Me again, and totally off-topic. But....I actually cooked dinner last night....and I just want to tell you all how spoiled we are going to be.
But anyway....potatoes boiled over, and left spots on the stove.
As I was getting ready to clean it....this is what I saw....no touch-ups...no kidding:

AWESOME!!! That is great fortune for you and hopefully the rest of us too!

No, the instructor did not even know that she was at the recital until she saw nine girls on the stage for the first number since she was in front of the stage on the floor to direct the younger girls. Her assistant told me that she had no idea that she was going to be there until just before the show started when she walked backstage in costume (which she picked up right before the pictures were taken a couple weeks ago.) She did not know the dance at all, which was obvious since she spent the entire time looking over at my DD trying to copy what she was doing. She saw the completed dance for the first time on stage in costume.
How sad for the child.
I love it! Very piratey and original! Great work!

We worked on our FE tonight, again, keeping in mind I am a numbers lady and not crafty!

We have our "pockets" as my DD3 calls them done! I love them! It is really fun for me to do. DD14, DD10 and DD3 and I did lots of iron ons etc. So, now I just need to figure out how to attach the "pockets" to the fabric...CALLING ALL CRAFTY PEOPLE...

Can I use a hot glue gun to attach fabric to other fabric? I haven't seen my sewing machine in about 5 years, so the hot glue would be preferrable, but I could ask my mom to sew it for me.

That is the only thing I have left to do. Wait, I suppose I need to figure out how to hang it from the fish too. UGH, well, I have 7 weeks left, I will get it done. Thanks in advance for any advice you guys may have for me!

Nicole

Liquid stitch would probably be better. They say you can wash it over and over and the fabric will still be attached.I bought it at Joannes

Well, it was the weekend without utilities...

Saturday DH installed a new hot water heater (preparing to put the house on the market), so no water. Sunday morning about 10 am (just as we were finishing up enjoy all that nice hot water, and thinking about laundry) we hear a BANG!, flicker, catch, flicker, and the power goes out. The UPS worked great as I continued to surf for about 10 minutes before figuing out that I probably ought to shut down the computers. :headache:

Mini-pickup versus Power pole about 2 blocks from here. The Power pole was sheared off at the base, but the pick up lost. Our neighbor saw it and said it wasn't pretty. Turns out 100,000 homes were without power for 2 hours, and 157 for 12. One guess which we were!

Closed up the house, taped shut the fridge, and hunkered down for the duration. 12 hours later we got our power back. Fortunately, it wasn't as hot as Saturday - the house only got up to 80 (we have large / old shade trees surrounding the house). The boys cooled off the old fashioned way - sprinkler in the back year. And we had to go out for dinner. (Oh Darn!)

And, of course, everything I had planned for the day required power! Got our FE gifts sorted and bagged - that didn't require power. But, we had lots of very hot water! :goodvibes

LOL.....you should see our dive logs (we're soft core divers), unless the water is 90F and viz 100' we call it a bad dive ::yes::

LOL Andy you guys sound like us ....we will actually be in Cozumel this time next week and diving for a week ...

Congratulations on passinghis scuba exam! My husband and son are long time Divers. My son is in the Air Force now, so my husband is "converting" my daughter into becoming a Diver (in her spare time :rotfl2: ).
...
She promised to study the Dive Book on the airplane Flight up to Philadelphia this morning. (She is on her way to gymnastics camp with two of her teammates).

You guys are really making me want to dive on this trip. I have not dove for a few years. I am not sure where my log book or c-card is. I have no dive buddy, but I am thinking I may want to find them and perhaps take a refresher dive, in order to dive this trip.

:rotfl2: You sound like my kind of divers! I'm definitely a warm water diver. In fact, DS11's cert dives were the first time I've donned a wetsuit.

Uh. Have I invited you guys to join us (Sarangel) for a private dive/snorkle charter in Aruba? There's still space for a few more. They won't be deep dives as DS11 isn't allowed below 40-45 feet. And we'll have a few snorklers with us. You don't have to bring your own buddy - we can find you one!

I wear Keen's like these, and have them double as my excursion/water/beach shoe. Even with my bad feet, they are really comfortable and supportive.

I had Teva's, then Crocs, now Keens. I'm never going back. Awesome shoe. Mine are solid black, and I wear them even for dressy stuff. Very formal looking. And since this is California - no one thinks it strange. :rotfl:

All this talk of Cheese Curds is making me crave Poutine ... A French Canadian masterpiece of French Fries, Cheese curds and gravy. Sounds gross, but delicious!!!

Hum. I love french fries with gravy (didn't know is was a Canadian thing until someone asked if I was Canadian), I also love cheese curds. Never thought to put them together though.

Happy Birthday George!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

GEORGE

George says ... "Thanks!" It's the most rememberence he's had today. He wouldn't even let us sing Happy Birthday at dinner! :rotfl2:

Just a word....note that all i did from this pic is turn about a quarter-inch to the back and run a straight stich. I cut the pockets (about 6 3/4") and simply wrapped extra over the sides (any extra width) and on the "length" I did a straight stitch and did NO folding edges, no special seams or anything......OK OK...perhaps my FE will be the first to "DIE" from gifties in an FE that can't take it, but DA** IT: I MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cutie: :cutie: :cutie: he he he!

You might think about Wonder Under or something similar as well. Basically fabric fusing. Iron one side on, peel off the backing, iron on the other side. You can get it at Joannes.

I used it with our FE to stiffen the pockets and back as I was using a very flimsy material that needed additonal support. worked great!

I used a regular tacky glue for the pockets on mine - but then, it was designed for a single use only after being cut out of an old white T-Shirt - so I don't expect to wash it (and I expect it to win the contest for ugliest fish extender).

It's annoying - I can't finish it or the door magnet until we get room assignments (as I want to put the room number on both)....:cool2:

There is a product at WM called no sew...or something like that. I have sewed quite a bit but simply didn't feel like it when I wanted to alter the curtains I had bought and this worked GREAT on both shears and cotton fabric. It works like hot glue but there are no spots that show through to the front. It is like the wonder under too but comes in rolls up about an inch wide. :) Just irons on and you are done. Our curtains have been washed and pulled on and are still holding together. HTH!

I was trying the stealth approach this time but.....

Andy

Now ANDY,

You know that after all this time the WENCHES are salking along trying to sneak up on us swabbies ... this being PRIME time in 3 time zones across the USA! SO it's gonna be a hotly contested prize fer sure!

Crash it is great that the little girl you know is recovering well enough to be swimming. :) I know in the grand scheme of things this is really very small and not worth getting upset over. Though DD was thrown a little it probably wasn't evident to anyone be me and the teacher, who made a point to tell DD what a trooper she was and how well she had adjusted to the change after the show. :) She really did a great job considering she didn't want to even be on stage at the beginning of the year and she did it. :) I am proud of her for just that, in addition to making any adjustments at the last minute.

And here I present one of Salem, MASS's "Finest" in BLUE... or rather black on the right (DS of Diane)
