Hi! We have been occasionally checking out this thread since our family will be on this cruise. Since we are now getting close, it is time to check in with everyone and make it official!

Who is going:
Adults: Me, DH, DSIL
Kids: DD (13), D nephew (12), D niece (10) and DS (9)

Jen

 CIAO Jen !!! :goodvibes

It will be just me Laura (from Italy) and my DGH Marco . NICE TO MEET YOU !!! :flower3:

We did several cruises before this one and always loved to pick up a map of the town we are docked at and simply stroll around on our own !! CHEAP and fun , especially if you try and do a bit of chatting with the locals ! :thumbsup2
Tortola however is NEW to us - so I guess we'll do a guided excursion in the morning ...

DGH ( aka GRUMPY) and I are also in the FE list of this cruise ; I need to go shopping ... ;) for a little something - made in Italy for those FE !!!
[ I LOVE any excuse to go shopping... or JUST to do some windows-watching , now that prices are going up and up , at least here in Italy]

My family will be staying at the Poly a week before we go and we hope to convince my sister-in-law to bring her kids down early as well.

I think I have seen a few posts about a fish exchange - has this been planned for our cruise yet? Any other events going on?

We have not decided on any excursions yet but are considering trying to do the Baths (am a bit concerned that it will be too crowded?). We want to spend as little as possible and just hang out at the beaches wherever we dock. If anyone has been to these ports before and you have suggestions for how to do the island CHEAP :goodvibes we would love to hear your ideas.

The younger kids are all excited and will be great at the kids club. I am a bit concerned about DD (13 years old). She was not fond of the kids clubs last time and she was really looking forward to hanging out with the teens. I am a bit confused about where she is going to be allowed to go since I read here that she has to be with the 11-13 year olds but I see other options on the Disney web site. She is not into going someplace with a bunch of kids she doesn't know.

Well, I have now written a bit much and should probably just post this. Can't wait to hear ideas about the cruise and get a bit involved!

Jen

WELCOME

Your DD is the same age as my DD if she wants a penfriend please contact DISNAME AL'N'STEVE, its a joint one with my son who is 10 will be 11 on the cruise.

Just mark if its for ALICE or STEPHEN, they have a few PM's going on and organising a meet up.

Hi Jen,

Welcome :yay: I don't have to much to offer in ways of what to do in port. Tortolla is new to us and we have never done to much in St. Thomas. We usually use the time in port to stay on a empty ship and enjoy the pools (at least in the morning), then we might go and walk around the town a bit.

My DD is 10 and would love to have as many email pals as possible. If you D Niece is interested, you can pm me.

Sharon

Hello Everyone! Hope you are all having a great day.

Sharon - I do not know if my D Niece has an e-mail account. I will be talking with my SIL this weekend or next week and will talk with her about it.

My DD will probably send a PM for Alice though. She loves to be one the computer. Last cruise she chatted with a couple of girls and really liked at least recognizing a friendly face on the cruise. She is a very busy dance girl though and we are coming into competition season so we will see.

We are so excited because we booked this cruise 2 years ago - it seems like the time is going so fast now!

On our last cruise, someone organized rubber band type bracelets for everyone and they were a really fun reminder of our cruise. I have noticed that many groups also order imprinted lanyards for the DIS cruisers who are interested. It seems like this would be something useful and fun for people to have. If anyone is interested, I have done a bit of research and know that we could get them (in lots of 100) for about $2.00 a lanyard. I think they would be kind of fun because it would make it easy to tell who the other DIS people are when you are on the cruise. If enough people are interested, I can organize it.

Talk later!

Jen,

I love the idea of the landyards. I think if everyone else likes it we should go ahead and get them.. FUN...Great idea.

Last cruise we took the logo that we had and everyone transfrered it at home on their own and ironed it onto t-shirts that we all wore....But I must say I really like the landyard idea......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kritter - I have found a few different places that will custom imprint lanyards. There are so many choices with color, clips, badge holders, etc. If people reply that they are interested, I will start seriously working on options.

I have one more project I am working on...a website that has all of the cruise information in one place. It is really a work in progress but would love to hear people's thoughts on the site! If you want to check it out:

Have a great night everyone!

:goodvibes HI Jen !!!
I really do like your idea !!!! :thumbsup2 :) :lovestruc it sounds fun !!!Myself and DGH will surely be interested !!!!!!

On one of our past cruises all the DISers had a (short) meet & greet thing during the Sail away party :

:sail: we had decided that people could just show up on deck 10, midship, starboard at any time during the Sail away party to say Hi !

   ... ON THIS CRUISE we could do the same and maybe "collect" our own lanyard...:grouphug: while enjoying the show and the new friends' company !!

WHAT DO OTHERS THINK OF ???????

WOW !! our cruise seems closer now ... :cheer2: laura

:goodvibes WOW !! :cool1: We too did it on a previous cruise !!!:cloud9:

I LOVE SO MUCH :thumbsup2 :) :goodvibes the actual logo for this cruise that I would suggest to go for this project as well !!
I mean , IF people like to do so ... :woohoo: :woohoo: a family could join in both projects ... or just in ONE !!!

DGH and I will surely print the logo somewhere , maybe on my backpack ...or t shirts ...
It's nice to recognize (and be recognized by) fellow cruisers ... and meet them in person !!!:grouphug:

Hey Jen, Your soo talented..

I started a website a while ago but nothing like the one you have. Would you like the link so you could take the information from the one I started and put it on yours?? It was suggested that to me by a moderator once that once we start posting personal information on our website not to post the link directly here on the DIS just so any personal information such as room numbers, etc. is only made available to people actually cruising on our cruise.. Just a thought. .

I think we should look into the landyards more. I know Heather would like those too..

Ed, I love the design you posted. Could we possibly use the logo that some of us have in our signatures too?? I love this one...

Jen, would it be possible to post the info. on the landyards, and logo for t-shirts, etc.. on the website?? Then I can also provide you with the FE information for the website too!!!!!

We also would be interested in the lanyards. It would be a great gift for everyone in our party and a good keepsake.

Kritter - I had heard that certain things should not be posted as well. I am more than willing to set up the web site for all of our needs. I have a .mac account that makes it really easy to do regular pages, photo pages, blogs, etc. If you want to send me the information for our group, I will keep working on the site. Tonight my goal is to get all of the excursion information on the site. I just did it because I was tired of flipping from site to site to find information and wanted one place where I could find everything. My goal is to have the site grow and be useful for everyone as we make more and more plans. I have the ability to password protect the site so that sections of it can be private (like room numbers and such). I can also post our logo for people to be able to download and use. I only started the site last night and I can try to do whatever people want.

Start sending me things and I will keep working on it!
