Ed - I got a recommendation from a fellow cruiser on my Nov. 2006 DCL. He also used insuremytrip but then picked TravelEx and it was about half of the price of the DCL insurance. The reason I took his recommendation is that he actually got sick on the cruise (there was an outbreak of the stomach thing/norovirus that year if you remember). He filed with Travelex and got a settlementeven though he got sick on the last night of the cruise. They also reimbursed him for other expenses. I think he had to stay over in Orlando a night because he was driving but couldn't do the drive home. He said it was easy to deal with and they couldn't have been nicer about it all. I thought that was a great thing so I used them for my August Mexican Riviera cruise and yep, it was just a little more than 50 percent the cost of going through DCL.

Thanks I will check them out

Hi Treasure seekers,

I need some help in deciding on who to use for Travel insurance for this trip. Last time I just took the insurance offered by Disney.

Any recomemations on who to use?
I have been checking some of the sites and I am getting overloaded with the options.

For our Jan trip we used insuremytrip.com and a policy from TravelGuard. I would use them again, but before I do, I want to double check the weather related clauses to ensure that hurricane related delays are covered. I know that AIG offer a good policy as far as the hurricane issues go, but they are more expensive.

I think last time we paid around $250 for all 4 of us (but we did have flights on airmiles, so the cost was lower - basically just covering the cruise costs)

Jeff-

You just jogged my memory. Travelex was one I got a brochure from and their rates looked really good. I went ahead and got insurance through DCL but if we cruise again I'll probably look more in depth at other options.

Thanks I just got my travel insurance using Travelex
Still confusing, but I covered the cost of the cruise. my main goal.

Hi All
Thanks for the warm Welcomes. Sorry I haven't posted for a while but we've been busy buying DVC!!! Our contract was submitted today to Disney for ROFR so the wait begins. Our home resort will be BWV. We love Epcot and DH wants a Boardwalk View. If it doesn't go through we'll just have to try again. At least this is occupying my time until our Tortola cruise which is still so far away.
Good night all.

Congrats on the DVC and good luck with the paperwork being finalized!

Hey did you all see this about the new fuel surcharge from DCL??

Disney Cruise Line News
~A lot is happening aboard the Disney Magic and Wonder Cruise Ships. Here's the latest cruise news~

FUEL SURCHARGE

Disney Cruise Line is applying a fuel surcharge to all new bookings made on or after May 28, 2008. The fees are as follows:

$8 per person per day for the first two guests in a stateroom
$3 per person per day for all additional guests in the stateroom
$112 maximum charge for the first two guests
$42 maximum charge for the additional guests

Mexican Port of Call Tax Increase

Disney Cruise Line will be adding $5 per Mexican port for new cruise bookings and those not paid in full for 7/1/08 and beyond. This includes the Eastbound Panama Canal Crossing, the 7 Night Mexican Riviera cruises, the 7 Night Western Cruises, and the Western Cruises visiting Costa Maya.

Disney Cruise Line will be adjusting the rates for their guests who have not paid the balance of the cruises currently booked which are impacted by this increase.

The application of changes in Government Fees and Taxes is mandatory.

Hiya all!
Congrats Harry for another Flyers win last night!

I got to go on a field trip with 75 third graders today! Parent volunteering is great. :rotfl: No really it was cool to watch my kid interact in her "natural environment" with her peers. It was a really good day.

Just dropped off DD9 at dance, we're skipping soccer tonight. Then I'm off to a swim team parent's meeting for the team that starts up in a week or so. Then back home to watch the Penguins game! Hope the meeting doesn't last too long.

Happy Tuesday all!

Jeff,

Sounds, like a busy night for you. Hope your meeting goes well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least it's for new bookings... did you all see that Carnival ended up having to refund $40M to customers who were billed a surcharge after they booked?

Oh my gosh. That is a ton of money...!!!!!!!!
