Hi ya'll! Hmmm... that sounded a little Britney Spears-ish!

Oh well, It's a slow day but good one!

Betsy, hope your finger heels quickly! I can't blame you for getting excited about WDW w/ the DGDs! Looks like you guys have a great week planned!:thumbsup2

Mandy, what kind of exercise dvd are you doing? They have this dance/exercise class called Zumba, last night was my first class... my legs are killing me today:rotfl: The dances were sooo funny... she had us shaking our booty. My kept shaking after I stopped moving!:lmao:

Robin, be safe on your final journey home tonight! We miss chatting with you! Hurry back!;)

Yes Betsy, I hope your finger is better today :thumbsup2

Kelly - my DVD is years old, it was made by a member of Big Brother UK back in 2000, it's like a dance routine with exercises too. It's OK, but at least it gets me off my butt :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Have you heard yet about whether your team has won yet ?

Robin - we've missed you, I look forward to hearing all about your adventure :)

Hello and howdy all.

Guess who's back :confused3

:rotfl2:

I'll tell you honestly that we were really tempted to just turn that van around and head back south again.

The weather here is crappy, horrible stuff. Most of the drive today was not that great. It started with rain first off in Tennessee and then switched to snow as we went north.

The last twenty minutes away from home were the worst of them all. Once we got off the main highway to the local roads it was blowing snow and extremely icy roads.

Not much fun after 11 days in the south. :guilty:

First off I need to correct your misunderstanding. Rick did not get first place but he got second in his category. He was soooo thrilled that he just grinned for about an hour. The whole trip was worth it just to see that :goodvibes

Betsy, so sorry to hear about your mom and her pacing problems. Is she any better lately?

You mentioned that you were colouring with her. Have you ever tried the "hidden" picture pictures. You know the ones with pictures hidden in them that you have to find the objects. I've read that those are good for Alzheimers patients. If I get the chance I will find the link that I had. It was really good, had a ton of pictures that you could print off and use.

Kelly, loved the dress. You are going to look wonderful in it.

Mandy, sounds like you have some nice plans in store for your trip this summer.

Gotta go and check out the threadkillers.

Be back tomorrow to tell you more about my trip.

Welcome home Robin, I'm not surprised that you wanted to turn around, I've heard that the weather's been bad your way

It's been fun and games over here overnight. Around 1am there was an earthquake (about 100 miles away). The tremor woke me up and frightened the life out of me :scared1:

When I woke the girls, they said they both felt it, but would you believe Paul slept through it - what is he like ? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It's all over the news this morning

Anyway have a great day everyone and I look forward to hearing some more about your travels Robin

Good morning Mandy.

I heard about your earthquakes this morning while I was listening to the radio.:scared1:

Of course thought of you right away:hug:

MEN, :sad2:

Rick probably would have slept right thru it too.

Morning gals,
Its my laundry day today:laundy:

Wecome home Robin! ...Missed you BIG time...::yes::

My mom is better then she was that day...but its not been going so well....She didnt know who I was this morning until I told her...Then she said oh thats right...But I think she was just covering, for not remembering....

I have asked for help from the family..( as its starting to get too much for just me)....and the end results is...it will stay status quo...With just myself as caregiver, and my sister taking her every other weekend:sad2: ..Its the pits ...and Im not pleased...seeing as there are five of us children, and my brother is retired, living in HER old house..all summer long...
On a good note..my wonderful SD & DIL(the one with the 6 kids, with one on the way)...Is going to be helping a great deal...as they will take her for a week at a time once a month...
I cant believe that it has to come to this, and my DBs and DSs, wont step up and pitch in...Im NOt very proud of my family right now:sad2:

BUT enough of that.....

Robin,
besides that rotten drive home...how was the trip?....Did you do any Disney at all?.....Did ya get a nice tan?...I cant wait to see some pictures of warm sunny weather...:sunny:

Kelly,
Good luck with the game!pixiedust:

OMG!!!!MANDY!
An earthquake?.....I didnt think you got earthquakes in the UK.....It would have made me pretty freaked....I have to admit..it would have been me to not wake up:blush:....I normally sleep like the dead...once Im asleep....Mike on the other hand gets up 2-3 times a night...always has...he was the one to hear the kids when they were babies,...He would then wake me up to feed and change them:rolleyes: ..He IS my alarm clock...:goodvibes

Well I better go check on my mom....:3dglasses

Betsy, the situation with the family is really sad and unfortunately all too common.

I know with my grandmother, my mom had all the responsibility for EVERYTHING. No one even went to visit her in the nursing home.

Oh, when she was at the dying stage others offered to come and sit with her and my mother told them not to bother:sad2:

If they couldn't visit her before, she didn't really need them to come and sit with her at her deathbed.

They all thought they wanted something of hers to "remember" her by of course. My mom just told them that there was nothing left since it was all gotten rid of when she entered the nursing home.

But how nice of your son and DIL to offer their help. They have such busy lives already but they do have all those girls who will benefit from having the opportunity to see what it is like living with their great grandmother.

You make sure that you take good care of yourself Betsy.

You will be no good at all to your mother if you get too overwhelmed.

And if you need to talk, you know that we are here for you, anytime.:grouphug:

Oops forgot your other question.;)

The trip went very well actually.

It was me and Rick driving down and we picked Don up at the Orlando airport on Monday morning Feb 18.

While we were waiting for Don's luggage I managed to sneak into the Disney store for about 10 minutes:goodvibes

Monday to Sunday it was me with the 2 guys. We actually all stayed in the same room and it worked out just fine.

That way we could all share the costs of the rooms which were not really very cheap down there at this time of the year.

As for Disney I got to drive thru the Disney property on the way to the hotel and then back onto the Disney property the next morning to put gas in the van.

That was the entire extent of my Disney this trip :sad1:

Two times now I've been in Orlando and not been to Disney World. What the heck is up with that????

After getting Don we headed further south towards Miami. The days were filled with the guys practicing their flying and me sitting around reading or doing word puzzles.

On Saturday and Sunday it was the actual competition.

So it was really a pretty long and boring trip for me, except for the fact that I was in the semi warmth (some days were chilly winds) and the nice sunshine for most days.

Lots of airplane talk

We dropped Don back off at the airport in Orlando on Monday morning and Rick and I drove home from there.

Yes I did manage to get a nice tan while I was down there.

A bit of sunburn but not enough to be painful.

On the first Monday we met up with some guys from Quebec that Rick and Don knew and we spent a few days "hanging around" with them.

The 4 guys practiced flying together and we ate dinner together every evening.

That was a lot of fun.

It was interesting to have someone else to talk with and to listen to their lovely french accents.

of course the talk was still all airplane related:rotfl2:

The one guy lives in Quebec City and he said that he could get onto the roof of his house just by stepping outside onto the snow pile:scared1:

I guess we should be thankful for small mercies with our own snowfall level:rotfl2:

Hey Girls

Betsy - It was the first time I have ever felt an earthquake (and hopefully the last), you're right we hardly get any earthquakes over here

You must be so proud of your DS & DIL, for stepping up and helping out with your mom.

Robin - I would be gutted to be on Disney property and not visit even DownTown Disney. I would have to get a tiny bit of Disney magic to keep me going ;)

I'm sure you enjoyed your break, even to get away from the miserable weather

Kelly - Hi, I hope you are all OK

Yeah, I know what you mean Mandy.

I got to drive right by Downtown Disney and stare longingly at it from the car window:guilty:

;)

Morning Girls

I hope you're all well

So who is the next lucky person to be off on their holidays ? Is it Betsy or Kelly ?

My trip feels so far away :(

Robin - Have you got any plans for another Cruise or trip ?

What are your plans for today ? I'm just taking my mum shopping this morning

Have a great day whatever you're doing :)

 Morning Mandy.

We have no plans right now for a next vacation or cruise :guilty:

I'm sure that something will come along though;)

Just have no idea where or when.

We are toying with the idea of going to Holland maybe in the fall. Rick has most all of his extended family there. One of his cousins asked if we were thinking of coming soon, so we might do that:confused3

We will have to wait and see how things go around here.

Today I must go to work.

It's payday and I haven't been to work since last payday two weeks ago

I think I've probably got a bit of catching up to do.

Have a great day everyone.

What kind of shopping are you going to do Mandy?

Mandy, I forgot to mention something to you.

When we went to Florida for our cruise in January we went shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall near to Disney.

I went into the Disney store there and I saw your pink hat there:thumbsup2

Reminded me of you of course:goodvibes

Betsy here is a link for those hidden pictures I was talking about to maybe try with your mom.

http://www.highlightskids.com/GamesandGiggles/HiddenPics/HiddenPicsPrintable/h8hiddenArchive.asp

An Alzheimer site that I was looking at said that they have good results using these with Alzheimer patients.

You can print them out (look at page 2, there are tons of different ones to use) and help her find the hidden items and then even colour the pictures if you wanted to.

It's at least worth a try for something different to keep her occupied.

Have you tried simple children's jigsaw puzzles with large pieces:confused3

Morning Robin

It wasn't an exciting morning shopping today. I take my mum into Coventry a couple of times a week, and it really isn't the most interesting shopping centre at all. My mum had her hair cut and bought a few things, but that was it

In a couple of weeks Becky has a day off school, so we have decided to go to Birmingham on the train and have a mum/daughter day, as it's her birthday the following week and I want to buy her a few things - so I'm looking forward to that :thumbsup2

I always smile when I think about that hat Robin, that was the one I left on the airplane by accident. I bought another one last Summer, but I hardly wore it compared to that first one. At least you all knew who I was at the port when we met for the first time :)

Have a good day at work Robin

Morning all...
Very sunny here :sunny:...BUT (13 degrees)COLD!:cold:Its kind of pretty, all the trees are sparkily...from the sun on the ice..

Have a fun time at work...:surfweb: Good luck catching up...pixiedust:

Mandy,
