779 points less later....

cseca...We had 1-1 bedroom, 2-2 bedrooms and the GV parkview! We were there 3 nights but it included a saturday. The Saturday points were high but that way everyone had the full week-end and only took a couple of days from work for the Monday, Tuesday.

That probably is the true value of a timeshare and the reason for us it is not always the best deal.

For us it is the best deal. Not just because we can take family but because we never stay in studios so we never have to stop and compare ourselves to people paying cash to stay in similiar size rooms with a few less amenities. You can get a fridge in one of their standard rooms. We stayed in a concierge room that cost us $550 a night before we joined and the 1 br beats it hands down. Now they treated us like royalty but still...

If you spend almost all of your waking time outside your room and you have a meal plan the DVC probably costs you more.

We used over 2 1/2 years worth of points (around 750) to go for 9 days last December with our extended family. It was probably once in a lifetime, but totally worth it. I think what made it work was that we had separate accommodations for the two family groups rather than getting a grand villa, and we agreed at the outset that while there were certain things we wanted to all do together, it was everyone's vacation and everyone had the right to do whatever they would enjoy the most. So there were many days when we were all together in the parks, but there were also times when just DH and I went to dinner and others did their own thing, or some went to a park and others relaxed at the resort. While there's always more I wish we had done, we came home with memories to cherish for a lifetime, and everyone had a great time.
Have a wonderful trip!

We actually bought into DVC because when I asked DM how she wanted to celebrate her 85th birthday, she wanted to go to Disney World. Well, I couldn't resist, it seemed perfect. For 4 nights in December '04, we had BWV 2 bedroom and 4 studios. We only had bought 200 BWV points in '03 and I remember being so worried before booking because, it had to be done day by day and I only had enough with banking and borrowing to do it if I could get Standard view. Well...it happened, and my favorite picture has mom smiling on the carousel in MK, they even printed it in her home town paper.

Mom's 90 now, and can't go any more, her body and mind are failing her, but I bring out my albums and we share that most wonderful memory.

Best wishes to all of you who are planning these events.

WOWEEE!!
That sounds awesome... oh I can imagine the points for a weekend.
I was so hoping I could get everyone on a Sun-Th trip but in the end we wanted to spend christmas at the park. So I couldn't say no really :)
If not for the dreaded weekends I would've been able to stretch my points even further... :lmao:

It is sooo wonderful to hear these wonderful big group stories. I've read other experiences where people had the most awful time inviting their friends/family. I think there should be more trip reports about family reunions with DVC points :) Big or small...

When I bought the first 150pts I had a dream to do something like this. But never in a million years would I thought that it would come true.
Well ok, it took way way more add ons than I thought but it is coming true.
I just can't wait. Wish we could get everyone in the same resort, but 2 resorts are better than nothing :)
