I was just checking other airlines for Pres Week while I wait for SWA. From BDL to MCO that week, Song went from $299 one way/$113 one way
to $349 one way!

Are they crazy!! I can't imagine spending that x 4 to go to Florida. Has anyone ever really paid that?

Just curious

February school vacation from the Northeast is NOTORIOUSLY expensive. You can certainly roll the dice and take your chances that it will come down again, but no guarantees. We're paying ~$280 for a BOS-MCO/RSW-BOS trip (Disney for 5 days, then Bonita Springs for 6) and I paid a little too much for the tickets from Ft Myers home, but the pickings for non stop out of Ft Myers are a little slim.

I'm hoping that JetBlue drops theirs a bit, when SWA releases February, but if not, that'll be OK too.

Wow
I thought paying $400 was a bit much but I guess I'll be lucky to get that now.

Last year for the same time, I remember checking SWA and within an hour of me checking, the rates came out and all but the most expensive ones were taken. Within 3 days, those were gone too.

And the SWA waiting continues

Last week, Song had $79. each way out of LGA and JFK forPresidents week.

In the past, I have never had a problem finding airfares from NYC to Orlando for under $100 each way (usually $80 each way). Lately, I have been having trouble finding the same airfares for under $170 each way. Looks like we won't be going to Orlando anytime soon.

Have you checked Song? You can get early November for $155. RT. Last week it was $135. but $155. is still very good. There are many good fares available, just mention that one for an example.

Unfortunately I'm stuck with Pres Week b/c that's when my kids are off. Which is probably why the airlines hike up their fares--if you don't have a choice and you can afford it, you pay. Oh well.

But it does kill me to see people posting about their $49 specials. I'm happy for them, bummed for me!

Check Song a couple of times a day....we needed to fly back MCO-Boston on the Friday of President's week. The cheapest flight I saw was $269 pp one way! I popped in again earlier this week, and the flight was suddenly $79! I booked it on the spot, and it went right back up to $299 two hours later. Since then, the price has moved only a tad (last night it was down to $219). You'll need to check it quite a lot, and don't forget to click on "view seats"; that will tell you how full the plane is. Several flights that weekend are already sold out, and that will only increase demand for the remaining ones.

Good luck!

and I've been checking fares several times a day. All of a sudden last week, Song dropped fares from LGA/MCO to $74/each way for the week going into Easter. Booked them on the spot. They were there for another day and then the outbound went up to $174. So glad I got them when I did. We'll go 4/8 through 4/14 for $165/pp rt.

Now I'm waiting to see if AP rates come out for that week. I'll book AAA rate and decide if I want to switch to AP or buy the meal plan.

Keep checking all day. You never know when a fare will pop up.

I was looking around and found that jetblue was 79.00 oneway and the next day it went up to 89.00 so I book it. I am leaving from JFK, traveling on Tues. seem to be cheaper. Taking my children out of school for three days just so we could fly. We really wanted to leave the next week but too much money for 5 of us. DH wanted to drive I wasn't too crazy about driving with three children.{14,10,8} 2 hours is better then 2 days it would take from Long Island to Orlando. Try Jet Blue they are great to fly, I wouldn't fly anyone else, tried and had very bad trip. :earsboy: :earsgirl: ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

We paid 400/rt pp because DH wouldn't commit to the trip earlier. I was very angry with him for a long time after that, and from then on, we have booked our airfare at least 6 months in advance. We flew Jetblue that year, as it was the cheapest. This year, we are flying out the Fri of Columbus Day weekend. I booked with Song in Feb, at 135/rt pp. This is the lowest airfare I have ever gotten to WDW....ever...now if only the rental car/resort prices will follow suit.....
