7DMT Not Worth the Wait - for Us!

I'd wait up to 30 minutes for the ride if I had younger kids. I'd skip it if I was just an adult/teen if the line was more than 20 minutes. It's fun but not a must do for older kids & adults.

I agree. :thumbsup2

There isn't a ride on earth that I'd be willing to wait 90 mins for. It's why we do rope drop, FP+, etc. :goodvibes

OP, I think you have it absolutely right. It is fine for kiddies, misses the mark a bit for older kids, and adults. I'm a good sized guy at near 6', and about 250lbs. Getting that restraint even close to over my knees required squeezing together bits of my body that I would prefer not to squeeze in such a way :rotfl2:

Visually, the ride is very appealing. The rocking of the cars is a magnificent idea, though the preliminary footage that Disney showed of the design mounted in a truck bed might have gone a long way towards leading people to believe that the rocking would be MUCH more pronounce than it is in the finished ride. The track is amazingly smooth, but the ride is also quite short.

It is fine for kids, and I wouldn't dislike it if I fit a bit better in it. I certainly wouldn't want to wait 40 minutes or longer for it, though the AC in the queue building is amazing.

I am NOT a big thrill coaster person, but I would like to see a coaster built with the swaying cars designed for a bit more thrilling ride, I think that the idea has amazing potential.

We have been to WDW 15+ times and DD and I loved it. I had low expectations going in so i was pleasantly surprised. It will be a FP must do for us. There are so many times you can ride SM, Splash and Big Thunder.

It's in Fantasyland....along with dumbo, peter pan, winnie the poo, its a small world, princess fairytale hall... :rolleyes1

My gripe is how long it took. Just saying.

....... and in Disneyland Fantasyland is home to the Matterhorn. Not sure why that matters.

That said, I'm still looking forward to riding it in the near future and expect to enjoy it for what it is.

Kevin, I think it's a shame you changed your FP+s for different rides. The first time I rode it I was also disappointed and thought "is that all there is?" but on subsequent rides I enjoyed it a whole lot more. I think it's because I accepted it for what it was and enjoyed it within that context.

- It is better coaster for younger kids - I think my daughter would have loved it more when she was 6 - right at that "Barnstormer is getting boring but BTMR and SM maybe still too much."

I will add it was never designed to be much more than a kiddie coaster, though for some reason many expect more.

You just summed up what the seven dwarfs mine train IS and what it was intended for.

Eventually decided to at least build something young boys might enjoy as well,so they found what little space was left and designed the 7DMT.

It would have been nice if Disney or its advertising agency had figured this out when they launched their advertising campaign at roll-out. That "Sunglasses" commercial featuring the 7DMT gives the distinct impression that the ride is much more in line with BTMRR than Barnstormer. Hence much of the confusion. Instead of a family with a teenager, perhaps the ad should have shown a family with children ages 6 and 8. And maybe they shouldn't have sped up the film speed to make the ride look like it topped out at 50 mph. Let's face it. Disney did everything it could to make this ride appear on television as if it would rival BTMRR in terms of "thrill" and targeted the audience that loves that ride. Far more people saw that ad than read these Boards. Watch this and ask yourself: "BTMRR or Barnstormer"? http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7pm7/disney-world-seven-dwarfs-mine-train-heigh-ho

I agree 100% with this. After reading a couple of threads on 7DMT I'm in the process of switching my FP+ reservation away from 7DMT to something else. I know not to expect big thrills when coming to Disney, so I'm not all that surprised they went the docile route with it but the ads are a bit deceiving. For the record, wife and I are big coaster fans (the longer, higher, faster the better) so I don't think we'll be missing much.

For us using a FP+ for this ride was worth it, we only waited about 10 minutes to ride with the FP. DH hates fast rollercoasters, BTMR is the wildest rollercoaster he will ride and even then he skips it and just waits for the rest of us half the time, so this was a good ride to go on with the whole family. I would not wait in standby for this ride, an hour or more of waiting is not worth it for the relatively low intensity of the ride.

If you decide to ride this at rope drop, remember to enter the park on the right side of the train station, so that you walk past the teacups ride. If you enter on the left you will get there after the right side people are already in line.

I've ridden it 7 times now. I will ride it some more. It's cute and it is fun if you can get past how short a ride it is. But - only with fastpass. The thing had 2 hour waits last weekend. Heck no.

you get more swinging in the last car.
