What on earth has Disney management done to the parks? I cannot fathom spring break causing consistent days of 75 minute lines for Haunted Mansion.

How has management not been fired? I recall various Disney departments encountering unexpected retirements and RIFs but nothing from the theme park side of operations. There is no reason why the current management overseeing Disney theme parks should still be employed. IIRC, Thomas Staggs is the chairman of Walt Disney Theme Parks and Resorts. Why is he still employed? The majority of us hardliners know the exact solution to these fast pass woes for people eater rides, why does Staggs not know how to resolve these issues.

Without question, any other employees/contractors responsible for the magic bands should also be fired. Just the reality of the situation. Enjoy

:faint:

I actually wouldn't be surprised if someone in Disney management considers that a success. :cool2:

Mr. Staggs is hardly going to be fired when revenues and attendance are at all time highs.

Not to mention, running around shouting "you're fired!" at your employees may play well on TV, but in the real world, it's bad management. And companies that are run like that fail very quickly.

(Personally, the "Spring Break" explanation makes sense to me, considering kids in Florida and many other states were off from school this past week.)

Management is a tough job. I can't presume to guess what any of this looks like from the inside.

I have been going to Disneyworld since 1977 There have always been very long lines during spring break, Easter, 4th of July and Christmas.

75 minutes is nothing new for Spring break. Actually it isn't bad!

75 minutes during SPRING BREAK really isn't all THAT bad, all things considered.

Extremely large companies do not necessarily feel the pain financially until the damage is long done and the rebuilding job vast.

The PR regarding fastpass + have been incredibly negative for obvious reasons. Not many chairman survive such debacles.

I also happen to think weather is playing a part in all of this as well, not JUST FP+. A lot of places up north are STILL getting snow. If that were me, I'd be heading south as fast as possible.

so let me get this straight....you think management should be fired because lots of people are showing up to the theme parks?

excuse me a moment...

:lmao:

Seems like all the wait times are average for Spring Break.

  • Arrive early
  • Tour like a commando from RD until lunch
  • Use your 3 FPs
  • Leave
  • Come back tomorrow
  • Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

It's that simple.

:scared: The good news is I no longer feel silly for booking FP+ next week for my kids' favorite ride, HM.

We were there for spring break last year, when easter was much earlier, and we *never* saw a 75 min line for HM.

you could also come back at like 7 or 8 pm if you're up for a late night, right? Surely lines aren't that bad all the way up til closing?

The... public reception (which is what I think you mean by "PR") has been far from universally negative.

I wouldn't presume to label this a "debacle" at this point, especially without seeing (or understanding!) the quarterly and annual returns.

All I know is that I had a wonderful time last December, and I expect I'll be having an equally wonderful time this upcoming April. I see no reason to believe differently! And the only thing I know of the management side of things is that George Kalogridis is the current president of Walt Disney World Resort and I absolutely adore him for his participation in Disney's "It Gets Better" YouTube message. :flower3: Which I readily acknowledge isn't relevant to the running of the business. It's just warm fuzzies.

stands to be verified that more people are at the parks currently than at the same time last year. "Lots of people showing up" does not mean park attendance increased from years prior during this time of the year. Whereas mishandled congestion and a rising number of complaints will eventually lead to less business.

Can you give some specific examples of the negative PR they're getting from this? Negative opinions of the boards here are one thing but public negative PR I haven't seen too much if anything on personally and I'd be interested to read the articles.

Ok so you blame FP+ for the 75minute HM lines???
I wonder what was to blame a few years ago during spring break when the wait times were 90 minutes???
Get real. At spring break you need to get there early, ride what you can and be prepared for the crowds.

The two highest level execs in IT were let go late last year... they each had over twenty years with Disney. It was after Iger visited and couldn't get into his room using his MagicBand.
