Just wondering how the Hulk, Spiderman coasters are compared to Space Mountain, Aerosmith Rockin Coaster at WDW with regards to a 7 yr old boy.
He was able to do the Aerosmith and Space mountain, so would he be ok on the ones at universal or are these a little more intense?

Spiderman is not a coaster, the ride is comparable to Dinosaur, but instead of animatronics you are watching 3D animation. My DD has been riding it since she was 4.

Hul is very comparable to RnR. To me is is less intense because it is outside/in the light

Just did Spiderman several times with my DNeph (7) - he loved it !!! I do think Hulk is much more intense than RNRC because there are many more inversions/twists - and be aware the height requirement for Hulk is 54" - my little guy just cleared 48" and made it on the Mummy for the first time - he said he loved it, but didn't want to ride again ! ;)

My seven year old nephew is tall and recently had his first rides on the Hulk, Dueling Dragons, and the Mummy. He loved them all. It depends on the child. I think Hulk is VERY intenese. I've been with people who were as green as the Hulk when they got off that ride!

In my opinion, RnRc was very jerky, unsmooth and uncomfortable. I found that for most of the ride I was struggling to keep my head still and try not to suffer from whiplash. For a child, I don't know what it would be like. On the flipside, the Hulk was smoother, and outside, which for me, was also a plus to this ride. But, I did see some unhappy children (and very happy too) come off of both rides.
Just my opinion.

I think he'd love Spiderman...maybe let him know there is a drop at the end which isn't real, it only seems real. Its pretty amazing, I don't think knowing would ruin it for him. The Hulk? hmmmm. I found it quite intense but its my kids favorite ride. I agree, it depends on the kid, you may get a better feel for it once you and he actually see the ride in action.

Travel channel has a good special on behind the scenes that shows Spiderman. DD watched it and it really helped her understand that the drop is simulated.

He may be boarderline on the height requirement.
At 8, he'll definately go on the rides and enjoy them. If you want to download my onride videos and take a ride on Hulk, go here.

If he's scared to go, don't worry about it. My daughter was scared to go on Doom Drop, but did it later in the day.

Well the 54" height requirement has cut out the Hulk coaster, I'm sure he'll be ok on the spiderman, thanks for the links, I'll show them to him.

My 10 yr old Ds just got to ride the hulk and dueling dragons for the first time in April and he loved them. He was doing spiderman for years though. Spiderman, IMHO is the best ride ever.

I never had a good ride on Hulk... more often than not, I ended up smashing my head on the restraints as bad as the local, old Six Flags coasters.... They just can't maintain it right! Its not supposed to rattle and shake in the turns... cause unlike RnRC, the wheels on Hulk got springs to keep them in contact with the track, but seems like the springs are shot and they don't replace them. Want to ride what its supposed to be like? Go at Sea World and ride Kraken!

I love Kraken, but I've never hadf a bad/rough ride on Hulk. Now if you reall ywant to bang your head into the restrains try Ninja at Six Flags over GA. I use to love that coaster, but it is so rough now that I can't ride it anymore.

Could someone explain to me what the drop is? I dont' ride rollercoasters, (the kids love them)...I hate that feeling of falling. Is this more of a "virtual reality ride" like "Back to the Future"...I've found with those, if you get uncomfortable, you can close your eyes. I can handle these ok....so is the drop not real??

Basically you are in a simulator that runs along a flat track. The drop is not real.

That's exactly what you can do on Spiderman. If you close your eyes you will not feel the drop. It's a great ride. The "drop" is wonderful. Keep riding it until you can handle it!!
