It was supposed to be an awesome dark ride with awesome animatronics with an exciting, if not too fast, roller coaster.

It was supposed to be like Peter Pan had a kid with Pirates of the Caribbean while riding Thunder Mountain.

It was none of those things. Sure the Dwarfs are kinda cool, but they last like 15 seconds. The roller coaster is lame, there is no real "dark ride" immersion at all. The dwarf scene in the mine is all there is, then you're outside on a kiddie coaster.

This was supposed to be The Big One. We waited 3 years for this. Once the hype dies down you're going to see this as a walk on, kinda like Under The Sea has been once that hype died down.

Yep, although the new Fantasyland LOOKS great, they blew it with these new attractions. Thank God Universal is building new and EXCITING attractions. I now go to Disney for comfort and nostalgia, I go to Universal for thrills and fun.

Old news. We loved it, much cooler than Snow White's scary adventure. Super intro coaster for the little ones, and the not so adventurous. 1st ride great, loved it more each time, awesome in back.

Its been a pretty even mixed bag of people. Some love it and some hate it.

I disagree that its going to be a walk on. I have been there where waits for Barnstormer are 45-90 minutes and this is a better mid level coaster than that. Little Mermaid is a people eater so its going to cycle through the line quicker.

I am going hold judgement until I ride it. I use barnstormer as a starter ride. Its tame enough that it gets my nervous kids to build up to other rides. I would believe this would completely remove barnstormer for me as that starter. I hate using it now because the ride is 45 seconds very little to it.

I loved it, I expected it to be a kid's coaster, I didn't expect a thrill ride. It was actually faster than I expected.

I think there's a much chance of it being a walk-on as Peter Pan.

Link please? I mean, from someone who had any real knowledge of this attraction the last 3+ years while it was being designed and built. Not from armchair Imagineers.

I liked it just fine. Personal expectations are everything. Sounds like you aimed a little too high, raising the bar daily while it was built.

While I have yet to ride it, it's exactly what I expected it to be from what I've seen, if not better. Could have been a little longer, but so be it.

I think the downfall here is how it's being so over-hyped. Guests are expecting something they have never experienced before. As long as you take it for what it is and not listen to much to the hype, it looks great for what it is. The new Fantasyland may have ended up not all too exciting attractions wise, but you really couldn't have asked for much better when it comes to theming and the beautiful immersive surroundings.

I'm with you Mesaboy, I never heard any official source remotely implying it was supposed to be anything but what has turned out to be, an attraction the fits into the FL level of ride. Any hyping was done by Disney fans themselves.

I havent been on it yet, but it seems like most of the disappointment stems from the fact it is a short ride...maybe one more lift hill and dark scene would have helped. But then again if its a kiddie coaster the length is probably just right.

I've never read any of the descriptions used by OP. It seems to me that it is exactly what I have read and seen since it was first announced.
Well, you know what they say about people and opinions. Everyone has one. ;)

This is an excellent write up on 7DMT Disney World!! :thumbsup2 This is how the rest of the world sees the mine train. I am not aware of any other roller coaster with these features. If you are looking for big scary coasters then Cedar Point and Universal is where you'll find a whole bunch of them. What exactly do people want from this coaster???? It's a ride....and a nice one at that!!!!!

The brand-new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, located in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom Park, is a family-style roller coaster in which the cars swing back and forth.

Disney has never been one to rest on its laurels. There’s always a new film, theme park ride, or animated princess popping up.

In Walt Disney World, Florida, a few new attractions have joined the longstanding ones that have been luring families here for more than 40 years.

The biggest newcomer is the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which just opened up Wednesday in Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom (one of four theme parks that make up Disney World). This family-style roller coaster is of course inspired by Disney’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” and features music from the film as well as animated figures of all the characters and forest creatures. The Mine Train’s vehicles are mounted in cradle-like pivots that allow the cars to swing back and forth during the ride.

As with other Disney attractions, waiting on line is part of the Mine Train’s fun: You go downhill, along a stone wall, giving you the feeling of entering a mining cave. And there are interactive games involving jewels that guests can play to pass the time. The coaster itself is fast and thrilling. Indoor portions, which move slower so you can see everything and hear the song “Heigh-Ho,” boast some of Disney’s best animatronics work. Dwarf figures mining the jewels move realistically, and there tons of glowing, multicolored diamonds embedded in the walls.

I always felt it would be something between Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mt and it seems it is. So to me it is a success.

Those that don't like it, that is fine. I just think some had unrealistic expectations for it.

It has officially been open for a week. It isn't "old news".

OP, get ready for the pitchforks and torches.

Same here I thought oh well ok it's for the younger kids but it was faster and more exciting then I thought :goodvibes

I think as we get older, and our kids are grown, we want more more more faster faster faster. I love Disney, as a kid and then as an adult. But now I'M a mom, of a young kid (2yo) and I realize that I DO want more family rides. B/c I'm going to keep coming back (we're DVC) and for now, I pay a heck of a lot of money to just walk around meeting characters. So while you may not have been thrilled by 7DMT, and of course, you're entitled to your opinion, and it makes sense if you were expecting a thrill ride, I am happy that the family options are opening up. I don't like IASW and I want something that moves a bit faster than the Poohs and Peter Pans of the park. So I am looking forward to riding it next month... even if I still can't take my 2yo just yet--she needs another 2 inches. :)

Sorry you didn't like it though. It stinks when you have high expectations that aren't met.

The interactive queue is great and a good model for future attractions and refurbishments of current attractions (although I think Disney needs to change their approach and describe the attraction as beginning where you enter the building). But I've been skeptical about the "swinging" mine cars since seeing the first images of how high above the center of gravity the pivot point is; to keep the cars from being unstable they have to bank the track enough on turns to keep them from swinging. This pretty much negates the feature. The first hand reports I've read here appear to confirm this, everyone reports that they don't notice the cars swinging during the ride.

It was more than what I expected. I didn't join the forum until more recently, so I didn't experience some of the hype some of you felt and which is why some of you are disappointed I assume.

I felt no hype from Disney. Didn't hear much about it, if any at all, outside of the Disney Blog. And as of now, I've only seen two commercials for it on tv. Yesterday and today. It met my expectations and exceeded them.

I expected a family friendly coaster that an entire family can enjoy in the heart of fantasyland (land for kiddie rides) with a few twists and dips but not too fast.

I was surprised at actually how fast it does go. I also thought they did excellent with the amount of space they built it in. It's a fantastic dad to new fantasyland and I enjoyed riding it multiple times.

I also would enjoy having more coasters will loops and straight down drops and other rides where you might not know if you're going to puke afterwards as well..but I wouldn't expect that in new Fantasyland, or in MK at all.

That is a disappointment we had. My friends and I were at D23 in 2011 when they introduced the ride with an animation. When we got there 2 weeks ago and saw the cars on the track, that was the first thing we noticed. Our first ride we got a car in the back and it did seem to have some swing, we were even trying to lean.

The swinging wasn't "omg I might fall out" swinging, but if you pay attention to the cars while your on it, you can see them swinging outward through the turns and in turn feel it. I just think people don't "feel" it because they think it's just the turn itself and not a swinging motion as well.

You are able to rock your car as well. We were in the very last car on one ride through and got the car swinging before one of the drops

We went on it 4 times opening day at RD and with rider swaps. We LOVED it. Smooth and fun. I never once got the impression it was suppose to be more than it was from disney blogs or any official announcements. Everyone else was just speculation. A funny stat DH pointed out was it's too speed is clocked at 34mph http://www.coaster101.com/2014/05/29/magic-kingdoms-seven-dwarfs-mine-train-opens/

And BGTMRR is clocked anywhere from 20-35mph max depending on what site you're looking at. http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/coasters/bigthunder_disneyw

So for thrills I'm sure there's more engineering to it than that regarding drops etc. For my crew it was much improved over BTMRR jerking and we have crowned the 4th mountain as our family favorite.
