We want to go on our 1st cruise ever next fall but cant decide if we should go on Eastern or Western 7 day. Please give us your opinions, especially those who have done both. Thanks!

we did the eastern magic in Sept 01 and the western magic on 8/31/02 and thought the western was a much nicer itinerary. I didnt care for St Maarten - dirty, poor - IMHO only good for cheap booze and jewelry - Loved St thomas & St John though.

On the western we LOVED Grand Cayman and thought Cozumel was really cool too - we booked a second western cruise while still on board.

Just my opinion though

i like both routes. For eastern, there are much better shopping deals, and for western the water sports are better in my opinion.

Anyone else have any opinions on the two? We are doing the Western this October, and next year we are debating on the Western again (better week for us) or the Eastern. I too am interested in all opinions on this from those who have done both.

I've only done the Eastern so far and I kind of think I will prefer it to the Western.

To me it's more "Caribbean" to visit the Virgin Islands and I personally enjoyed both St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Plus I enjoy the extra day at sea.

Maybe I'll change my mind after my December Western cruise but I'm really thinking that Eastern will be my favorite. :)
