7 for 4 Can Be Good Deal for APs!

Can those tickets get an upgrade to AP's?

Heck yeah, but use it first. Then you will have the full current gate price of a 7 day ticket applied to your AP v. the cost of a 4 day ticket--create your own discount on the AP!

I would totally do that if I needed new APs but our current APs will get us through 2009 and then I'm sitting on other tickets that need upgrading. I'm still considering it, although I booked with 1 day base tickets, but DH is getting sick and tired of me borrowing from one vacation budget for the next. Screws with his budgeting process (always living off what was earned in the month/year prior). But by the time I'd use them it would be 2011, giving me even a bigger deal/discount on APs.

okay, i can't believe they don't let you upgrade more than 1 base ticket to an AP. We also have tickets leftover from a FD trip they we were planning on upgrading plus the ones we had to purchase for the new deal! i'm going to take all of my tickets anyways just to see if anything magical will happen!:wizard:

So using them first changes their value? :confused3

Yup. Just know in advance what you should be paying (difference of the 7 day ticket to the AP) to make sure the CM bridge's the amount.

I just did this two weeks ago.

I had posted my numbers on another thread that is running. With my previous post, i think i will wait and see what AP code comes out for the spring time. This 4/3 plan doesnt work very well for me since i go solo, and only stay at Pop. Plus not sure if i'm wanting to stay 7 nights either.... And i really hate the idea of buying a MYW ticket, and having to hold on to it for a year at $80 bucks!! And i have done the dining plan in the past, but i'm just finding it's to much food, and there are times that i just really dont want to eat... i just want to snack around. So this trip i'm taking in Dec will be the first time i'm not participating in a plan, and if all goes well, i will do the same for my May trip!!

So to the numbers!!

Ok, so i was running some numbers... (i'm a solo traveler, soon to be AP holder) Trip Dates 5/10-5/17 (these numbers are run w/o dining plan)

For Pop:
- no codes rack rate for 7 nights runs $849
- 4 nights, 3 free for 7 nights with 1 day ticket $623
Savings of $226 - but if you divide that by 7, it comes out to $89 a night, really $80 + tax)

This is where its gets confusing... can you tell i like to run numbers?
Then saying there is a AP Rate $74 +tax (83.25) w/weekends being $10 more= 7 nights $605. Take the 4/3 cost of $623-$80 for the MYW pass= $543.

Now dividing: (numbers include tax)
Proposed AP Discount - $605/7 nights = avg night stay $86.42
Current 4/3 Discount -$543/7 nights = avg night stay $77.57 = $8.85 night difference... (now running all these numbers now i'm getting my self confused!!)

Question is do you think a code would come out that would beat the $80 a night? I think i found my answer!! YES! and i dont have to buy the extra MYW ticket!
_____________
Just ran POFQ numbers for fun, its my favorite place to stay but as a solist its too expensive.

for POFQ,
for POFQ, no codes rack rate for 7 nights runs $1361
for POFQ, 4 nights, 3 free for 7 nights with 1 day ticket $958

Savings of $403 - but if you divide that by 7, it comes out to $136 a night w/tax

Just to make sure I'm understanding this ...

Our AP's are up for renewal at during our spring vacation. Can I book the deal with 1-days (there are three of us) and then two days later renew my AP and apply the (unused) 1-days to the AP renewal? If so, this is worth doing especially since the $200 ends just as we arrive.

Thanks.

I don't know about y'all but I'm seeing a trend here...basically the same cost each year just about! Thanks for finding this info! I was really curious! I actually had calculated based on the current discount and came up w/ 75 per night so I was pretty close!

my husband is currently an a/p holder. My girls (2) and I plan on purchasing our a/p when we arrive in feb.

If I book the 4/3 plan and purchase just 1 day base ticket (4 total) no hopper no expiration can I use those tickets toward the 3 a/p?

thank you
Chris

Yes, but only 1 per AP (so if I'm reading your post correctly, you'll still have one 1-day base left that you can upgrade in the future).

But if you are doing this....then you will end up witha slightly better deal if you get the promo 7 day tickets and use them the first day to get into the park (to get the value of the tickets instead of the price you paid).

It won't be a huge savings, since the three free days are only worth about $9 per ticket, but it is something.

Unfortunately you can only use one of those one day MYW tickets to upgrade each Annual Pass (I have quite a few of them that I've had to buy in order to get the DDP over the last few years:rolleyes1 ). They've only ever let me trade one in at a time. I went ahead and booked the 4/3 offer at POP, but will cancel it if a better AP offer comes out. I believe last year the AP discounts were offered around February, if I'm not mistaken.

When I tried to book over the phone the CM insisted this offer required length of stay tickets, but if you go online you only have to buy one day tickets. You must go through the special offer section to get the room discount though.

Do they give you the value of a one day pass at the time you received it or what they are running when you get the upgrade to AP? Also, can I upgrade the 1 day to an AP voucher or will I have to wait until the next time we are ready to use an AP to purchase/upgrade? How much do AP's go up in price per year approximately? Are the Planet Hollywood food vouchers good lunch and dinner and can you make ressies there?

On another site they told me I can't book the offer and purchase only a 1 day ticket, then use that toward my DVC AP, because it is only good when booking a non discounted room and ticket package. I would be booking a non discounted room and ticket package, just using the 1 day ticket toward an upgrade of DVC AP, would that work??? and since I would be going during my birthday, could I also use that toward my DVC AP? And the $200 gift card?

Also, I was looking at the Poly, and even if a 40% off discount comes out, I think this is a better deal. For my dates, rack rate was $3800+, with 40% off it would be $2300, with no ticket included. This offer with a 1 day ticket is $2344 (for 2 adults), plus you get a $200 gift card when traveling my dates. I don't think I'll find a better deal for the Poly, does anyone here think I could?

Also, if I cancel more thatn 46 days out, will I get the full $200 refund back?

Help...I am so confused over this ticket thing:scared1: I booked 7 nights at the Poly for June online. The package came with the 8 day water hooper tickets. I thought that was part of the deal so I went with it. My husband and I have DVC AP that we can still use for this June vacation, but my three boys need tickets. What are my ticket options? Can my husband and I just save our tickets and use them towards our DVC AP renewal or do we just save the tickets for another visit...or do I change the tickets to a one day base ticket and apply them towards annual passes..? Also, the last time we did a package deal the tickets were connected with our room key. How do we go about using the tickets for a future vacation? Do I take the room key with the unused tickets to Guest Services? :confused3
Sorry this souds so crazy!:scared1:

Thanks for your help. Have a magical day!:wizard:

I have a similar question as Believe!. My DD and I are AP holders, and are thinking of taking a friend with us in May. I've thought that we would just wait to see if an AP rate comes out for our dates, since we'd have to book the pkg. with tix. But since it seems that you can book the pkg. with 1-day base tix, that may be the way to go - my head is swimming with the possibilities!

Help! Should we book the pkg. with 1-day base tix, then upgrade the friend's ticket to an 8-day ticket? What about park hopper option, do we book that with the pkg., or wait and upgrade to 8-day park hoppers with one of the base tix?

This stuff is getting harder and harder! I'm just getting over the intense math I used to determine whether to use the dining plan or DDE card for our January trip, now this. (we can't use this pkg. for our January trip because we have to leave by Jan. 10 - very frustrating!)

Thanks for any input. :teacher:

Do you have 2 girls or are they 2yo (multiples)? If they are 2yo, they won't need tickets. Otherwise, yes, you may upgrade the tickets you purchase to APs. Only one ticket per AP is upgradable, so your DH will still need to sit on a ticket.

However, do not purchase 1 day base tickets. Purchase the 7 day tickets. It's only $9 each, roughly, but that will still give you those free days into your upgrade. Every dollar counts, right? Just be sure to use the tickets first to bring it up to full gate value of a 7 day ticket. If you get dining, have hotel concierge remove the ticket from your room key before doing the upgrade at the park guest services. You have 14 days from first use to upgrade the ticket. Might also be worthwhile just in case (doubtful in this economy) they raise prices again in January.

Another way to get out of purchasing your DH a ticket is to leave him off the reservation (if not getting dining) and then add him upon arrival.
