can't be that bad. (hope that is not famous last words).

We're still doing the cliff divers/city tour too!

 :cool1: Looks like we will be in good company. pirate: We have never seen the cliff divers and I have always heard about them. Like the Panama Canal, it is something I think I need to see once in my lifetime.

Hello All! This is our 1st post, though we have been eavesdropping for years! We are going to be cruising with all of you on the great adventure. We are excited yet slightly apprehensive to jump in to all these posts. You all seem like such close friends, it's a tad intimidating. My DH is Roger and we have two DDs; Brenna 9 and Erin 6. Oh! I'm Melissa.

Thanks for all the tips in the past, oh say 8 or 9 YEARS!!!!!

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Is anyone still going on the DCL Acapulco City Tour with Cliff Divers? :.

We are. We're doing the Highlights, shopping & cliff divers one.

Not setting my expectations too high after what I've read. But, we're still going to experience the Port. Who knows, if we'll be back at that Port again.

Those that fall behind (or on their behind) get left behind. pirate:

Happy Birthday Stephanie!!!

UGH - can't get my pitcure to post...and it was a good one!!!
