Well, it was the weekend without utilities...
Saturday DH installed a new hot water heater (preparing to put the house on the market), so no water. Sunday morning about 10 am (just as we were finishing up enjoy all that nice hot water, and thinking about laundry) we hear a BANG!, flicker, catch, flicker, and the power goes out. The UPS worked great as I continued to surf for about 10 minutes before figuing out that I probably ought to shut down the computers.
Mini-pickup versus Power pole about 2 blocks from here. The Power pole was sheared off at the base, but the pick up lost. Our neighbor saw it and said it wasn't pretty. Turns out 100,000 homes were without power for 2 hours, and 157 for 12. One guess which we were!
Closed up the house, taped shut the fridge, and hunkered down for the duration. 12 hours later we got our power back. Fortunately, it wasn't as hot as Saturday - the house only got up to 80 (we have large / old shade trees surrounding the house). The boys cooled off the old fashioned way - sprinkler in the back year. And we had to go out for dinner. (Oh Darn!)
And, of course, everything I had planned for the day required power! Got our FE gifts sorted and bagged - that didn't require power. But, we had lots of very hot water!
LOL.....you should see our dive logs (we're soft core divers), unless the water is 90F and viz 100' we call it a bad dive
LOL Andy you guys sound like us ....we will actually be in Cozumel this time next week and diving for a week ...
Congratulations on passinghis scuba exam! My husband and son are long time Divers. My son is in the Air Force now, so my husband is "converting" my daughter into becoming a Diver (in her spare time

).
...
She promised to study the Dive Book on the airplane Flight up to Philadelphia this morning. (She is on her way to gymnastics camp with two of her teammates).
You guys are really making me want to dive on this trip. I have not dove for a few years. I am not sure where my log book or c-card is. I have no dive buddy, but I am thinking I may want to find them and perhaps take a refresher dive, in order to dive this trip.

You sound like my kind of divers! I'm
definitely a warm water diver. In fact, DS11's cert dives were the first time I've donned a wetsuit.
Uh. Have I invited you guys to join us (Sarangel) for a private dive/snorkle charter in Aruba? There's still space for a few more. They won't be deep dives as DS11 isn't allowed below 40-45 feet. And we'll have a few snorklers with us. You don't have to bring your own buddy - we can find you one!
I wear Keen's like these, and have them double as my excursion/water/beach shoe. Even with my bad feet, they are really comfortable and supportive.
I had Teva's, then
Crocs, now Keens. I'm never going back. Awesome shoe. Mine are solid black, and I wear them even for dressy stuff. Very formal looking. And since this is California - no one thinks it strange.
All this talk of Cheese Curds is making me crave Poutine ... A French Canadian masterpiece of French Fries, Cheese curds and gravy. Sounds gross, but delicious!!!
Hum. I love french fries with gravy (didn't know is was a Canadian thing until someone asked if I was Canadian), I also love cheese curds. Never thought to put them together though.
Happy Birthday George!!!
George says ... "Thanks!" It's the most rememberence he's had today. He wouldn't even let us sing Happy Birthday at dinner!
