Ok, I just got back and want to provide an honest review after riding 7DMT for our first time - not trying to be controversial - one family opinion please!
First, context is critical to this review. My children are older - 19, 14 and 11. We have been to WDW 4 times, Universal Orlando last March (kids loved it!). So they are in to the "big coasters" now. We had FastPass+ for 7DMT for 3 different days (I booked them at 60 days). We rode it the first time on Tue (1/13) with minimal wait - thank goodness! Standby I believe at the time was around 60-90 minutes.
The conclusion? For us - it did not live up to the hype! We changed the remaining 2 FP+ for the remaining 2 days to either BTMR or Space Mountain (so hope someone on these boards got to use them!)
- We loved the theme and visuals! It is beautiful to look at from beginning to end.
But look fast!
- Ride is way too short. One ride just started and finished in the time I took to type to this point...
- The swaying of the cars is minimal - and doesn't really add much to the ride. The coaster itself is, well, as my kids said, "boring."
- The cars are very small - made for toddlers? - you are wedged in the car. I am 6' 2" with lanky frame and felt squashed with a stockier gentlemen next to me - not overweight but stocky build and we were squished in the car.
- It is better coaster for younger kids - I think my daughter would have loved it more when she was 6 - right at that "Barnstormer is getting boring but BTMR and SM maybe still too much." Even so, the length of the ride for me would still necessitate a much shorter wait (30 minutes or less!) or FP+ only.
I would certainly recommend trying to get a FP+ or getting there first thing in the morning or late at night to experience the ride with a short wait - it is fun to experience at least once and judge for yourself if a wait is worth it the second time. For us, it just wasn't.
