7/24/2011 5 Night Disney Dream cruise

Hope your dad continues to gain strength and get better Lauri!

Continue to nurse the elbow Michelle, you'll need to have it strong enough to lift the Konk Koolers (<---I can handle this for you if you need help!):lmao:

Coming down to the wire now. I talked to DCL today to ask what nights are supposed to be "dressy" and she told me whatever night you are scheduled for Royal Table will be the night you want to get dressed up. She said shorts were allowed to the other restaurants but no cut offs. I thought there were designated nights for dressy/semi-formal wear? She also told me that pirate night was Nassau night which I didn't know.

All she did was fill me with even more anticipation. Is it July 24th yet!?!?:cool1:

Glad your father is getting better Lauri, here's to him continuning to do so :goodvibes. I have been away from the meet for well over a week or two. I have been to Ohio for ds's college program, then spent the 4th in Vermont and last week I had a lot of oral surgery done. Found a new way to loose the last few pounds before the cruise:lmao: I have not started to pack but I am starting to plan in my head and am trying to get the family to tell me what needs to be washed,:laundy: taken to the dry cleaners or have need to buy. I plan on raiding my daughter's bead collection to get a bunch of green ones. I am not sure if the rest of the family is going to join in on the fun or not. Did we decide if we are doing a meet on deck yet? I think it would be a fun way to start the cruise. We could have a drink ( isn't it called P.T. :rotfl:)
and meet all our friends. I am not familiar enough with the lay out of the ship to suggest a meeting place, any ideas out there?? Hope everyone has a great week without anyone getting sick, or breaking anything. Happy packing:woohoo::woohoo:

Wow, bizarre. There has always been a designated "semiformal" night. So, what happens if you are in RP for Pirate Night? I like to wear my pirate garb (such that it is - more "pirate-ish") to dinner on pirate night (one less outfit to pack!!!). pirate:

I think she's confused. I've seen the Navigator's for both versions of the 5-nights and there is a designated Dress-up night on both of them. Pirate night IS Nassau night-I've got my costume ready to go!!

lauri hope ur dad continues to get better!

servicemen can pack it away;)my DH is ex navy, wish he was retired to get the DCL discount! That's okay, CCL & NCL luv all who have servedand we've gotten some amazing military rates over the years.:thumbsup2

Good to know!

Good question...so do we go to RP in Pirate wear? :confused3

I think you are right. I have heard of dress up nights being designated and others being cruise casual, etc. We probably all need to look at a 5 night navigator with a Sunday departure. It would have to be the same for us, wouldn't it?

Pirate-ish costumes ready to go! :thumbsup2 Party City had clearance and had pirate costumes on sale! :woohoo:

I'm wearing my pirate costume to dinner....we have late seating and I don't want to miss the party!

Here's the 5 night navigators for Sunday night. They're the ones I've been using to check things out.

No problem. I'm so excited!!! I have to leave a day early for my trip because I got a job interview at Shades of Green!!!!! That would be SO awesome to work there :)

We are last minute cruise packers (will probably pack Friday night for our Saturday morning flight.) DH and I were discussing it today, and we think that for this cruise, we're learning definitely more towards cruise casual. That way, we can each pack only one suit case each, and not have to take a garment bag. We usually dress up--DH usually takes his tux for formal nights, but for this short cruise, we're going to try to pack light. And we're lucky to be on the Magic over Thanksging to get our formal pictures done then.

No pirate costumes here, as that's our Palo night.

I had been hoping to see the Magic take off from Port Canaveral on Saturday, but duh, I forgot she was in the Med.

On the 5 night navigator mmtska provided, the suggested dress code is listed on the first page for each day, in the upper right hand corner. "Semi-formal" dress night on this navigator is listed on the "at sea" day.:thumbsup2

Shades of Green Resort?! Good luck! I know you will nail it!:thumbsup2

I'm going to start making my packing list, but won't pack until Friday night before we leave on Saturday.

I've been reading menus non stop and thinking about what I want to eat!! :thumbsup2

I'll be thinking of you as you pack, as we'll be packing then too. DS 16 is a JC at camp, and just told me this morning that he has a late night at camp that night (till 11), so he'll be packing really late.

My DH just asked me for a link to the menus. That's a sign that he's ready to start thinking about the trip :rotfl:. I've been looking at the menus since they we're released. There was a good food porn thread from the dream a few days ago. It's nice to "see" everything, along with the description.

How's your arm, Michelle?

How's your arm, Michelle?

Lauri

It's doing a lot better, thanks for asking!! I still don't have full range of motion, but for the most part I'm back to normal. It hurts the most at night but during the day I pretty much forget about it, (until I bend it the wrong way...ouch).

We're pretty much packed right now. The only things left are a pair of shorts that I probably don't need to take and unmentionables. lol. Everything else is shoved into our bag!! Oh and I guess one of my dresses for dinner. That still needs washed, but it's going in our garment back so eh. I figure we'll be asleep most of tomorrow, DH works Saturday and Sunday and we leave Sunday night so it's gotta be done today or he'll forget something lol.

10 DAYS!

I just bought some pretty toenail polish for the cruise!! :thumbsup2

i need new stuff, what color? I usually go with OPI in darker shade for tootsies & lighter on my stubby fingers

how cool to work @ WDW! Was told we could book SOG for Sept dates & one other time during the year (which i forget think it was January?), nice they do it for those who haven't retired. A friend told me a few years ago that every time she tried to book SOG it wasn't available, but she then received heavily discounted rates @ other onsite hotels = CR among them.

pretty sure i'll be the last one packing, next friday probably around midnight.

I just love looking at my ticker, down to 10 days :cloud9:

:tinker: Good luck mmtska with your interview! What a great opportunity.

Michelle - glad your arm is healing! I got pretty sick at the end of June and have been on the mend since then. Am finally getting back to my old self. I think having the cruise on my mind helped with the power of positive thinking. :thumbsup2

:wizard: Lauri - hope your dad continues to heal. My dad is cruising with us (it's his bday!) and has had heart problems and tires easily. He'll be going in for more tests after the cruise, so I'm just praying he is in good health for our family vacation.

:mickeybar:mickeybarShout out to you, PoohJen! :mickeybar:mickeybar

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA the past week. My dad was hospitalized just before July 4th with a small heart attack, but fortunately he's doing well and home from the hospital.

DD 14 has already been to camp for two weeks and is now back.

DS 16 just got his drivers license this past weekend :scared1: and drove for the first time alone yesterday.

But now things are getting back to normal. Time to start getting ready for the cruise--only 13 more days till we're on the ship :woohoo:.

I'll be wearing my beads to the port, but my family is protesting. When I asked them what shirts we should get/wear to the port, I was overruled :confused3. I guess I'm just glad that they all still like Disney enough to keep going with me.

Time to get ready...

Lauri
hey im 14 maybe we( your DD and DS) could email
