I tried to look at your website but was told that I'm "unauthorized". Is it a closed site??
Also, this is the first time that we've participated in a FE (probably because it's only our second cruise! LOL). I'd like to start getting things for it but am kind of lost. If anyone has ideas - please send them to me. I'm going to go search the cruise boards to see what they recommend for FE gifts....
Anyone else out there going to be at the POP? We're there for 5 nights - including DH's birthday!! It's the first time at that hotel and we're really looking forward to it. Yes, we know the rooms are smaller than some of the other resorts but it looks like a fun place to be. And we don't spend much time in the room anyway - we all love the parks. That's why we scheduled the cruise after WDW - we think we'll need all that relaxation time!!
Can anyone answer a question about Cat 6 staterooms vs cat 8s? I read in one of the cruise books that the cat 6 is bigger - but is that because they are adding the sf from the veranda on to their calculations? Are the rooms really the same size? Right now we're in a "guarantee" status so don't know what room we'll be assigned. I wonder when that will happen...:confused3
I've been trying to look into information regarding Tortola - I can't wait til the first trip report comes out. We're pretty clueless about what excursions to plan at all. So we're open to recommendations...
Have a great day everyone!!:cheer2:

As far as FE stuff. There are lots of little things that you get. Anything Mickey related or something that relates to your home state, last cruise we got candy, flower seeds to plant, little notebooks, cruise music,, etc...!!!!!!!

Do you know that, on DH's birthday, you can redeem a gift certificate worth one day ticket price, to be spent on that same day ?!

http://www.wdwinfo.com/Disney2009Celebration.htm

My DW Laura (Mickey's Dreamers) birthday is the 15th (the cruise departure day) and we are planning a quick stop at MK to redeem/ spend our prize before reaching Port Canaveral.
So we will have a double celebration: land and sea !!

Marco ( DGH = Mickey's dreamers husband = Disney

That's two of us who have birthdays on the 15th Departure day

Thanks everyone!!

Jen's website is awesome!!!

And it will be great to celebrate all those birthdays. Sean's is the 11th but we'll still celebrate it on the ship - and my BIL and DNiece (to be 7) celebrate a birthday during the cruise too.

We heard about the gift certificate offer - isn't it great the Disney is paying us to come?! :lmao:

Jude - Glad you like the website! It has been loads of fun to create and gives me an excuse to be looking at Disney stuff all the time!

I added a blog to it yesterday - everyone is invited to add comments to the site in that area!

I also try to change it up a bit every few days to help entertain us all while we are waiting to go!

Have a great night -
Jen

I am also into scrapbooking and my DD is 10. She would love to email your DD when we get a little closer.

Sean's birthday is August 10th - the first day we'll be at WDW. The gift certificate I referred to applies when someone in your party is celebrating a birthday while at WDW. We'll already have multi day passes (thank you WDW for your awesome military offer!!!!) so Sean wouldn't be able to take advantage of the "free day pass for your birthday" promotion. Instead, he has a few options. One is to accept a gift certificate in the amount of an adult single day admission ticket. My understanding is that it can be used for merchandise only (no food) and must be used on the birth date (if I'm wrong, please don't hesitate to correct me since I'm just learning about this!! Most of the DISers are more knowledgeable about things like this than I am!! :worship: ) Another option is to have a certain number of FAST PASSES available to you. Since we plan to exercise the GC option I can't recall alot about the FAST PASS chances. I'm sure there is a link explaining it - but I couldn't find it (computer challenged here). In order to use this, you should register on the Disney site and also bring a copy of your birth certificate with you. I'm not sure yet where you have to go to redeem your b-day advantages but I'll post it as soon as I find out...

Beautiful day here too! We already have many windows open - it is so nice to have some fresh air in the house.

Plans for the day...more cleaning, correcting huge amounts of my students' work and enjoying the day with my family!

Jude -

Is your family going to be at Pop Century starting on the 10th? We will be there from the 6th until the morning of the 9th. On the 9th, we move to the Polynesian.

I am looking forward to checking the place out since I have read so many different comments about it. We won't have any park tickets at that time so we really will be hanging out at Downtown Disney and the resort.

I do not know about anyone else but that sounds like an excuse to have a party - not that we need excuses. My DD birthday is on the 23rd
:cheer2: party: party: :bday: :mickeyjum :butterfly :flower1:

We usually celebrate my sons birthday near the end of the cruises his is 3rd September the day we get back to the UK

Hi Jen
Yes, we don't arrive at POP til the morning of the 10th - as early as we can get there!! We're driving down to FL on the 6th and staying at my parents' place on Daytona Beach on the 7th, 8th, 9th and driving over to WDW on the 10th. We'll leave as early as I can drag everyone out of bed!! That's the plan anyway..
We're looking forward to staying at the POP. We've never stayed there before either. The kids are very excited looking at the pictures online - and Sean and I are, too. It looks like a fun place to stay. Prior to this, we've typically stayed at SOG - which is beautiful and has huge rooms but doesn't have the same Disney feel sometimes. And it is very, very quiet. Somehow, I don't think "quiet" will describe the POP! I stayed at the POLY when I was a kid with my parents - back in '73...Gulp. Back then there was only 1 park to visit and we still stayed a week. My parents took us out of school for the trip but that's not an option for us since Sean is a teacher and it's less acceptable now to do that. Or wise for us - the older they get, the more they miss. So we've been doing summer trips to WDW and braving the heat.

Kritter -
OMG. It was like we won the lottery. :rotfl2: I checked the current prices on the DCL site (granted, we booked when they were ALOT less!) and we could book two rooms for the price of the one we have!! Seriously, it's a great thing for DCL/WDW to do and we all appreciate it so much. Several of my friends just returned from Afghanistan and they are looking into booking too.

BTW, does anyone know at what point those of us in a GTY stateroom will be assigned a room number ?? Type A personality here - just have to know as soon as I can. LOL.

Beautiful day in upstate NY too but I have a paper due and it's killing me to look outside and see how nice it is out...Gotta get back to it. Groan.:surfweb:
Take care all
Jude
