8/15/09-Eastern-Tortola Treasure Seekers #5

I just joined this. So I am new:confused:Hope to meet some of you in the cruise. we are a party of six, 2 teens, 2 (20's) and hubby and me. Leaving to Orlando on Wed. Aug. 12.

Hi and Welcome!:welcome:

Where are y'all from? How old are your teens? I have a 16 yo son who's a huge DCL fan.:thumbsup2

I believe Jessica e-mailed Amanda last week. If she owes Amanda a note let me know.

Janeanne

No, the ball is in Amanda's court. She started last night, but then got kicked off line and tonight we aren't home, but she will write soon. You can tell Jessica to expect an email this week

Thank you all. My two daughters 15 and 20, my niece and nephew 23 and 14. My husband and my self. All the women in this trip are disney fanatics. we used to have Disneyland annual passes for a few years. We held back in order to save for this trip :yay: We live in California :cool2:
my youngest daughter is actually worried that she will be bored, and that she is going to have to hang out only with her cousin. I hope we get to meet some of you.

"Was that all of your luggage? Is it cheaper to ship it ahead rather than check it on the plane? I always wondered how that worked."

Yes! That was all of our stuff except carry on stuff (electronics, etc)

So happy to have it all out the door.

As for cost, it works out to almost the same price.

UPS was 380. for our boxes, checking ten pieces on American would have been 200. - but then I also have to get an extra van for luggage in LA 50. and in Orlando 40.

When we ship, they take the stuff from my house and I don't see it again until my hotel room. When I check I have to hassle it all out the door, into the car, into the airport, etc.

So I guess it's a little bit more to ship but it's less hassle. They key is you have to ship EARLY, otherwise the prices get too crazy to make sense.

The BEST past is landing at the airport and walking right out! Kind of like Magical Express except my bags always beat me to the hotel.

As I look around the packing room and think of the hassle at the airport I am sooooooo envious that you have shipped your luggage ahead. I think UPS might charge a little more to ship all mine from the UK but if I were in the US and the figures were similar to yours I would happily pay the $90 extra to have it all dealt with and sorted!

Kristin - I used to cringe when my girls wanted to paint. Glad the girls had a good time at the beach. My two were telling their twin cousins about your girls.

Great - I am glad I will have others to talk to.

Ed - will be looking forward to the road blogging!!

That's funny, Janeanne! My one packing accomplishment this past weekend was having the family each prepare their pin lanyards!!! Too many pins to wear them all, so they picks some faves to display on their lanyards, plus I gave them each a few traders (DH included!). I love how even my 16yo son was studying his pins in earnest - he is insisting we bring our entire pin book, in case he want to show it off! I have agreed to indulge him on this!

Sounds like your DS and my DH need to get together

You should have seen the drama I caused at security when I brought a carryon with 40 lbs of magnets through....and three pairs of scissors. I was able to make it through with all my belongings intact after each of my bags was scanned, completely unpacked, searched thoroughly, inspected, re-scanned, and then given back to me to re-pack. It was kinda funny....only after it was over though. I had visions of hundreds of loose magnets falling out of my binders all over the security area....

I was also laughing as I read your post. :rotfl2: Maybe you should invite the housekeeper at the hotel to help!!

Janeanne

They painted for a few hours today it was nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kristin -

You would NOT believe the problems I have had ordering the water. I am on hold right now with Staples.

First, they said that I did not get free shipping...so she placed me on hold - finally came back and said I do qualify with my teacher reward.

Then, the price of the water came up different from the web site...so she place me on hold - finally came back and said that I have the right price.

Now, I am on hold again because she says that her computer says they cannot deliver to the SSR address!

I will have to let you know if I EVER get my water ordered!

When you leave, can you ship it back from the port? Is it just as easy going home? That would be cool just to breeze through the airport! It's definitely no fun to schlep luggage around. I always have my carryons. I'm afraid I haven't learned how to pack light!!!! we are driving so weight isn't an issue for me this time! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Still waiting for her to call me back!

This is a lot of work to get some water delivered to WDW!
