If, repeat if, everything goes right. With the monorail it can go down as you are riding it or there can be a delay when a train is brought on to the tracks (they do that at the time of day you are leaving). Things can happen even walking.

And one final thought, what if the last ride you go on breaks down when you are on it and it takes 30 min to an hour to evacuate you and that does happen with regularity.

But it now seems obvious to me that your are determined to make going to MK on your last day a higher priority than getting home. Good luck, but you ARE NOT giving yourself any leeway for problems. But so be it and I hope you make it because an extra ride won't make up for the problems caused by missing a flight.

its a ten minute walk from the MK to the CR- have done it many, many times...its probably less from the MK to the parking lot...

I kind of dislike being argumentative (well, maybe not!!) but zeppelin is talking about walking from the MK to the CR, not taking the monorail. What is going to happen to prevent them from walking to the CR in 10 mins? Not much.
If you plan to be back at the resort 2.5 hrs prior to the flight departure, you should be fine.

Let me start saying this was not MCO but could be any airport. Last week we dropped my sister, nephew and our sons off at airport. My hubby and I returned rental car, and got ride back. Met up with our sons, my sis had already checked in as she was on another airline. We waited in line 10 minutes to check bags. Then get in line for customs ( this was St Thomas), then security. One hour fifteen minutes after we arrived we were at gate. My sis had walked thru customs and security, we were 15 minutes behind but waited one hour longer in lines. Just saying 10-15 minutes can make a huge difference on how long a line can be. Granted you don't have customs but a few minutes could make huge difference in security line. Accidents on way can make huge difference, rental car return line can make huge difference too. I'd rather sit in airport at gate and relax a few than panic and worry about missing plane or if I'm going to make or through security fast enough.
But only you can make call...
I'd leave more than 2.5 hours to get that done

I think if you leave the park by 4:30 you should be ok. It's best not to push your luck...leave with plenty of time to spare......enjoy your trip.

I'd gas up the night before. That will give you a gauge which read F but not a full tank of gas. Some agencies require a receipt showing a fill up close to the airport.

I'd allow a little extra time if you plan on filling up near the airport or if you know you won't be able to quickly check your car in. Specifically if you have minor damage to your car, want to change your method of payment or have reasons to think you'll have an issue with the charge which will be printed by the computer.

I might allow extra time if I was flying SW and I wanted to get to the gate before the plane started boarding. An "A" BP won't help if "C"s are boarding when you get to the gate.

People gave you varying times and varying reasons behind the times they gave you.
It is obvious that you have made up your mind on when you plan on leaving and what people are saying is of no concern to you anymore.
Hopefully some of the serious scenarios with traffic, accident or long security lines won't happen and you will arrive at your gate in plenty of time.
Hopefully none of your sarcastic remarks above will happen either....

Also as others said boarding starts about 7:15 so that is two hours to drive to airport, return car, get through security at the end of the day.

I usually plan on arriving at the car rental return at MCO about 2 hours prior to the flight, which would be 5:45, in your case. Since it is rush hour, you could hit a little traffic getting to the Greeneway (I'd definitely plan on using the South Exit approach to the airport), so I'd want to be leaving property about 5:00. I'd think leaving MK about 4:30 sounds about right.

As long as you are driving away from CR around 5ish, you should have no issues. There will be traffic along the way...it's rush hour. But it's a fairly straight shot to MCO. It will take you a little bit to return the car and then go up to security and the gate. But leaving CR by 5 should enable you to do all that with time to spare.

I live behind the MK so not far from CR but my driving route would be different. Without a rental car I would leave at 515. With one I would probably leave at 5 just because there is always it seems a back up of cars dropping off at the rental agencies. I would also assume you have an onsite rental agency. I always fill up the night before and the car gauge has always showed full. I have been asked for a gas receipt and honestly would not have one most times if asked...plus a full up could be for three gallons or thirteen there is no way to tell (easily).

thanks- don't they tell you when picking up the car you need to have a receipt upon drop off?? most of the companies that have asked me for a gas receipts in the past have been the "substandard" companies, if you will, (E-Z Rental Car) whose drop off area is in the way back of the rental car drop off area....of course they never asked me for the receipt when i dropped off the car...plus we are renting the car in Cape Canaveral when we disembark from our Disney Cruise and dropping it off at MCO the day we leave Disney...

i'm renting with Budget and I am Fastbreak member, so i don't expect much hold-up....

We usually use Dollar or Alamo and fill up at the Hess near the Boardwalk. They didn't ask for a receipt. But I'm not sure about Budget.

I only use Alamo and have never been asked. I have never been told I need a receipt.

I know Avis (and Budget, since they're affiliated) have a program in place where they will automatically charge you a certain amount for gas if your rental has less than 75 miles on it. They call it a "convenience". If you have less than 75 miles and want to waive that charge, you need a fuel receipt. That's the only situation I'm aware of that you need a receipt.

Of course, just a couple of days at Disney you'll easily go over the 75 miles. Its surprising how fast it piles up.

Since the OP said they're picking up after a cruise. By the time they drive to Disney, then back to MCO, I think they'll hit 75 miles.

Budget does indeed have that 'convenience' charge. We picked up our car in Sanford...drove to US/IoA. Then drove to port and left the car in the DCL lot. Off the ship and drove to WDW. Then, drove to Tampa for a few days, and on Easter morning, drove back to WDW, had breakfast in MK and then drove back to Sanford and returned the car. When I got my receipt via email a few days later, I noticed that 'convenience' charge on it. I called Budget and they told me it was automatically put on for those that traveled less than 75 miles. I told him that we had driven that much in two days of our 10 day stay!!! And that we had filled the car up at least twice. Add to that the fact that we reported the milage when we returned the car...good thing I took a photo of it before turning it in!!!
They took the charge off!!! You really do have to watch the car rental people...sadly.
