8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #10

Well.......Samantha (17DD) and Michael (28DS) should be in the air now....on their way to LAX for a 5 hr layover. DH told them that it is one of the worst airports in the world , especially for going from domestic to the Internationall terminal.......... Then they will be on their way to Korea.

We did NOT cry at the airport -- BUT, I so want to cry! 17dd has gone on many trips and to camp without us....... I am really going to miss her and all the help she is to me -- she is really good with 10ds & 7dd. She loves playing with them and doing stuff with them!
I know that I have to have everything ready for the cruise by the time she gets home (or really close to it) since she will get very paniced if she thinks that she has too much to do before we leave. DH & I told Michael that if she needs it to give her half of one of his valiums....... I should have taken her to the Dr this past week since she was working really hard on not having a panic attack.
She knows that she will be fine once she gets to Korea.

I expect Claire & Brian to cry tonight when it is bed time -- and *best buddy* isn't here! *Best Buddy* is what Claire has alwyas called Samantha -- we have no idea where she got that term from....

I will start replying to the rest of the *scrapbooking* emails probably tomorrow. The last few days have been spent with Samantha & getting her all ready and as calm as I could!

I did nothing. And it was good. Just got back from a few hours lounging by the pool. I only have one swimsuit to hang up and one towel to wash. I miss my monkeys, but this is nice.

I just make sure he walks a couple steps behind me! That way if he is behaving nicely I can associate with him, but if he's being weird, I can still pretend I don't know him!

You do realized that not associating with weird people is going to be difficult with this group, don't you?

Since I found out last weekend that we're going on a cruise, he told me today exactly what cruise we're on! WOOO HOOOOO!!!

Now I can "officially" find things out about the cruise and I can sign up on the Roll Call now! I'm headed off to the Pirate boards! YAY!!!!!

Can I come over? i had two days of that (during the day only ) last week and decided some time lazing about and eating bon-bons should be on everyone's TO-DO list.

Yeah, it's good for about 3 days. Then it gets old.
Whenever I decide I hate my job I remind myslef how bonkers I went in my SAHM days.

I ran one of my dogs at our National Amateur Field Championship 5 months prego with DS11. (It's a 1-hour stake handled off horseback.) All the men were like... And all the women were like... You go girl! . Our handler put me up on their most surefooted mount, who was absolutely trustworthy, and the Judge's Marshall made a point of telling DH that one of the judges was a doctor. DS11 hated trotting, but walking and cantering were fine.

With DS7 I was up on a horse judging a field trial 4 weeks after delivering him. (But, he was way easier that DS11.) Same reaction - all the men... What in earth are you doing here? (Uh. Judgin' dogs?) all the women... You go girl! I had a rotten stumble-bum for that assignment.

I had c-sections. I could barely ride in a car 4 weeks later.

I had just about every man in our neighborhood yelling at me to get down off our roof when I was hanging Christmas lights while pregnant with DS8. DH just shrugged.

Ran through the contract with DS11 at dinner last night. He was Ok with all of it until I hit the part about "If any one in your group gets in trouble, you're in trouble." That got a "But!" in protest. We worked through it. He did ask to have it printed out and posted somewhere in the room so that we souldn't forget any tenents of The Cabin Boy's Code.

Just keep colorin' it till you get enough that it's interesting looking. I've just hit "interesting" meself.

Well, I've had enough to be "interesting" since I was about 23. I've been coloring my hair its 'natual' color since I was 19. DH tried to talk me into going grey. It's not good. I lasted about 4 months and colored my hair this afternoon!

I have a silly request....Who are our Bacon Freaks? I came across something very fitting for they're fish extenders but can't remember who they were.

I know there were more people, but my DS8, Buckifan's DH and Christopher (KSDisneydad) come to mind.

I don't care who named it. I'm "Virtuous"!

You mean like the VHS tapes? I will always remember DH taking that out for the CB on our first cruise and our tablemates said "Live it's news at 11!" We got a smaller one the next year. Much easier to tote around.

Well we have had those in the past too...The last 2 were Sony digital camcorders, but I guess they have tapeless ones now too. Thats what he's thinking of I believe. Like I said...I am electronically challenged! lol

Thanks for posting this! We were disappointed that we couldn't be at the Neverland Pool at the DLR, but it really wasn't worth the extra $1,000 for the 5 nights we're at the HOJO.

Hi all. Now that we're in the home stretch of planning mode, I'm really trying to stay current with this thread. But boy is it hard. If I don't get on just to read at least a couple times a day there's no way to stay caught up.

Now that we're down to less than 6 weeks before departure I'm starting to freak out that I won't be ready to leave when it's time to lock up the house and head for the airport. So much to do... so little time to do it.

Now to reply to some of the stuff I remember reading about in the last few days...

BOOKS: I wish I could contribute some good suggestions to the reading list, but I haven't read a whole book for pleasure since before DS was born 3 1/2 years ago.

DOOR SIGNS, BADGES, BANNERS: All look great guys. Thanks for the reminder to add those things to my TO DO list.

FE GIFTS: Just put in order for ours today. Good thing turn around time for them isn't more than 2-3 weeks.

I am currently in the middle of "Food Chaining" to try to learn how to get DD18mo to eat.

We've been struggling to get DD14mo to eat, too. She just won't have anything to do with most finger/table foods.

Since I found out last weekend that we're going on a cruise, he told me today exactly what cruise we're on! WOOO HOOOOO!!!

What's "inexpensive"?

I think it's only $4 or $5 per square foot. I've had to print a lot of banners for work and that's the best price I've seen for somewhere that's nationwide. You can always place the order and have it delivered to your hotel in Anaheim if you don't want to have to pack it.

Dh just took ds and dd to grandma's house (mil). Dd will be back on Tuesday eve and ds will be back on Friday. Dd can't make it away from home very long, and she starts to miss me too much. At least that's what she says. I think the truth is she misses playing with her friends.

My mil just lives across town, and finally retired last week. This will be the first "extended" sleepover the kids have had. She is a fantastic grandma, and this was one of the things she was most looking forward to about retirement.

Good afternoon everyone! It's another wonderful day here weather wise. I think our 3rd day with no rain! Thought I was going to develop web feet there for a minute with all the rain we had.

Well I started planning today. Bought 3-day hoppers for DL. Used my Disney Rewards card. Also I went into packrat paradise and got out everything that is on dd's list for 5th grade school supplies! Sometimes is pays to be a packrat! I have an over abundance of glue sticks and crayons. Don't know what I was thinking. Everything is packed in a 2.5 gal ziplock bag. Still have to get a couple of items, but that is something we don't have to worry about.

We have also been trying on clothes, especially Katie since she is growing like a weed!

We are off to the show. Kaite wants to see Kit Kittridge and this afternoon is bargain shows till 6 pm.

DH decided he wants to get a new video camera for his bday, for the trip. He has a few in mind, I think, but thought I'd see if anybody has one that they just LOVE. He does not want another one that take the tape cassette like things (I'm obviously challenged in this area as you can see

DH bought a mini DVD recorder by Sony to take with us!!! The minis's are small and we do not need a computer to download .

OMG!!!! I remember the camera had to be braced on a shoulder!!! We got a smaller too but it took cassettes which had to be put into a VHS adapter. Now we got mini DVD without the hard drive so we don't have to carry a computer too!!

I can't believe it's so soon. Marriott sent me a reminder about my ressie. Funny thing, dd's sb coach called last week to tell us about 2 make-up games. Next Fri night and Sat morning. Told him we were going out of town and wouldn't be there! The one game I'm the snack person for so he said I could give him the stuff at this Thurs game. Plus I got a big tub of bubble gum for him!

We saw Kit Kittridge. It was very cute. DD loved it. Maybe next weekend we will have to visit the American Girl store on Mich Ave!

We are heading into Boston to see the fireworks display. We have never taken the kids, because Mike doesn't do well in crowds. We're going to head in by train & attempt it this year, but try to stay away from the most conjested areas. Rascal Flatts is playing on the Esplanade, but we won't even get near there with the masses.

On a side note, I can't hear anything but ringing in my left ear. Don't know ifit's a virus or I've punctured my ear drum or what. Guess I'll give it a couple of days & if it doesn't get better, I'll head to the dreaded doctors. Huh?

I've always wanted to go to Boston and see the Pops on the Esplanade. But I'm not a crowd person either. Would like to go to the Mall in DC, but the crowds.

Yep I thought that if we stayed far enough away from the esplanade we'd avoid most of the crowds. It was wall to wall people all the way down the Charles. You couldn't even walk half the time, never mind find a blade of grass to sit on. We did finally squeeze in after I asked politely & I thought we were being a bit rude, but as the crowds grew, more & more people squeezed in all around us. It was crazy!!!

Diane, I have ringing in my ears alot. I thought it was because someone was talking about me! LOL!

Well they must have a lot to say about me, because it hasn't stopped yet!


DD put the ends of a hard wire necklace in her ears when she was 5. Comes out of her bedroom and tells me her one ear is bleeding. Ended up at the ER and after we were on the way to Walgreens to get a prescription for ear drops, she tells me what really happened! Kids!

Oy!

We had some excitement here last night. DD and a friend were at the school park and I guess some kid on a motorized scooter plowed into the post of the basketball hoop! Fell off, hit is head and got a long deep cut on his shin. They asked if he was OK and was going to call 911 (they had their cell phones) when the kid whips his phone out and calls. The fire department and rescue squad came. The kid was OK. Two 10 yrs old girls telling me what happened was very dramatic and confusing! Oh well everything ended up being OK.

My DS has been bugging us to get him a motorized razor scooter, but it's stories like this that make me really think twice about it.

I changed my mind a dozen different times on FE Gifts (packing issues, cost, etc), finally found a great one. I found something that everyone is packing, but could always use some more , and the kid's FE Gift is something that I even like to play with

I finally decided on something that sort of represents New England, it was easy to order on-line & have shipped to my DB's house, it's inexpensive enough so that every person in each cabin should get one & with luggage space being at a premium, people won't need to take it home.

Don't let that ear ringing go to long before getting it checked out.

Unfortunately my ear is still really plugged & it's buzzing away. If it's not better by tommorow, I'll have to call I guess. Thanks!

Have fun in Boston. I'm jealous. I have only missed going in town to see them about 3 years in the last 20+ years. When I first started going the crowds were est. at about 100,000. That was 1984, I think. Now I think the crowds are up to about a bazillion .Last year I watched from the Cambridge side and didn't like it as much. Nobody wants to trek into town with me this year . I am waiting for them to do the F-16 jet fly over. They usually circle over my house at a pretty low altitude 5-6 times waiting for the perfect timing on the Esplanade flyover. It's pretty cloudy, but I hope they will still do it.

They were circling by our house last year too & we ran inside & watched them fly over the esplanade. Last year there were about 5, but this year there was only 2. It was really loud when they buzzed the crowd. Taylor got a great video of them on her phone.

I have to say, that will probably be the one & only time we head in to town for the fireworks. I told the kids I thought it would be a nice treat to see such a great fireworks show & Cade said, "Next time you want to treat us, bring us for an icecream!" I said, "But weren't those fireworks great?" And you will all appreciate this response...."Disney's are better!" Spoken like a true Disney Fan!!!

Not sure why, but that reminds me of my little brother. He was about 9 when he stuck a nerf suction cup basketball hoop to his forehead. He had a big, perfectly round hickey in the middle of his forehead for weeks!

Ha Cade did that once when he was about three by sticking a dart to his forhead. I was afraid to let him out of the house until it went away!

OK Moms. How jealous are you?? DSs have been at Camp GrammyGrampy for a week & DH left a few minutes ago to join them in southern Ohio (Salt Fork Lake) for 4 days. I'm all alone.

All the dirty dishes in the sink will be mine. The only lunch I have to pack is mine. I can watch whatever I want on TV. I can go into the bathroom or talk on the phone without 3 people calling my name. I can eat peanut butter and chocolate chips for dinner if I want. This will be nice!

Yep I'm jealous! Talk on the phone & go to the bathroom in peace??? I don't know what that is like! Lately I have to fight with 2 kids everytime I want to use the computer! We had 3, but the one upstairs doesn't work right & the lap top was too slow. Well we went out yesterday & bought Taylor a Mac laptop for her birthday. Now I only have to push Cade to get off so I can DIS in peace!

We picked up Brooke last night and to our surprise.............My neighbors put signs up all around the streets. This was waiting by our front door to see. There was a balloon hanging on it, that was taken off before pic. taken. We were up late last night and now waiting for Brooke to get ready so we can start our day.
