7 day Western - May 7, 2005???

thanks mommommouse  :goodvibes
its a daily struggle but something i had to do for me! :wave2:

tera do you plan on exercising while on board? i hope to get on the treadmill daily- maybe we could meet and do this together :flower:

Debbie and Teresa...WOW!!!28WOW!!!You both should be so proud of yourselves. I, too, must lose a lot of weight but wasn't smart like you two starting way back. To decide a week before the cruise isn't happening. :confused3 The saving grace is like I said back many weeks ago, no supermodels, please! My DH just lost 25 lbs. by "cutting back". How the heck??? We women must stick together!!!
Anyway, congrats to you both for a job well done.
Oh...guess where I was today? :rolleyes1 Right where I said I wasn't going...to Walmart. I bought a collapsible cooler for the excursions. I read somewhere on the boards that you can order sandwiches from room service and just stick them in the cooler to take ashore. At this point, I'm grasping at straws trying to save money anyway I can. This "all-inclusive" vacation has become one big money-pit. It better pay off!
Does anyone know if they have green tea on the ship? Odd question, I know, but I'm not a coffee drinker and I prefer green over black tea. Obviously, teabags aren't very big so I can easily pack some but you should see my guest room bed!!! No room for a tea bag!!! :rotfl2:
:wave2: Linda

That "28" means nothing. I was trying to put the "WOW" in 28 pt. type. Duh!!!
Linda

Bratray - Thanks! It's been hard work, but I'm finally doing it. 45 pounds is awesome too so you should be proud of yourself. I bought my formal dress a few months ago and hope that it isn't too big now. I wish I would have waited longer before buying it :sad2: I do plan on working out onboard either in the gym or walking around. We'll definitely have to get together and workout.

Thanks Debbie - Does that mean your offering to buy me my first drink?? :earboy2: You'll definitely need to stop by the journals after our trip. That is where I found my inspiration to lose this weight. You'll find great support there.

Linda - *:rotfl: at the 28* I was wondering what was up :rotfl: I know what you mean about the "all-inclusive" vacation costing you and arm and a leg. It's the same with us.

Teresa,
Yes it does mean I'll buy your first drink because you deserve it. Besides I'll be asking you for alot of help after the cruise.

Linda,
Maybe you and I can do it together after the cruise. You'll see what I mean when I say I need to lose alot of weight. I'm going to give it a good try and if not them I'm going to have the surgery.I want to try to do it my self before I do that. By the way it was Bratray that lost the weight, not me ( I wish). :wizard: I packed your swimming neck tote. Don't be afraid to remind me because I have senior moments. :rotfl:

I guess we'll all be busy packing that last minute stuff this weekend. :hourglass

Debbie :wave2:

Hi all :cool1:
Just remember if the teens get out of hand thats why you bring Duct tape with ya :rotfl: I have yet to find anyone in 30 years as a Paramedic an individual who was the tuffest of them all.hehe :goodvibes James

Debbie - You don't have to, but if you insist ;) Just kidding

It does help when you do it with a friend. I'm lucky enough to have several people at my WW meetings that really inspire me to do better. You just need to find that "thing" that works for you. WW is more of a long term thing than some of the other things that are out there. We'll get you started :goodvibes

I can't believe a week from today, we'll be kicking back in our hotel room, counting down the hours till we set sail :boat: :boat: :boat:

Auercat... I'm on the opposite end of that spectrum. Now lets make a list of the LEAST organized!
I'll start:
Only made 1 trip to Walmart
Don't have a formal dress yet
Nothing packed, nothing set aside
Haven't gotten the luggage out of the attic yet
Don't know if my bathing suit still fits
Need a haircut and an airbrush tan, no appt. booked yet.
AND THIS SHOULD PUT ME OVER THE TOP.....
Still haven't found my summer clothes yet. I know they're up there somewhere.

TOP THAT!

Thanks to all of you for the welcome wishes :earsgirl:
I am confident that I fit in well with you all :rotfl:
I am very OCD myself. I even make lists of what I pack...then I go back in the suitcase to make sure it didn't meander out somehow on its own, and it's still there! Walmart has become a regular stop for us as well. It's amazing how these last minute odd and ends could purchase another cruise, in and of itself!
My dh isn't necessarily "grumpy" but not quite the Tigger type like me :rotfl2: I guess men just don't see the excitement as we do?....EXCEPT (of course) for you guys, James and Harris  He'll just never understand all the dynamics of packing for 6 people, nor the need for my obsessiveness in being anal :rotfl2: You all are freaking me out that you're packed already. If I am ready by next Sat it will be a miracle  And yep...I need a clean house to come home to too! You never know....the boat could sink, or we could be stranded on CC forever. THEN...everyone would know what a terrible housekeeper I was :guilty: God, I am crazy! Great chatting with you all. You have lifted my stressed spirit since I started reading this thread :grouphug:

Welcome Susie,
I'm glad to see another Floridan in our group. Love the name. :rotf

Yeah...and here I thought I was being original when I thought up the name :smooth:

Susie :sunny:

Susie...you do fit right in. It seems most of us are really OC. And our families have all adapted so well. My DH, DSs will simply get dressed Saturday morning for the airport and say to me, "Are we all set?". :rolleyes1 Hmmmm...must think packing fairies did it all! :goodvibes Perhaps we should start a support group. "Hi, my name is Linda and I'm an obsessive compulsive vacation planner". What do you think? ;)

If anyone is interested, there's a great journal by someone who did this cruise on April 9th. It's long but full of information. The address is:
www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=8431417#post8431417
I saw where some of you already visited it. She has some great photos, too. The stingrays are very large!!! Check it out.

:wave2: Linda

I can't believe I JUST found this website! I've been looking on my other boards for fellow passengers on our first cruise and, alas, found not one soul....then I find this site and OMGoodness!!!! WOW!

I am so excited about this cruise! I have tried to start packing but seems with the severe weather changes we've had, I need my summer clothes about every other day!!! Some days 80, some days 40......

So, traveling will be myself (Suzie, 35), DH (Ed, 41) and DD (Tori, 2 almost 3). We're from Northern VA, just outside of DC. This trip will be just to celebrate being family. DH survived a heart attack last Thanksgiving night and this is our "vacation without phone calls or interruptions vacation". Can I just tell you that I am very happy to hear that cell phones do not work while at sea?!!?

I would love to get to know y'all but feel like the severe latecomer to the party - 51 pages of posts?!?!?! I really, really tried but only read about 28 pages before giving up! I'd still love to get to know y'all, though - especially the ones with kids my DD age! I'm so afraid that she won't have anyone to play with since she's just too young for the kid's club and to me seems too old for the nursery! AAAGGHH!! What's a mom to do?!?

So, let me know if Cinderella can still come to the ball or has my carriage turned into a pumpkin?

Can't wait to be actually on the ship. I think I am just going to be one big mush ball the first day! DH is afraid that I'm going to cry when they announce our name when we arrive - I always do when I see that first Disney sign at WDW! What can I say? I'm a Disney FANatic!

Welcome, Suzie...
NEVER too late. Be forwarned, however, this group is a wee bit wild  but more fun than any other thread on this board!!! As you'll see, we are all a bit OC...most are already packed. Some are still piling, present company included. There are a lot of Grumpy DHs, tons of kids, very few teenagers much to my two DSs chagrin, lots of injuries but everyone is welcoming and we all can't wait to meet each other. Happy to have you. :)

Welcome Suzie,

No need to read all 51 pages! Your little girl is welcome to play with my 2 year old who also seems way too old for the nursery and too young for the kid's club. Allison is a little pistol who thinks she's 4 like her older sister and will be chomping at the bit for friends. Hopefully, she and your daughter will find many new friends aboard the ship! :)

Once again, great to see another May 7 buddy. See you on board!

Rachel,

Come with me to the dark side of the force. There you will learn to be an overzealous, insanely organized, borderline worry-wort! But at least you know that you'll not forget anything (hopefully!)

See ya in a 8 Days!!! (I'm psyched, but still have quadruple and quintuple checking on lists and packing to do  )

Harris

Can I just say that I have goosebumps!! I actually meant to click on your name to reply to your message but actually got your info - we have the SAME EXACT birthday!!! OMG! Too wild! See, I knew that this would be a good forum!

I am sure that Tori and Allison would love to play together. Tori loves playing with all ages of kids - just enjoys being with someone other than mom all day! What deck are you guys on? We're on 6 but 6 forward port side. Seems that we have the right deck, just the opposite end from everyone else!

ok. I have the proper butt kick to get started on my packing tomorrow(actually today but it's still o-dark thirty outside!) . We've been stock piling things in our luggage for some time now - doesn't seem fair to include our Disney bag of "gotta haves" that we always keep packed. You never know when a great fare sale will happen and you need to just go! We usually go to WDW 3 times a year (annual passes) but this year we've been saving ourselves for this trip. So, I will get my butt in gear and JUST DO IT!!! It helps me to destress to be able to check things off my Calgon packing list - gosh, is that man a hoot or what?!? Yes, I do have my duct tape!

Parents of teenagers, beware of my hubby! (boy, that sounds bad, doesn't it...read on) He may be 41 in years but is really 12 in body and mind! He keeps telling me that he's only as old as he feels and most days that is 12!! He actually got me to book him for the parasailing at Castaway Cay - I would NEVER in a million years do that!- but it's something he's wanted to do! After all, this is our trip of celebration....

Ok, can I just tell you that I feel among friends because right now I eat, breathe and sleep (when I do sleep!! It's 4:00 am here right now!!) Disney cruise right now. I've been watching my DCL video, the shows that I've been taping off tv since we booked last year, and keep thinking when I'm in Target and Walmart - "will that fit in my luggage?". God, I am so ready just to be there! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'm also going to be looking for a walking buddy. DH bought me a treadmill for Christmas this year and I've finally lost my baby weight from my almost three year old! I just have to work at the weight I still have and love to walk. I've lost thirty pounds in the last three months that I've been actively doing it and really need to walk in the mornings. DH loves to exercise in the gym ( he is a weight lifter) and I really don't - so when he is working out, I walk. Anyone interested?

I am so excited and I just can't hide it! But then again, why would I?! I'm going on a Disney cruise, baby!!!! WOOHOO!!!! Okay, I'm calming down......

Great name btw! hee-hee

I had to laugh when you explained why you have to clean your house before you go - I think along those lines too!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Good to see there's some other insane people like me!

boy, reading all these post had me cracking up this morning!! kaykels you are toooo funny!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

suzie welcome to our dismeet!! :goodvibes we are glad to have you & i would be interested in walking with you- maybe tera would like to join us or anyone else- gotta keep those pounds down from all that good food!!

suzie here is the link to our dismeet list- i will add your information- at the top of the list is the time for our dismeet, hope you can make it!
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=530270&page=48&pp=15

well, i tried on my gown last nite...still kind of snug but it will do  - i have all the clothes out on the bed and tomorrow i will make my final trip to walmart(YEAH RIGHT) :sad2: & pick up what ever ....then being the compulsive person that i am i will cross everything off my 4 page packing list!!! :scared1:

yeah, my DH thinks there is a magic packing fairy too!!! :wizard: somewhat annoying but i cant release that control to let him pack- god knows he would forget tooooooo many things

6 DAYS TILL I AM CHILLING AT THE HOTEL...7 DAYS TILL I AM ON THE SHIP

Hey Suzie and Welcome!!! I believe Bratray posted a list of everyone that was in our group... that should help catch up abit. I have two older DD who LOVE little ones, so I'm sure your DD will have plenty to keep her occupied :flower: Atleast your trying to get rid of your baby weight after 3 years... my "baby" is now 10 years old and I'm FINALLY doing it

Bratray - I'm definitely up for walking :cool1:

I can't believe we leave here in 6 days.... and not a moment too soon. It started snowing here last night and it is COLD here today :cold: :cold: I don't think we're suppose to get higher than 35 :cold: I checked the weather in Florida for the day we arrive and it will be 80 and sunny :cool1: :cool1:
