Hi - I was wondering if someone has the link for the chart that shows probable availability for 2 bedroom villas at different resorts for different times of the year. I'm particularly looking for the first half of December.
Thanks!

Yes, people walk early December on. I never have. I have only booked early December once and it was 12 years ago and had no issues. This year, I tried for early Dec. 2025 and could not get the dates I wanted - my 11 month window/day one. I was flexible and managed some dates. You might have better luck with a 2BDR. Good luck!

That's crazy that you couldn't book what you wanted at 11 months! We own VB and HH points, so I have never been able to book at 11 months at WDW.
I guess we may have to look to January, which is okay, too. I won't be walking since I need 2 2-bedrooms and will need to call MS.

Thanks for all the replies!

Yeah, first 2 weeks of December are tough even at 11 months, that’s been our go to time to visit but I’ve never walked to get our reservations - w/ a Dec. use year I can’t really, but I do book the second my 11 month window opens.
We’re actually trying out other times to visit in 25/26 because it’s gotten more & more crowded. Locals are getting in visits before the AP blockout days kick in, MK closes early every other day for the Christmas parties so it’s really packed on the nights it’s open, & no EMH evening hours for MK, they’ve started up Christmas parties at DHS too - so, as much as we love the Christmas decor, we’re experimenting to find a less frenetic time to visit. This year we tried early Jan. which was ok, still crowded, but we got to see the Christmas decorations before they came down & enjoyed an EMH evening at MK.

The lockoffs go first, so I would try for a resort with dedicated 2BRs. (We always preferred those anyway). (The lockoffs go fast because the studio portion gets booked up, leaving the one BRs.) We own at Boulder Ridge, so we book at 11 months, usually one bedrooms now though.

If I was to walk a reservation, how would I do that?

You book a room with a start date sooner than you want it to start and move it forward.

Say I really want to stay March 15 to 22nd..on April 1st, I book March 1 to 8, and then modify it moving the dates until I’m at the ones I want.

Is there a limit to how many times you can modify a reservation?

Thanks. I didn't think so. I'm hoping that I wouldn't need to modify more than once. :)
Be aware that a 7 month walk is less likely to be successful because anyone w/ home resort booking where you’re walking may have already blocked you or can block you at any point as you walk towards your preferred dates.
There will likely be movement as the 7 month window opens up for early Dec. and folks modify their existing reservations to move elsewhere - if you look at the availability charts linked above by @bluecruiser you’ll notice that the two biggest resorts - SSR & OKV - have very little availability at 11, 10, & 9 months for 2 br.s in early Dec., then things open up at 8, 7 & even 6 months before availability starts to disappear again.

No! The only penalty for changing reservations is within 31 days...then you get holding.....outside of that, DVC offers the flexiblity to change as much as you want.

However, the home resort rules and regulations can be modified by DVC at any time so they do have the ability to add in future penalities if they want to do so...which is how they were able to implement a limit to borrowing after COVID to 50% instead of the 100%....and why they were able to reinstate it after a few years when they felt it was no longer needed.

Thanks! I don't plan to walk - I was just wondering if I modify and then decide to modify to January (or whenever).

Thanks for pointing to that chart - I found that interesting to see how little is available at 11, 10, 9 months and then seeing that it opens for a bit - I didn't really understand how that is possible. I guess that's owners booking at home resort and then switching.
