The last I was paying attention to non-home resort booking there was a change in the 7 month booking window about booking 7 months out for your entire trip on the day of your arrival (if I remember correctly).

The big debate was the whole "rolling" of a reservation and such. Is this still an issue? Has anything changed regarding the booking policy for non-home resort at 7 months?

A little bit of detail and updated information would be helpful... Thanks

As far as I remember at the 7 month mark you can book you week stay the night of arrival. You don't have to wait for the last day to come within the booking window.....

I think you can book 10 consecutive days (same resort / room). If you need more days, you have to all in each day after to add a day.

In my experience its 7 months from checkin day plus up to 10 nights

You are thinking of dining reservations. At the DVC 11 or 7 month window, you can book check-in plus 7 days. If you need more, you will have to either wait the extra days or call the next days to add.

From the guidelines:

Home Resort Priority Period
1) From eleven (11) months through and including eight (8) months in advance of their desired check in day, plus up to seven (7) consecutive days after the desired check in day, Club Members have exclusive access to reservations at their Home Resort. During the Home Resort Priority Period, only Club Members who have Ownership Interests at the Home Resort and who are using Home Resort Vacation Points will be able to request reservations at their Home Resort.
2) Members who wish to reserve Vacation Homes at other DVC Resorts may begin requesting reservations seven (7) months in advance of their desired check in day, plus up to seven (7) consecutive days after the desired check in day. During this period, all Club Members will be able to request reservations at all DVC Resorts.
3) All reservations are on a first-come first-served basis.
4) DVC Operator may increase or decrease the length of the Home Resort Priority Period; however, the Home Resort Priority Period will never be shorter than one (1) month.

The policy hasn't changed. It's still that you can book seven nights starting with your check in date. And then you can add more days on either day by day or wait a few days and add three days etc.

BTW, at the 11 month mark you also cannot book more than 7 days from your check in date.

Here's what it says in the Home Resort Rules and Regs.

Members who wish to reserve Vacation Homes at other DVC Resorts may begin requesting reservations seven (7) months in advance of their desired check in day, plus up to seven (7) consecutive days after the desired check in day. During this period, all Club Members will be able to request reservations at all DVC Resorts.

Thanks all.

Has anyone noticed or heard of any problems with people "rolling reservations" during popular seasons?

"Walking" a reservation only works at 11 months - not at the 7 month window (if that's what you are referring to...)

You can call 11 months (home resort) or 7 months (others) from date of arrival and get 7 nights; to get more nights, you either need to call later into the 11/7 month window or call a second time some days after the first call and add nights or call daily after first call and keep adding one night per day.

Walking the reservation means you do the following by way of example: you want AKV concierge Dec 25 to Jan 1; you call Jan 19, 11 months out, and reserve Dec 19 to 26, thus giving you the night of Dec 25; you call next day and cancel night of Dec 19 and add night of Dec 26; do drop and add daily until you have Dec 25 to Jan 1. Thus, you are reserving ahead of those who call exactly 11 months out on Jan 25 for the same 7 night period.

Is walking necessary? No for almost any reservation, but my example gives one of the small number of reservations for which it might be necessary: for AKV concierge (for which there are only five 2BR lock-offs) during Christmas week. Walking has less although not non-existent value at 7 months mainly because if you are going to be blocked out if you call exactly 7 months out, it is usually because what you want has been taken within the 11 month booking window by the resort's owners.
