Booking through USRentACar and both Alamo and Dollar are similar prices ~£500 for three weeks for a 7 seater 4x4.

Both say Dodge Durango or similar on USRAC site and both say Durango on their respective wesites.

I've used both Alamo and Dollar in the past so who would you go with, what are the vehicles they actually have at MCO and who would you recommend?

I know there have been other threads but keen to get the current view?

PS will I fit 3 adults and 2 child seats (with children) in a durango with room for 4 large suitcases and mega pushchair?

Dollar definatly have Durangos at MCO as we were offered one when they didn't have our choosen car but we decided it was overkill for 2 adults and went for a Jeep instead :rotfl2:

They had at least a couple that we walked past on the way to our car so you would be ok with them and yes you should all fit as the back row of seats fold to help you get your luggage in!

We have hired premium 4x4's (Durangos) from Dollar on a couple of occassions and have booked one again for our next trip !

You should be aware that although the Durango is the most common 4x4 7 seater in their fleet, they do have other makes of vehicle in the same class - however they will all be of a similar standard - you can always request a Durango at the hire desk if that is the vehicle you really want.

Durangos have loads of room and should easily accommodate all of your passengers with luggage when the rear seats are folded down.

The car is really nice to drive, is very comfortable and has loads of 'gadgets' to mess with - the only downside is that it is a bit too thirsty on juice !!!

If you book with Dollar you can join up with Dollar Express which will speed up the process of collecting your car at the airport.

Hope this helps !

Just back, saw this thread and thought I'd share our experience with Alamo .............

Booked a full size SUV through USrentacar, on arrival at the MCO Alamo desk, was shown a picture of a fairly small jeep and offered an H3 Hummer as an alternative for $29/day plus taxes. Took the upgrade to the H3 but asked "how much to upgrade to the Durango" which was also shown on their display card ... the guy replied "we haven't got any of those".

Had the H3 hummer for a couple of days, most unimpressed really and quite a let down, checked the paperwork .... with taxes, airport charges which should have been included with the gold package! and 17 days rental it was actually going to cost us nearly £300 extra :confused3 .... an awful lot of money, better spent at the Premium Outlets:rotfl2:

Decided to return the H3 to MCO (hubby's a serious petrol head and he didn't like it either), requested the class we had booked and guess what ....

the only full size SUV Alamo had available was a fantastic Jeep Commander with full leather, Sirius entertainment system with HDD for your Ipod, reversing camera and loads more extras .... it really was fabulous and we were much happier with this car.

So .... basically ..... be sure you get the class of vehicle you've booked and make sure you don't get talked into paying for an upgrade purely because the class of vehicle you've booked isn't available at that time.

Thanks for the replies, we booked the Dollar Full Size in the end just because they at least had them. I like Alamo but don't want to mess about after a 9 hour flight with kids!

Cheers, I'll post back what I get but it's not until May :lmao:
