Friday, July 25th ~ Liberty Tree Tavern lunch
Our ADRs for lunch were at 12:15, and we were a few minutes late checking in...about 12:25. We got a beeper and were seated within 10 minutes. BTW...they were taking walkups with a 10-15 minute wait.
My kids wanted to know where the characters were, and we had to explain to them that lunch was a little different, and we got to pick off the menu. First was appetizers...
Grumpy opted for the Chicken Noodle Soup...
This looked much heartier than the soup at Brown Derby. I tasted it, though, and it was your standard canned Campbell's. I could tell because the litle cubes of chicken were like dry sawdust...typical of Campbells. But Grumpy liked it and that's what counts!
Once again Superstar chose the carrots and celery with dip...
This time the dip was fine, but she said the celery wasn't ripe.

So she wouldn't eat any of it.
Bashful chose the brown sugar apples...
Now I personally think sugar only adds to the deliciousness of any food, but Bashful had other ideas. She didn't like the idea of brown stuff being on her apples. So we had to replace with a bowl of plain apples...which they happily did. Already we are becoming the problem table.
Now Mr. Picky's favorite food is cheese. Even better if it's breaded and deep fried! So the Tavern Fried Cheese was a natural choice for him.
I tasted this, and it was DELISH! At least, the long pieces were. The little nuggets really had no taste, they were almost like little fried nuggets of tofu. But I know they were a cheese...just really bland. Mr. Picky polished off the ENTIRE plate and gave it 2 enthusiastic thumbs up!
I chose the Soup Kettle of the day, which was basically French Onion...
This was delicious! Again, it was really too hot for soup, but it was the only thing that appealed to me. It was slightly too salty, but otherwise had a great flavor. Loved the gooey cheesy bread on top!
Next came entrees. Bashful and Grumpy both chose the mac and cheese.
Superstar decided she was in the mood for pizza.
One bite and she made a terrible face, spouting out her new favorite word, "Nasty!" She really disliked it for whatever reason. The server happened to witness her little episode and immediately whisked it away and offered her whatever she wanted...which was mac and cheese. It arrived very quickly and everyone was happy. Gotta love that amazing Disney service!
Mr. Picky chose Pilgrims' Feast - traditional roast turkey with herb bread dressing, mashed potatoes and a garden vegetable..
This was an exact repeat of dinner the other night, which Mr. Picky loved so he was quite happy with his choice. This is a good way to taste what dinner at LTT is like, without actually going to dinner.
I chose the Colony Salad - Washington apples, sweet pecans and applewood smoked cheddar and grilled chicken tossed with field greens in honey shallot vinaigrette
This was good. Again, they did a great job of coating the salad with just enough dressing, and not drowning it. It was basically a grilled chicken salad...tasty, but nothing special.
Dessert was last. All 3 girls chose the kids' sundae, which was decorated with red, white and blue sprinkles.
Mr. Picky chose the Three Chocolate Brownie, which was topped with a cherry chambord ice cream.
He said it was good, but not spectacular.
I went for the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake...I mean, anything that says "Ooey Gooey" has to be good, right?
Wow, this did not disappoint!!! It was amazing! If you are at LTT at lunch, you HAVE GOT to try this! It's fantastic!
This was a nice relaxing lunch in the middle of a hot, crowded day at MK. If you are wanting something sit-down, then we would definitely recommend this. You'll get a good meal with a heaping side of air conditioning!
