$79 Kindle or $199 Kindle Fire

I really like the 3G option, so that is why I am leaning towards that one. And I really think a keyboard would be best for me.

I need to have DH go over this with me, and give me the okay to order it. I already have over half of the $ saved up, so if he is okay with giving me the rest of it (we are going over ALL purchases with each other) I think that will be the one I get. He has a co-worker that got a Kindle and he was complaining he would never use it, so if he decides to sell it (DH said he would ask him about it) we would probably purchase that one, no matter what one it is. But if not, at least I have narrowed it down to which one I would like to get.

If you are still undecided, I would suggest waiting for a couple of months. There are rumors (or "rumours" depending on where you are from) for a Kindle Fire version 2.

Glad to be helpful.

The biggest difference is the screen. The touch screen won't be as eye-friendly if you read for hours.

DH and I went to Staples to look at them face-to-face.

He immediately zoned into the Kindle Fire and said that if I didn't get that one I would end up regretting it. Especially since there was not a huge ($60) price difference.

He grabbed it and bought it for me.

I ordered a case for it, and am getting ready to play now.

Thanks everyone for your advice. DS is ecstatic that we got the Fire, and now I guess I can leave my netbook at home when we travel now.

I am kind of iffy about it, but I think DH is right and I would regret not getting this one, especially since I have been teetering back and forth so much about which one I want.

Now I can't go to Tiffany (I told him I won't buy any expensive jewelry since we got this) when we go to Times Square in June, but I got something the entire family will enjoy!

You won't be sorry if you spend the extra money for the Fire. I got one for DH for Christmas, and within a few days we bought a second one for me. Actually the kids use it too-- ages 7, 5, and 3. They'd use it all the time if we let them! A great deal IMO!

I just got the kindle fire for Christmas and love it. I do love the wifi capability but I don't have an Iphone or a netbook and I wouldnot use my phone for wifi simply because the screen is tiny.

anyway I do a lot of reading but some times it's nice to surf the web. I was at the hair dressers the other day and it's was great reading the dis while under the dryer. LOL.
