Hi There, Dis WISHers!

Memorial Day Weekend is 7 weeks away! Can you believe it?!:beach:

I have created a contest chart to countdown the days, and I'm inviting you to join me!

The chart is structured in a weekly format with 19 possible points per day. I think it could work with just about any diet/exercise program. To participate you will need to print out one chart per week.

The point breakdown is:
3 - 3 healthy meals (protein and produce for me, or whatever meats your requirements)
4 - 4 servings vegetables
3 - 3 servings fruits
1 - 1 serving nuts/seeds (25 almonds, 28 pistachios, 14 walnut halves)
4 - 8 cups of water (1 point for 2 cups, 2 for 4 cups...)
4 - 60 minutes of exercise (1 point per 15 minutes of your exercise of choice)

The thought behind the points is that if you eat these things, you will not have room for others, so there is more of a focus on "What are you doing right?" instead of "What are you doing wrong?" However, there is a spot for negative points. Negative points could be for more than one alcoholic beverage, more than one treat, or whatever you choose. (Or you could choose not to focus on the negative at all.)

My boyfriend, Mike, and I are planning to compete. Does anybody have any ideas for how this could be a DIS competition? Otherwise, I would just love to have a group to check in with!:cheer2:

I'll post a picture of the chart, and if that doesn't work for printing, please let me know and I'll email you a copy of the PDF.

P.S. I don't think I've ever posted a photo on the DIS. I hope I did it right! I tried to resize it smaller, but I don't think it worked, so I hope it's not too big!

Twingle - I hope you'll join me!

I thought about it, and one way that I could make it DIS friendly is to have people set a points goal each week, and we can keep an accountability thread. Something to that extent...???

If somebody needs me to do some "tweaking" to make the chart fit their program, please let me know and I'll see what I can do!:wizard:

Happy WISHing!
Ashley

Great idea! Not sure yet if I' m in but I'm definitely thinking about it.

Just a few ideas.... The nuts would be an issue for me...I know they are healthy but they are far too caloric for me to eat every day. And it could be an issue for someone with allergies.

Also, I eat more veggies than fruit, so maybe making it a total of 7-9 serving of produce with a minimum of at least 3 being vegetable?

Don't forget that your idea of a "healthy" meal and someone elses might really be different.

Just thinking out loud here. Thanks for taking the time to share this!.......P

I'm definately in - I'm a WW member, so I'd love it if you could do some tweaks for me :D I'd love an accountability thread - right now my goal is to lose 1 pound per week, track at least 5 times per week, and exercise 6 times per week, but I need to think about how I'm going to accomplish that! Have to make a plan, or I'm planning to fail, kwim?

Thanks again for sharing - I think it's a great idea!

Count me in too! The plan seems really manageable, and I love the idea of printing off the chart. I can stick it on my mirror as a reminder of what I am supposed to be doing each day. Accountability is always nice, too. :)

I've never done a challenge like this before - is the goal to get the most points possible each day by eating the foods that carry the most amount of points and exercising, etc?

I am so sorry! I was all excited and then this week I just haven't had time to update the chart and get it out to you. So it will be a six week countdown and I'll make the new charts (hopefully!) tomorrow for those who have requested a few changes. If you PM me your email address, I will send it to you that way -- easier than posting the picture and probably easier to print, too.

So, we get to make the rules for our challenge. We can compete amongst ourselves or rally each other on to reach our daily goals. We can keep track on here of where everybody is in their goals... Maybe check in at the beginning/end of each week with the goal and how you did on it, then set a new goal for the new week? Daily check ins are fine, too, and might be what I need.

After trying it this week, I love how full I am after I eat all that good stuff! I try to make myself have nothing but the requirements until the requirements are met... Keeps me away from those nutritionally void carbs! It feels more "lifestyle" than challenge or diet, if you know what I mean?

I'm glad that there are some people here to join me, and I hope you haven't given up hope in me after I took so long!

Let's rally and get ready for summer!

I think this looks really good and I like that you're focusing on the "what am I doing RIGHT" versus the more negative approach that I usually tend to take...

I would like to participate....not so much one for competition but for accountability....

Let me know what you need from me if you need help or whatever...I like your chart a lot.

Thanks
Brooke
