7 month window question

Okay, so we are submitting our docs and deposit this weekend on a contract. It has most of its 2017 points and all 2018. But it is missing JUST enough that we can't stay in a 2 bedroom at our home resort (SSR) the full length of time we want.

BUT we do have enough points to stay at at value 2 bedroom at AKL. We would be staying the last week in January, 2018. Is it likely to hope to be able to secure a value 2 bedroom, or had I better just plan on shortening our vacation a bit?

There will be 6-9 of us, so unfortunately a 1 bdrm or studio is out of the question.

You can buy 24 one time use points a year at the 7 month mark. Would that give you enough points to make your stay? I believe they cost $15 per point.

We would actually need 29. I could make a separate reservation through another DVC member and then link, but with the cost of the contract, I don't want to add more cost for the vacation this year.

Right, but the odds on a Value 2BR being available at 7 months is extremely slim.
