To all my friends who are going to do the 5K on Castaway Cay together...

Okay...I figured when I got Ed's weekly countdown on Friday it was time to really get serious about training! :rotfl: So, this morning I got up early, did pilates and then went jogging/walking (alright, I did have to actually walk a section). Here are my observations:

1. I will probably not talk to any of you while we do the 5K...it took everything I had to keep going and to just breathe!!! :rotfl2:

2. I am training in conditions that we will probably be having at Castaway Cay...it was 71° (at 7:30 AM) with 99% humidity...I really need a shower at this point!

3. I had better use the car today to see how far I went. I think I am getting close to 5K but I want to know for sure and I need to start timing myself. I do NOT want to be under prepared. :confused3

4. Do we know if there are any big hills on the 5K???? I have come to the conclusion this morning that I HATE hills! :lmao:

Hope everyone else who is training is finding success! Remember, we are under 8 weeks!!!

Alright...I am off to the shower and I have a huge list of things to get done today. I will be rewarding myself with visits to the DIS as I work to actually get all of this done in one day!!! :goodvibes

UGH...that's terrible.. inhuman :scared1:to still be in school in July !!

First no phone service...then no internet...and now school in July !!!
OK..scratch those plans to move to the UK !!

Hi all !! :wave2:

While I’ve been working  on my Fe stuff … DGH ( NOT so Grumpy Husband !!) has finished the "opening title" for our vacation DVD. ( He loves to make videotaping during our Summer trips !).

This year his videoclip is composed of four sequences

1) the first sequence is related to the first part of our travel. We have free tickets with Alitalia, the Italian airline; it has been very close to bankrupt, though recently things improved and they could reopen Malpensa airport, which was discontinued since a few months ago. This airport is very convenient to us ... but the airplanes are still in bad shape… :rotfl2: :confused3 AS YOU WILL SEE !! in the clip.

2) We will make a connection stop in New York, catching a Delta flight to reach Orlando : THAT is :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 a REAL PLANE !!!!!!

3) The third sequence takes place at the Animal Kingdom Lodge: we have (for FREE ! ) the classic dining plan, which means that in 11 days we will have 13 table services (i.e. 13 main courses and 13 desserts), 13 quick service meals (13 main courses and 13 desserts as well) and 13 snacks. You will see DGH watching my favourite animal ... while eating eating eating !!!!;):lmao:

4) Eventually on the cruise ... DGH will be able to stuff himself with any kind of food , day and night !!!

To me it's a very nice 3 minutes videoclip ... and I’d like to share it with you !!
If you please, have a look : WDW and CRUISE atmosphere granted !!!

(It's a link to a very private DGH site ... so completely safe) :thumbsup2

Ciao Laura e Marco !!
Love your video clip..I guess:rolleyes1 food is a very important part of your vacation !!:rotfl2:
I see Alitalia bought some better planes !!:lmao:
You know, Laura, when you are in NY you are only a short drive from beautiful, safe and exciting Montreal .
We have a large :grouphug:italian community with great restaurants and festivals. :dance3::cheer2:

As soon as I finish the 5K...that is exactly what I have planned...find some place relaxing to sit and find something cold to drink!!!! I just have to survive the 5K first!!!:rotfl2:

Hi Jen,

Funny you should mention the not talking thing, just last night when I was doing some Wii Active running I realised that there was no way I could run \ jog, breathe AND talk at the same time. However we can fit in a quick chat before we set off and enjoy a post run glass of water while we recover our breath!

I was chatting to my friend who I work with and who lives in the nearest town to me. She says there is a two mile long disused railway track walk where we can go and run together. I figure if we go three quarters of the way along and back again that will be one and a half miles each way totalling three miles. I think i am right in saying that three miles is 5K.

There is NO way I am going to be able to train in similar conditions - the chances of any remotely Bahamian style weather here are remote in the extreme, especially before August!

Well done for getting ni training Jen, it is going to be tiring but fun and believe me those chairs, umbrellas and drinks will be extra good after the run!

Mel -

I just drove around the block that I jogged/walked today to see how far it actually was. It is 3/4 of a mile and I went 3 times. Guess tomorrow I will have to add one more time around. :scared: Tomorrow is supposed to be hotter than today and so I will continue to add the extra heat challenge to my training!

Today while I was running, I tried to pretend that I was on Castaway Cay!!!:rotfl: I thought maybe if I could imagine the beach, a relaxing chair and a really cool drink waiting for me it would help! It did not!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

To everyone trying to conserve on packing space...

Yep...the suitcases are out and I am beginning to try to figure out how some things are going to get with us...especially the formal wear. I was looking at the two long gowns that Emily and I have to pack. At first, I thought I would roll them and put them on the side of a bag. Tried it...still took a lot of room. Then, I thought I would roll it and put a dress in a plastic shopping bag to try to "contain" it a bit. I still was not pleased. Finally, I went and got a gallon size zip lock bag and stuffed a dress in. Once the dress was in, I zipped it part way and then pushed all the air out. You should see how my beautiful, full length gown fits in a zip lock bag!!!!:woohoo: I had already planned on paying for pressing it so this is great! I am now wondering what else would shrink way down if I put it in a zip lock bag!!!! Hmmm.

You can get those vacum bags - like a zip lock one but with a valve you use your vacum to suck every last bit of air out and it makes things really small. I am led to believe that in the US they are often on offer in Target or similar - of course here in the UK they are very over priced so I will just go for the classic, sit and squash method!

PS One of our spare bedrooms has now been designated "The packing zone" everyone knows not to mess with my piles of clothing in there while I sort, list and plan the packing!

I do not know if other DCL shore trips have moved but my St Thomas Butterfly secrets and Mountain views, has moved back by 15 mins since it was booked.

9:15AM 12:15PM was 9am to 12 noon.

I see they have the St Thomas Island tour back in two slots am and pm so moved over to the 9am to 11.30am one of thoose.

Andrew - I just looked and mine changed too. I wonder why and when it changed.

I think they have put on new trips and therefore changed meeting times, ie the Island tour has two slots am and pm, to ensure they fit in both, it must go early, with limited places and staff at each meeting point on the ship they spread these out, so some of the single one off trips are put back.

That's how I packed everything to go to Iraq!!! No kidding - you can't imagine how small 9 t-shirts can become in a zip lock bag!!!!
as for the run - I GOTTA talk or I'll realize that I'm actually running. So whoever is next to me - just let me talk - no requirement for you to answer! :rotfl2:

...ummm..still no shopping done yet....no packing room designated...I don't even know where our suitcases ARE....

I am going to be putting LOTS of things in zip lock bags - we might even invest in the larger size bags to put Paul's tux in!!!! :thumbsup2 I don't care how wrinkled some things get because the formal wear has to be pressed and I can iron a few things.

You are welcome to run next to me and talk all you want! Just don't expect long answers!:rotfl: You might get short answers!!! I am hoping that if I run Monday-Friday until we go that I will not be as pathetic as I am now.

You will catch up with the shopping and packing when you get home...I still have to get the "packing room" organized so that I can get totally into it.

BTW - we were at the thrift store again today (Monday's are 25%)...got one sun dress for me, 5 pairs of shorts for Ben, 2 Hawaiian shirts for Ben and shorts for Em...all under $20 again! I love our thrift store! The shopping list for summer is getting shorter!

Have a great night!

Haha - I am happy to have you talk at me, so long as you don't mind gasps and nods for answers!

You are the thrift store queen! I am so taking advantage of the pressing service - I saw a price list somewhere and it looked really reasonable!

Off to bed now.

Mel - Our thrift store is on the edge of a pretty well-to-do suburb. This means that it is filled with name brand like new (and sometimes new with the tags on) clothes. After seeing all they have there lately it is hard to justify going to the store and paying so much more!!!

The pressing service is really reasonable! I put $30 into our cruise budget for us and that will get us an incredible amount of clothes pressed! To find the prices, look on the sticky thread on the main cruise page. I might post it on our web site as well.

Good night Mel! Chat tomorrow!

Today,, was the girl's last day of school. We had a beach party at the house today, in the rain. The girls all had soo much FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,, Jen and everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Evening Kristen! How is everything going? Are the girls finally on summer break?

I have been doing some trip planning this week so it has been kind of fun! :thumbsup2

Hope everything is going good on the east coast and your plans are coming along! Saw that you were trying to finish up with TA plans...that is so cool!

I am actually heading to bed in a few minutes. I got very little sleep last night (too hot & humid) and then with the exercising I did today...I am exhausted. We gave in and turned our air conditioning on so I should sleep well tonight!!! :cloud9:

As soon as the lanyards get here I will be sending out a notice to everyone about options for payment and how to get them!

Alright...we'll chat with you again soon!!!!
