8/10/2008 - Mexican Party Cruise - Who's Here??

:cool1: I just noticed on my previous post that my countdown is 4 months and 2 weeks!!! I am also wishing my summer away...That is the bad thing about booking during August, but my dd dances and June is recital and practice, practice, practice because we have National competition in July...so we cant go for very long until after that! This should be a great trip! :cool1: :cool1:

Yep that's us too. My DD9 is on a swim team that competes until late July. Last year we went away in early July and she missed 3 meets and the championships. It was her first year so we had no idea. Didn't make that mistake this time.

:cool1: Now this is the Chit Chat I like to see!!! Let's get some new voices on here!!! It's gettin' closer and closer to cruisin' time!

I am holding out on booking my air, hoping for a sale with Southwest for those dates. There is actually a good fare (298) into Orange County but the times aren't desireable. Lots of choices in the 400 dollar range and I guess we can go with one of those if we have to..but I'd really rather fly SW.

We also keep flip flopping on what we are doing after the cruise. Right now we are leaning toward 2 nights at the Grand Californian and then 3 nights at the St. Regis Monarch Beach. Right now I have all five nights booked at the St. Regis but I really really want to stay onsite at DL. What I hate is the moving from hotel to hotel but I think we have it figured out that it won't be incredibly painful. We shall see..

:thumbsup2 We booked our airfare in early january. We live on the other side of the state of PA... as far as you can go (the Lehigh Valley). I checked into using Orange County airport as well but also felt the times were not good at all! We are leaving from our little international airport (LVI) and are flying in and out of LAX. We are using continental and paid $332 pp. We could have used Newark but that was a 50 minute drive compared to about 15 and only about $10 cheaper pp. We would have spent that in gas and parking! Our flight from LAX doesn't leave until 11:00 pm but we chose that time since we will be flying with 33 month old and have hopes that she will sleep! We booked a hotel near LAX for the day. I am still looking for other options for this day... but I like being close to the airport and no worries late in the day about traffic!

Really there can't be only four of us going on this cruise. Where are the rest of you?

Page 3 is unacceptable. Come on people! Get ready for Coronas and sunshine here on the DIS

Hey how are the couple of you doing??? :rotfl2: I wonder where everyone is at?????? :confused3 We had competition this weekend and it was a good competition for us, :cool1: but I bet alot of other studios hated us!

Hi out there to my 4 cruisin' friends!!!!:cool1:
How are you doing??? We are going to WDW in December and last night I was looking for flights... wow!!!! The prices are so high! I am really glad that we have our Aug. flights booked in January. I checked that flight and it is up $50.00 pp!!! If you haven't booked yet... think about it!!!

I still can't believe that there are only going to be our families on this cruise... we got a great deal... it seems that we are going to have the whole ship to ourselves!!!!

I can't believe it is so close. We are all getting so excited. We recieved the neet little book of excursions etc. from Disney the other day it makes it seem so much closer!!!! :cool1:

m&p's mom: My daughter also dances on her school dance team and we just finished out the year at State comp. It was a blast and they did real well. I am taking a breath because it starts all over again next month. Good luck to your dancer :dancer:

We are flying in the day before from Seattle. I booked everything through Disney then transfered to Dreams so I am not sure where we will be staying or what time we will be there. I think they set us up at a hotel at the airport.
The last time we did the Mexican Cruise with Disney we got there the day of and it was crazy so I decided the day before. I also figured we might go to downtown disney poss. the park. It all depends on time frame.:confused3

I think we are going to do a beach thing and then do stuff on our own we did a lot last time and feel it will be better on our own with a little one. The kids might do the teen surfin' safari but they are also thinking of doing the teens cruise in Puerto Vallarta.

Can't wait to meet all of you. party: :disrocks:

Greetings. As someone who has been on a Mexican cruise before, tell us what you loved about it. (have you done the Caribbean sailings too?) We have done both Eastern (twice) and Western Caribbean with DCL but this is our first Mexican Riviera!

Love to hear any input or tips you can give us!

Well we loved just about everything! The staff was wonderful the food WOW it was so good. The shows were all enjoyable. My daughter loved the teen clubs and my son had a great time in the preteen area. We went to the swim with dolphins that was a great experience and we did a couple of the costal tours at the other ports.
We had never cruised before and this will only be our 2nd time cruising and we are just as excited as our first. I am hoping to maybe one day do one of the cruises from Florida and make a great trip out of it and see my brother while in Florida.
When in the ports you will have a lot of very young children trying to sell you chicklets gum and these little turtle whistles. It is very sad and they are very persistant they will follow you forever and if you even give them a dollar you will have hords of children at your feet then. We were told by the tour guide on one of the bus trips we took that the govenment would very much like that you do not give to these kids. He said that they have all kinds of programs to help families and they continue to use their children in this manner because they get lots of money this way. The parents sit down the street and watch their children do this and they sit and collect the money.
We liked Cabo the best it was very much the tourist area you could do much more on your own. The others were more of the excursion type places. In cabo you have to take the little boats into shore and when you get there you go through a port authority type thing and there are a lot of police walking around with big guns slung over their shoulder very wierd feeling (I wanted to jump back on the ship). A great place to shop for trinkets but don't grab at hte first place they all have about the same thing. You can barter with most too, if you choose to (I always feel weird doing that but my hubby is good at it.)

Still holding off on booking our air (for no good reason just being lazy) and hoping the prices don't go up any more.

We did book Grand Californian for pre-cruise! Now I need to figure our transportation to the pier...

Started looking seriously at the excursions yesterday so we have an idea of what we are going to do. Now to get the kids' input to make sure they WILL do the dolphin thing with me in PV.

Hello everyone! Got back this morning (OMG those overnight transatlantic flights are a killer) and spent the day getting back in the swing of things - OK, I mean sleeping on the sofa!!!

Barbados was lovely - DH and DS got all scuba-tastic whilst I just chilled, drank rum punch and read many books! My idea of heaven... :cloud9:

Hope everyone's healthy and happy! I look forward to catching up over the next few days... :goodvibes

Returned home to find the pre-cruise info pack from DCL and sooo excited we'll be booking our Palo, Spa treatments and excursions later this month!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

PS: Just spotted my post from a few days ago - I wasn't sure if it'd make it as I used DH's Blackberry and I'm not an expert... ;)

so what is the date for returning cruisers to book Palo, excursions, etc - is it May 12?

CustardTart,
So happy that you had a great time in Barbados while I was slaving away at work!!! HAHAHAHA... just kiddin'! My opinion is the more vacations the better!!! MY DH and I have been to Barbados 2 times and we loved it. Once we a cab driver drop us off at "a nice beach." Yup, that's what we asked for! It was stunning! It was the most beautiful beach I ever saw. The locals were there (which always says a lot) and there was a small private wedding going on about 25 ft away. Then the sun set!!! I was scared... remote beach, locals all around, a small dirt path back to the tiny access road... thank goodness our cab came back for us just like he promised! He got a huge tip by the way!!!

Anyway... welcome back! :goodvibes

Wow four posts in one day by three different people. THAT may be a new record for this thread. :lmao:
