Hi everyone,
I arrive next Saturday at Pop. Its our first time at this resort. I haven't picked a section and I want to request one.

Its me, DH and our two kids (DS7 & DD13). For me and probably DH too, I think the 70's sounds fun because we both spent some of our childhood in the 70's.

What is cool about each that we might consider. Should we look to get as close to Classic Hall or would facing Hourglass lake be better? Is there a better floor to be on? Any help is appreciated.

I also need to figure out when I have to fax Disney. I'm assuming sometime this week.

TIA,

I'd go with the 70s. The 50s is way out there and I would guess from your ages (which I don't know), you would prefer the 70s. I'm 43, husband is 45 and my favorite is the 80s. Mainly because they have those stupid Pac Man things on the buildings and I can't go outside of the room without going "wacka, wacka, wacka". Absolutely do not pass up the chance to see the displays in the lobby here. With your children. If you and your husband don't say "Ohmygod, we had one of those!" at least a half dozen times, I'd be surprised.

As for the floor, I'd go higher - third floor. Mainly because the stairwells are themed to the decade. Nothing finer than going down and up in a Rubik's Cube.

what do you mean 'the 50's are way out there'. Most people say the 50's is the building to get.

I just felt the 50s building (especially the B building) was more isolated. Don't know why but the 70s and 80s building seemed livelier. Yeah, the 50s is next door to Classic Hall but just didn't have the same feel. My opinion only.

MelanieC, which ever building you choose you should call CRO or your t/a and have your request put into the reservations system ASAP. Requests are now downloaded from your original reservation. The resorts no longer grant requests made by fax. They were just getting too many to handle to have time to read and process them all. Just wanted to give you the heads up. Have fun!

I personally like 70's Big Wheel because it's close to the foodcourt/buses. DH and I were both born in the 70's also.

Just got back last week from our 1st visit to the POP. We were in the 70's section by the bigwheel, 3rd floor. We liked it because it was close to the pool, food court, buses. I did walk around to the 50's section and it was, I thought, isolated. But then again that is just us because we prefer to be closer to the "front". I have heard that the 50's is a view of Epcot where you can see Illuminations.

I do agree with the above post to call now with the area you want. Being the summer the resort is full and you may or may not get request since you are going soon.

Either way I am sure you will have a great time. We plan on staying there again. Have a great time! :)

We stayed in the 50's section in April 2004. We LOVED it. We were there with our 6 kids...they were 12,10,7,4,2, and 10mo at the time. We were in the back overlooking the parking lot on the 3rd floor. Not a great view but VERY quiet. It didn't take more than 1 or 2 min to walk to the food court or the Hippy Dippy pool. I have nothing bad to say about Pop or about the 50's section.

We got back from Pop Century about 2 weeks ago and had an absolute wonderful time. We stayed in the 50's hotel facing the lake. We had a fantastic view of Illuminations from EPCOT. I can't say enough good things about it. Some may say that it is too far away from the bus stop but it is less than a 2 minute walk (just cut through the pool area). We walked the whole resort while we were there and none of it was far away from the bus stop so I can't imagine why people would say that but they have. So I guess I would recommend the 50's hands down.

I also grew up in the 70's and honestly, I had enough of it then and didn't want to do it again. I was kind of hoping for the 80's or 90's but I loved the 50's.
