7 Pounds in 7 Weeks - Second Week Update!!

I have not read the entire thread but there are some great tips. Drinks lots of water and have salads with just oil and vinegar and fruits. A teaspoon of olive oil is usually plenty for a salad.

I have been struggling to loose some weight. I have had success with weight watchers and a "diabetic" diet. I was on the diabetic diet when I was pregnant and had gestational diabetes. It is basically a low fat, lower carb and six small meals a day.

I am currently on a no iodine diet since I am preparing for a radioactive iodine treatment for thyroid cancer. I thought it would be hard but it is a pretty "clean" diet which I think is good and easy to understand.

Clean diets are basically no processed foods and things that are minimally prepared (natural foods).

Good luck!

She does understand it, but because they make it and have their name on it, she doesn't agree with it. She advises eating only non processed food, and advised to stay away from all the FF stuff. Lie I said, it works for some, but not for me. I do understand that people love it, but for me, it doesn't work. I get way to HUNGRY. I am not very pleasant to be around when hungry.

I haven't been a WW fan because I felt like their last points plan encourage eating processed "empty" foods. People I know were filling themselves up with sugar-free jello and those 100 calorie snack packs all day trying to get the most food in for the least amount of points.

I realize that this was NOT WW's intention but it is the reality of it for many people.

The way they've restructured their points system (Points Plus+), all the point values are different and you actually get penalized for eating "empty" calories it seems. My friend has had to rethink/revamp all her foods on this new program and she agrees that she is eating much more balanced/wholesome food on the new program.

Oh, another change I made that I think has helped - I got a new bathroom scale that measures in 0.2 lbs. It is much more encouraging to watch your weight loss crawl along at x.8 lbs, x.6, x.4....

Also my 3 year old DD has eaten all my Greek yogurt!!!

I'm having sugar cravings tonight.

We often have some sort of dessert. I've not had anything like that since Monday. I drank my last 12oz can of pepsi with lunch today and have a 6 pack of 8oz cans in the fridge for the next week.

This weekend will be tough. We tend to go out and about on the weekends and eat out at least once.

Still need to find the time to key in my foods to track calories.

We always go out AT LEAST once on the weekends :-/

I also have a major sweet tooth. I'm used to an after dinner brownie, cookie, ice cream, something....Well instead I still allow myself a treat every once in a while, but I have started drinking a glass of chocolate soy milk or vanilla Greek yogurt and strawberries when the need for something sweet strikes me. I found chocolate Greek yogurt at Publix tonight, so I am about to try one. I also eat chocolate and peanut butter Luna Protein bars for breakfast or lunch sometimes, and they are really good.

Nearly the end of my first week - didn't stray too far off what I had wanted to do.

Did go out to eat yesterday and, frankly, binged a bit on soda. :guilty:

Went for long walks with the dog 3 days this week - decent weather days. Hopefully I'll have more nice days in the coming month. Need to get my legs trained for Disney.

Pants felt looser this morning but I'm waiting until tomorrow to weigh myself.

This coming week should be ok for continuing my goal. The week after (1st week of March) will be harder - gonna be 'that time o da month' and I always feel crappy for 2 days. Tend to reach for chocolate and be lazy.

2 pounds! The scale says I've lost 2 pounds!

Yay me! Talk about incentive to keep it going! Maybe I can make it to more than 7 pounds by the time we leave!

Celebrate with me :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Congrats:thumbsup2 That's an awesome weight loss for the week!!!

I always struggle with my weight, a real yo-yo dieter, losing and gaining 30# over and over again:laughing: so I can't really say anything works for me for a long time but...

Last summer DD13 decided she wanted to lose weight and we did WW together. I only lasted about 3 weeks and lost 8# but she continued for about 12 weeks and lost a total of 23# and has kept every pound off now for more than 6 months:thumbsup2 In fact, I'm concerned that she continues to lose 1-2#/month and we're going to relook at her caloric intake.

The one thing we noticed about her diet was how much sugar she had been eating. Once she cut out those three glasses of juice (usually cranberry), putting ketchup on nearly everything she ate, and dousing her waffles every morning in a huge amount of maple syrup the weight starting falling off. She didn't really need to stick to the point system, by eliminating these sugars from her diet she lost the weight (and learned how to eat much healthier as well).

I think if you stop the soda you will see weight lose just from that alone:) I'm not much for sugar and we don't eat white bread, flour, etc. but its my weekly intake of wine that kills my diet. I love socializing with my friends with appetizers and chardonnay and in order to lose weight I can't do that.

That's great! I thought I was doing well, but then Saturday and Sunday I completely blew it, and I'm +1.2 from last Monday :-( I'm kinda hoping it's just water weight.....but I know it's due to dinner at Pei Wei last night with my BFF!

Wonderful that your daughter lost weight in a healthy way.

Make sure that you exercise too! That will help you keep the weight off. And I agree- cut ALL soda out completely. It is very bad for you.

I understand. It's so hard on the weekends because we are out and about - sometimes even the best choice out isn't really good for you.

I have to say that although I am craving sugar, I've only had one headache since trying to cut out soda.

I'm still having one 8oz can per day but that'll be gone by this weekend.

Fell a bit off the wagon today. Got invited out to lunch - at a buffet!

Ate more than I should, but limited my soda intake to one glass - which was probably more than 8oz.

*sigh*

back at it tomorrow, I guess.

Oh, and I bought a digital scale. Going to restart tracking my weight in the morning.

Congrats on your first week! :thumbsup2

I am joining this thread as I've gained 25 lbs. this year and we are leaving for Disney in 4 weeks. I usually start working out a lot at the beginning of the year but have gotten a late start this year. Better late than never.

I'm reading my South Beach diet book again and would love to lose 2 lbs. per week.

Well the digital scale this morning says I weigh 152.8 so that's going to be my new starting point for the next 6 weeks.

Today it's been raining since I got up this morning, so no walking for me. Dog is going a bit stir crazy here ....

Ok, so I was lamenting about having a horrible weigh-in Monday morning....then by noon the stomach flu hit me. Today I am over it and perfectly healthy again and for a bonus I lost 4 lbs :-) I officially weigh-in on Fridays and Mondays, so I'll wait to see how tomorrow compares to last Friday.

I lost 8 pounds since Jan 1st. I have been using www.Livestrong.com/myplate for a very long time. It's great & FREE! Let's you track calories from eating and working out. Also for a few bucks you can get a mobile app that syncs up with it. Consider trying that before weight watchers or any other expensive program.

I used to be a real advocate for weight watchers until I realized they don't focus on nutrition, but just points and making money off their over-processed foods. They also don't focus very much on exercise. You get "points" for exercise, but they don't' make it a priority. Finally, I felt that weight watchers was just a bunch of fat women in a room whining about how they can't lose weight. Got really frustrating after a while.

This also is going to sound goofy, but it works. I've been religiously watching Dr. Oz since the beginning of the year and think to myself: What would Dr. Oz think of this? If you watch his show he provides lots of good healthy tips and weight loss ideas.

Also, think to yourself: "Do I want to eat this, or do I want to look great for my trip?"

I had that happen to me once and was so excited to lose the weight - isn't it awful how we are sometimes "thankful" for the flu. :lmao: Us, poor dieting women are a sad bunch aren't we? :rotfl2:
