whoa! this is one looong thread!

hey there, i am just poking in to say hello...my family is currently booked on a may '09 trip but with the deposit special now i am looking at booking an alternative date 'just in case.' my just in case scenarios are #1 if dd misses too much school and we can't take her out in may to go and / or #2 if the economy continues to tank...if we are stuck with too many absences i was thinking about going on this cruise.

have any of you sailed in the eastern caribbean in august before? i am just worried about the heat? anyone been to tortola?

well, i hope you don't mind if i hang around a bit and ask some questions while i'm trying to figure out our plans!

oh, btw, i got a quote of about $5500 for 2 adults / 1 child for a cat 6 - is that a decent price for this time of year (i got a little bit better for our may sailing so i was just curious). thanks!

Hi , feel free to hang around. I've crusied the western caribbean in august a couple years ago. It really is no worse than being in WDW in August. Yes its hot and humid outside, but who cares, your on vacation, your on a disney ship and having fun. Many places are air conditioned so it really is no worse than anywhere else in the summer. But your having a great time

Couldn't have said it better myself, Ed!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Still waiting for my party invitation here in NJ..... :rotfl2:

Sorry Harry!!! The party is over! If I had checked the Dis this morning I would have extended an invite to ya! :rotfl: The Tinkerbell birthday cake with dark purple icing was a hit. I was going around telling everyone who ate the purple icing to stick out their tongues to see how purple they were. :lmao: (Just FYI, there were no wands on HER cake. :rotfl2:) ;)

Welcome!! I've cruise in August before and while it was HOT and my hair didn't like the humidity, I didn't care because it was VACATION!!! :thumbsup2

How has the weather been?

Weather has been HOT but I will never complain I love the heat. Way better than New England Weather that is for sure. A few thunderstorms in the afternoon. But very typical of Florida for this time of year. They do not last long though. Maybe,, an hour or so!!!!!!!!! Headed out to Vero Beach tomorrow morning... So I'll talk to you all next weekend when we get home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahhh, you remember that wand, eh?! ;)

hi everyone, thank you for the warm welcome! we're still trying to decide whether to change our cruise or not. there's a lot to think about. august would be great in terms of not missing school but the heat - ugh - i just don't know if i can take it!? but you're right you are on vacation so who cares?!

has anyone cruised in november? that is the other possibility. yes, we'd have to take dd out of school but it would be in the next school year ('09) and we wouldn't have 2 events competing in the same month like we do now with a may '09 cruise and my stepdaughter's graduation (which is 500 miles away and will require at least 2-3 days out of school as well). st. croix is an option in november and that sounds pretty nice too.

i just don't want to add another 3 - 6 months to the waiting we are already doing!!! waaahhh!!!

Hello everyone!! I'm back!!! I was just playing ketchup! We had a great vacation in Atlanta and Auburn, Al. We swam, ate, drank, and talked- very relaxing!! Now back to work tomorrow.:sad1:

WE've cruised the last years and are going this upcoming year as well the week after Thanksgiving. It's a great cruise with a great group of people. Ship and Castaway Cay are all decked out for the holidays. Huge Christmas tree in the atrium, big real gingerbread house outside Lumiere's, story reading by Mrs. Santa Claus, Carolers greeting the ship at Castaway, a gingerbread house making seminar and lots of other fun stuff. I highly recommend it if you can't make it with our happy gang here.
