7 Days at Disney & the MANY Lessons We Learned Along the Way! My Jan 2010 TR

Hooray for a DIS meet!!! Living in Buffalo, we have many Canadian visitors so I'm quite used to the "eh"!!! A sinus infection at WDW is not fun and I feel for you!!!! I should have gone to the urgent care place our first night, but I wanted to tough it out. It took me forever to get rid of my sinus infection too when we got home. It was just awful. Looks like you had a nice morning at AK though. And I too love Epcot at night. It's just so pretty!

DSCN4321.jpg

Yay for a DIS meet! It is so fun to meet people you feel like you "know" already!

Epcot is so beautiful at night! :cloud9:

Agreed! It's the best of the 4 at night!

Love the picture of Emily sunbathing with that hat!! SO cute!

Epcot is my favorite park for so many reasons, not the least of which is how pretty the Spaceship Earth ball looks at night!

Isn't Kim great? When we met in MN I felt like I'd known them forever. Plus we learned a lot about Canada from her DH! For as close as we are to Canada, we don't know much, and it is very different there (politically etc.).

So sorry about your sinus infection - when I go to WDW, I bring a whole pack of sudafed to help my sinuses. I wish my Dr. would give me a preventative antibiotic I could take with me in July!!

I always bring Mucinex with me!! It helps keep the sinus areas draining..gross, I know, but I have to have it.....take Mucinex D,..the one you have to get behind the counter!!Make sure u drink plenty of water with it!!!! Also, get a good nasal spray, like the one with the orange lid...OCEAN brand...they also have one for kids. That really helps me and I suffer from sinus, allergies, all that stuff. If I don't take Mucinex as soon as I feel it coming on, by the 3rd day I have to have an Rx.....try it and see if it helps you.....
A little FYI,....Mucinex dissolves in your blood...not kidneys or stomach like harsher meds, so you can take them every day of vacation and not feel like you are killing yourself to cure something else!!!

Ah! You beat me!!! :lmao: I have to wait for my silly hubby to do his commentary on our TR before I can get to our meet!!! :goodvibes

So Jay caught the "EH" bug did he??? Most non Canadians don't know how to use it properly tho!! Some of my non Canadian friends will be like - "So do you want to go shopping...EH???" NOT correct ;) CORRECT -> "Oooh, That guy is sooo cute, Eh?" ;) Basically, you make a statement and then follow it up with an EH to make it into a question!!!

There - now y'all know how to talk Canadian! :rotfl2:

Love and hugs to and the Fam, Kimmy! Hope you guys are all hangin' in there!!!

Just for the record....I am from Canada and I NEVER say "eh" :rotfl: I think it's just the easterners that say it...:lmao:

I am all caught up with your report! I can't believe that we were in Disney probably the day you left and our vacation looks VERY different. We couldnt swim at all - and it looks so nice and sunny on your trip- I am so jealous!!! We only had one day of sun/blue skies and it was very cold our week!!!

Your family is beautiful. I love all the pics!! I am also so sorry to hear about your FIL.

:( sorry DS did not want to eat any of the yummy food available at Disney--were you surprised by this? At least Em used up most of his credits :thumbsup2 Looks like you had a fun day at AK despite not feeling so hot. Yay for a DIS meet! :) EP at night--looking forward to that again! :goodvibes

Kim(canada)...thanks for that Canadian language lesson!! I have heard people do it wrong like that and it drives me crazy!!!!!

You are quite welcome Shawna!! :goodvibes

I laughed when I read the blog on talking Canadian!

I have practice for a few, and I think I got it now.;)

That Mickey is a hunk of burning love, EH!:thumbsup2

Am I right or what, EH!

VERY WELL DONE!!! :lmao:

Just for the record....I am from Canada and I NEVER say "eh" :rotfl: I think it's just the easterners that say it...:lmao:

Na, you guys out WEST just say "hey" instead of Eh! I have a friend who moved from here to Calgary a few years ago and she lost her "eh" pretty quickly! Now she says "hey" all the time!!

Glad I could provide a little humour and Education on Kim's TR!!! Here is another one - Canadians put U's in their words! Like COLOUR, FAVOURITE, NEIGHBOUR, RUMOUR, HUMOUR, ETC!!! It really bugs me when I am typing out things and I am constantly being prompted to check my spelling because of my Canadian-ness!! ;)

That is true!! I say "hey" ALL the time :rotfl2:

BTW I totally agree with the spell check too!! I am always getting prompted that I am spelling cheque wrong :confused3 I am going to use that Canadian-ness!!

Awesome update! :goodvibes YAY for a DIS/Snowbird Meet!! :cool1:

PB&J - hold the J! :lmao: I have one just the opposite, PB&J - hold the PB! Crazy little boys!! :upsidedow I always take a loaf of bread and little jelly packets when we travel!

What a fun filled day you had -- AK, DIS Meet, CBR swimming, and Epcot! Too bad about the sinus infection. Those are the worst! :sad2:

ken...you are toomuch!!! I did looove that link you sent us...and by the way, I tend to spell some words more the British way. Not sure why...maybe because of the Brontes or Jane Austin!!!! I have always been an excellent speller, but I think words like color, and honor should keep the 'u'...to me that looks more natural...not sure why we don't do it? Oh well.....our tip for the day!:teacher:

You did a lot in a short morning at AK! I think my DS would love the boneyard...I don't know if we should let him know about it because we won't ever be able to get him out of there!

Yay for a dis-meet! Always a good time, even if only for a few minutes!

Sorry you weren't feeling well. Those are never good souvineers to buy.

The pool at CBR looks like fun!

My DS is like yours, and will probably just burn money on the dining plan. We're hoping for free dining, so it won't be too much of a waste. Maybe DD can eat his food instead, he would be overjoyed with a "dining plan" like your DS's! Aren't picky eaters fun?

I've been MIA lately but am back now!

Prayers go out to your FIL and all the family.

Great updates! :thumbsup2 All caught up now!

:lmao: We learned the proper use of "eh" while watching the Olympics! They did a little news segment on it and we were both cracking up.

Thanks for the hugs! Right back atcha! We're hanging in. We've been keeping busy to keep our minds off things.
Oh Kim!! Made me miss Epppppcccooooottt!! I too love it at night....it's amazing! Which is why I love staying at the BC and just walking home at night. I was reading this update and had just got to the comment about the kids loving the Boneyard ~thinking to myself how much my kids love it & as I am looking at the pictures,ds10 recognizes the Boneyard and shouts...OOOHHH!!! I looooove that place~!!!!
Kim(canada)...thanks for that Canadian language lesson!! I have heard people do it wrong like that and it drives me crazy!!!!!
I'd love to stay at BC and walk to Epcot. :cloud9: Someday when I get my DH on board with buying into DVC...:rolleyes1

Yea, a Snowbird meet! :cool1::banana:

Kim, your children are SO cute! I love seeing the joy in their faces. :goodvibes
Thanks! It was wonderful to finally meet a Snowbird in person! :cool1:

I felt so bad for you when I was reading your TR way back when. I kept thinking how awful it must have been to be in Disney with a sinus infection. I found out first hand just how awful it really is. At least mine wasn't in the heat of summer though. That would have been much worse for me.
Yay for a DIS meet! It is so fun to meet people you feel like you "know" already!

Agreed! It's the best of the 4 at night!
Next time I'm heading to White Marsh, we'll have to have a DIS meet of our own! ;)
Love the picture of Emily sunbathing with that hat!! SO cute!

I bought sudafed at WDW but it was the new kind and it didn't do diddlysquat for me.
Kim and Ken are wonderful people! It was great to meet them. :woohoo:

Good to know about Mucinex. It's on my packing list for next time. :thumbsup2

Interesting??? No "eh" for you, eh? :lmao:
I am all caught up with your report! I can't believe that we were in Disney probably the day you left and our vacation looks VERY different. Your family is beautiful. I love all the pics!! I am also so sorry to hear about your FIL.
It was warmest our first few days so I made sure we got in some pool time while it was nice weather. It was chillier towards the end of our week.

Andrew saved us money since Em was under 3 and not on the QSDDP. She ate most of his credits and he ate PB bread. It makes me think twice about the dining plan for any future trips though. She's 3 now and it will be worth it for her but still not for him.
You are quite welcome Shawna!! :goodvibes

Oh my! Thanks Ken! Now we'll all be talking Canadian by the end of day, eh?

What a fun filled day you had -- AK, DIS Meet, CBR swimming, and Epcot! Too bad about the sinus infection. Those are the worst! :sad2:
Too funny that your DS is opposite. One of my little daycare boys is a jelly fan like your DS. I hold the PB for him too. We should travel together next time- I'll bring the PB and you bring the J. We can split the bread. :lmao:

You did a lot in a short morning at AK! I think my DS would love the boneyard...I don't know if we should let him know about it because we won't ever be able to get him out of there!

It's definitely been interesting having such a picky eater on my hands. For his school lunch he alternates between PB bread and dry cereal as his main course. Forget trying anything they offer in the cafeteria! He's probably healthier for it anyway.
I've been MIA lately but am back now!

Prayers go out to your FIL and all the family.

Great updates! :thumbsup2 All caught up now!
Thanks for the prayers. DH and I are trying to keep busy doing what we normally do to keep our minds off things. His Dad is still doing well for now. He's even signed up for a photography class at the community college. I'm glad to see him still enjoying life and not giving up.

I can't believe it but I'm posting an update on our LAST day in Disney.

I have really been missing it lately. I haven't even had any interest in scrapbooking any of the pictures yet. Andrew and Emily talk about it constantly. Andrew was pretending he was on Soarin' while we were outside this morning waiting for the bus. He remembers everything that we flew over. Before bed he talks about which park he wants to go to first on our next trip and which ride he wants to get on first. I think if I knew WHEN we were going again, it would be easier for me to get over my Disney blues. *sigh*

So here goes... Our last full day in Disney. :sad2:

This day almost never happened. :scared1: We had been watching the weather and talking with family at home about a snowstorm that was headed for the east coast. DH and I talked about leaving Thursday night to avoid the bad weather but decided against it. I was so relieved!!!

DAY EIGHT
Friday, January 29th

SOUVENIR DAY!!!!!

Downtown Disney here we come! :woohoo:
DSCN4369.jpg

Andrew had some gift cards burning a hole in his pocket so our first stop was to the Lego Store. :cloud9:
DSCN4370.jpg

He wanted to buy this bad boy but it was over $300 so mom had to say no.
DSCN4373.jpg

Em wanted to take this Lego home. :lmao:
DSCN4372.jpg

Andrew wanted the little minifigures but you can’t buy just the minifigures without buying the expensive Lego sets. So after talking to one of the people that work there, I found out that you can buy the magnets sets and the minifigures are removable. Everyone was happy! :cool1: http://shop.lego.com/ByCategory/Product.aspx?p=852551&cn=282

After Andrew spent all his gift cards, it was Em’s turn. Hi Ho Hi Ho…it’s off to World of Disney we go! princess:
DSCN4376.jpg

She wanted every Princess dress in the store.
DSCN4375.jpg

Instead she settled for these…
DSCN4834.jpg

I had 3 things on my souvie list: the Illuminations CD, a mug and a fridge magnet. I looked for the Illuminations CD but they were all out. I was so bummed. They didn’t have any at DTD or at the CBR and Icompletely forgot to check while we were at Epcot. :headache: Perhaps next trip I’ll get my beloved Illuminations CD. I wouldn’t want to listen to it right now anyway- makes me want to go back too much. Instead I settled for a mug. Andrew helped me pick it out. I make a cup of tea in it everyday.
DSCN4438.jpg

And I bought a fridge magnet to add to my collection.
DSCN4441.jpg

DSCN4440.jpg

Broke, we left DTD and went back to CBR. Had some lunch. Fed some birds before we were told you’re not supposed to do that. :rolleyes1 Oops.
DSCN4377.jpg

Walked around the resort a little.

Once back in our room we took a family vote and the vote was unanimous- we would go to MK for our last afternoon/evening in Disney World.

To Be Continued…

Wow, Kim, I can't believe you're reporting on your last day already! Of course, I'm still doing my last day on my TR from December!
I really like your mug and magnet!
The kids look so cute with their Mickey Rice Krispie treats! I could go for one of those right about now!

I felt so bad for you when I was reading your TR way back when. I kept thinking how awful it must have been to be in Disney with a sinus infection. I found out first hand just how awful it really is. At least mine wasn't in the heat of summer though. That would have been much worse for me.

The heat is what gave me the sinus infection in the first place! I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again this Sept. I've been reading that Sept is even hotter than the summer months! :faint: I'll be bringing lots of sinus meds with me for sure!!

What a great morning at DTD! I could spend days there (especially WOD)! How sad that your TR is coming to an end. I can't wait to read about your last night.

Oh Kim....I looove the picture of Em in front of the dresses!! That little face is toooo precious!!! What a sweet heart! Iagree about the CDs...I want one every trip, but I know if I get it I will become sad listening to it!!
