We are taking a family trip to Disney this summer. My mother said she thought she might like to try Tower of Terror. She is 74 and pretty healthy, walks every day and doesn't have heart problems or anything, but that makes me nervous.

I know she is a grown woman and can make her own decisions, but what do you think about that?

Part of the reason we are taking this trip is to try to have something to look forward to after the fairly quick and unexpected death of my father from cancer last month - so maybe that heartbreaking loss is why I am feeling a little over-protective of Mom.

Do people over 70 go on that ride?

I have seen people around your Mom's age ride almost everything including TOT. I think it really up to your Mom. She should be fine. Maybe she want to show she can do most anything & want to ride with her kids & grandkids :goodvibes

I have seen people that age ride everything at Cedar Point. ToT is not a problem as long as she is in good health.

I am about 1o years younger than your mom and have been on a number of times. if she wants and is in the health you say I see no problems

My DH's grandmother age 84 did ToT Mission space green ,TT and loved them all!

My parents both rode it with me on our trip. They are both 70. I didn't even give it second thought.

Thanks for the feedback. I will not try to talk her out of it if she still wants to go on it when we get there. :) The grandkids will be impressed!

My mom will be 73 this year...she goes on RnRRC and I don't. She goes on all kinds of crazy things that I won't.

I'd put money on it that there are ALOT older than 74 that do this attraction.

If your mother is healthy, I say let her go for it! My aunt was 85 when she rode Test Track. She was healthy and quite spry for her age. We were all very impressed and it is a great memory for us.

I thought Geraldo said that 70 is the new 50. I'm 56 and plan on riding ToT when I'm 70.

My mother will be 85 in a few months, and two of her favorite rides at WDW are the Tower of Terror and Test Track.

OP, your mom sounds like she's in good shape so she'll probably be fine.

In 2004 my then 78 yr old mom was with us on our March trip and her idea was to go through the pre show and hit the Chicken Exit. Once we got the elevator she got brave and rode. She blew lunch shortly thereafter and spent the rest of the morning back at the Swan. She's not a wuss, she rode Spl Mtn and enjoyed it, it was the repeated drops that did her in.

My father-in-law was in his 80s the last time he went to Disney with us and roadie everything. He is 92 now and if we took him again, I know he would do the same thing. He says he wants to live until he dies. I love him so much.

My Dad said that 100 is the new 80 yesterday!

OP, I'm glad you aren't going to disuade your mom from doing what she wants. ToT is my favorite ride, I'd hate to not be riding it at 74, if I'm still visiting WDW then.

My grandfather is 100 but he isnt rising ToT,I did however ride Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point with a guy in our train who must have been close to 90.That ride at the time was the worlds tallest and fastest coaster,420 feet tall and 120mph.
