7 months out can be tougher in busy seasons (which for DVC includes pretty much all of thanksgiving through new years).

probably less of an issue for getting AKV as it is a larger resort. there are very few value and concierge rooms at AKV, but generally AKV is not as tough as smaller resorts like BCV and VWL.

i recommend buying where you want to stay (or at least, where you don't mind staying if everything is booked at 7 months). you will still be able to buy AKV direct or through resale even when the AKV resort officially sells out. (but if you're just happy to be on property, BLT with lower dues might be a great choice for you.)

I would buy where you want to stay the most. If it is soldout direct, you can look at resales. It depends on the room type you are looking for & what time of year. Grand Villas usually book quick, views with limited # of rooms, holiday season.

Since you mentioned AKV, I'll tell you that at 7 months, I was unable to book a value studio for October. But since there aren't many of those and the points for them are low, they are the hard ones to get. However, dumb me didn't think to waitlist (Duh!) until a couple weeks later. Now it's 6 1/2 months, but when I called to be put on the waitlist, I didn't need to be because a studio was available. I kind of wonder if people booked AKV at 11 months, but since it was F&W time, everyone wanted to get over to the Epcot resorts at exactly 7 months. So the first time I called, I suspect my waitlist would have come through very, very quickly-like within a couple hours.;)

I think you will find that AKV will be on sale for quite some time and likely BLT will sell out before it does. When you say you may be buying "soon" you can probably assume that both will still be on sale through most of this year and probably well into next at least for AKV. Being able to book at 7 months depends on what and when you want. AKV is not usually difficult at 7 months but room categories like value and concierge are very often gone long before before 7 months out; also there may be limited to no availability certain times of year such as Christmas week, Easter time or most of December. BLT, on the otherhand, is likely to be more difficult than getting AKV at 7 months out a number of times of year and if you want standard or MK view at BLT it is best to own there and use the 11 month window.
